She was friendly, knowledgable and up for a chat when I was drowning in a sea of shoes, opinions and general tiredness - nice work! I'm always impressed with the range of shoes on offer at Schuh and it's somewhere I've been buying from for 15 years. Nice work on consistently having a good range of cool trainers, formal shoes and general 'not needed' ones - they're nice looking and I know they're not needed but I still have to have them (my wife thinks I have a serious trainer buying problem... I just think I have a strong interest in them ;-) )

She was great with my little boy and really seemed to know what she was talking about with the shoes and give excellent advice. The shoes seemed rather pricey at the time but my son has had so much wear out of them. They must be comfortable as he picks them out of any of his trainners. I will certainly go back here next time for his next pair. Best to try and go midweek and avoid half terms as it can get super busy but they do have a ticket system for been seen. if the shoe were slightly cheaper I would give them 5 stars

I explained that I had only tested the boots briefly on my motorcycle foot pegs to check fit and function, which caused minimal marks. What has disappointed me most is the customer service and lack of transparency: * I first asked for photographic evidence on 4 August, but Schuh did not provide these until much later, despite multiple emails. * The parcel was sent back while I was out; my neighbour refused delivery and I was not given any proactive tracking information until I chased repeatedly. * The customer service and complaints team were not helpful, often repeating policy but not answering specific questions or offering solutions. * When I asked for details of how their inspection or testing process works, no specific information was provided beyond saying the team is trained. * When I asked about independent escalation, I was told Schuh has no ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) membership and that any escalation would have to be done by me through Trading Standards or my bank. Customers should be aware that even minimal signs of testing footwear may lead to returns being refused, and there is no independent review of decisions.

I used to have a friend who worked here and I seriously think she spent all of her wages on the shoes before she'd even been paid! I'm a huge fan of the court shoes but find that none of the boots here fit my calves. If, you me, you have legs like a rugby players, steer clear of the Boots section. It's depressing to say the least. Moda in Pelle do have a higher price bracket than avergae. A pair of basic flats will cost you around £55. However, the quality is good from my own experience.

For blokes , unless you're going for 'casual loafers' or 'sports shoes' you have to abide by the current apparently unbreakable fashion rule that is irritatingly long pointed toes. I must admit I'm getting a bit tired of this look. To me, most guys wearing a pair of these shoes just look overly-self-consciously trendy but it appears a man would have to try pretty hard to find a non-pointed toe on the high street...unless venturing into Clarks or Slaters. It has actually got to the point where a man wearing a more rounded toe will probably look like he's making some sort of fashion statement...cue rounded toes coming back 'in'. Yawn. But if you like your toes trendy and pointed there's plenty to choose from! So to sum up, Aldo's not breaking any boundaries, but probably serves the average shoe-shopper well.

Further poking around, led me to see another buckle clad biker boot for just £90, a quick sniff test and, yes, it was leather. Why hadn't I taken the plunge before? It's always been a place I'd walked by and never felt compelled to explore. Is it because I've got an uncle Aldo and I was avoiding it through disassociation? I'm not sure. It could be down to the fact that every time I've wandered by the store is absolutely teeming with people, or that I prejudged it to be super expensive and beyond my budget. My sensible shoe/non sneaker budget is always less than my kickass sneaker budget. In addition to women's shoes they do a range of men's boots and shoes, although on first glance, your man in your life would have to be a bit on the metrosexual side, as styles are more on the exploratory fashion conscience side of things rather than practical Clarks' types. Some of the selections are hit and miss, and as a demographic it's hard to decide if they're targeting the older middle aged crowd, the fashion conscience students, or the teenagers with far too much money yet a healthy appetite for switchblade stilettos and thigh highs. Hmmm. The last time I went in sale season was still in bloom, and due to busy periods staff were a little fraught and run ragged from traipsing up and down stairs, one imagines. More comment on that when I go back for my boots, preferably at a quieter time.

This Sports Direct has a huge selection of random sporting goods - balls, bats, wickets, swimsuits, running suits, trainers, sneakers, football shoes, golf clubs and bags, tshirts and shorts. But not a whole lot of team goods. Lots of "sale" signs - everything looks like it's well marked down. Or the prices have been doubledso that they can take 50% off, but that's just my own wild guess. :-)

A metal staircase leads you down to the basement which is Adidas land. If only to gaze in morbid fascination at the freak of branding that is the Adidas leather couch complete with buttons! Any Adidas lover will be at home here, surrounded by classic tracksuits and exclusive collections. Upon ascending the stairs you see that each step denotes a key moment in the history of Adidas, elevating the importance of the basement store to something of a museum exhibit. Up to the second floor (this shop really is huge!) and you find the more general clothing with a variety of brands including fread Perry and Lyle & Scott. The gear is pricey but a little more varied and interesting than the usual suspects in the Adidas dungeon. There are loads of lavishly branded t-shirts, expensive jeans and some vintage-look cardigans and checked shirts...but I can't help but feel you'd be better off buying true vintage for a quarter of the price rather than paying through your nose just for the addition of a tiny embroidered logo. If you like labels of a certain ilk and don't mind paying a hefty chunk to do a bit of free advertising for your favourite brand then you'll probably love Size? If you're not into labels and are shopping on a budget then even the friendly and enthusiastic staff probably wouldn't get you over the threshold!

If its high tops or retro cool, basketball kicks or skater shoes that take your fancy, then definitely take a trip to Size if you fancy something different. One of the pleasant rarities with Size? The staff actually know what they're on about, there's a passion for the collections, and if you ask, there's usually an answer. That's without mentioning the content, the collections are unique, which is probably evident in the price tag; your average pair of Converse are going to cost you more at Size, but they're more than likely different, or limited edition, and for any sneakerhead, it's a bonus worth the price tag. And that was just the first floor. If the giant Converse boot on the ground floor doesn't tickle you (it still amuses me to this day) then there's the basement, dedicated to the uber-cool Adidas Originals brand. Everything is organised by colour palette and is typical of the Originals brand, again it's a bit pricey, but if you're a fan of the brand it's totally worth it to pick up something fairly unique. Once you've hit Adidas, jump in the lift, take the two floors up and get off at the equally uber-cool clothing department. Again there is staff on hand to provide informed answers to questions, and that's not forgetting the chance to browse the familiar brands with a different twist to them.
