The hardware for the gates was placed on backwards. Various cracked boards, exposed nails and bowing of boards. I was charged $700 for a mesh tarp that they referred to as a "sun sail", which was a brazen lie. I was told the tarp would be functional and easily removable. It was bolted down and not removable and provided zero sun protection. When I demanded it be removed and me refunded my money I was given the runaround. Once taken down I inspected this plastic Amazon tarp and found that they had removed the tags!!! SCAM. They did come out and replace the cracked boards and switch the hardware, and on another visit to address more complaints the owner himself came for a walkthrough and basically tried to gaslight me into asking if I had treated the fence yet saying that the wood was bowing because the fence needed to be treated- mind you it has only been four months since installation, and I was instructed to let the wood dry out. Coincidentally, I was already in the process and had stained a few boards with stain samples a few days prior to our walkthrough, which he saw with his own eyes. I am an educated homeowner and property manager. I know good work when I see it. The poor quality of wood and craftsmanship of the fence/pergola has nothing to do with the fence not being stained 16 weeks post install. Not one time did I ever receive an apology about the major mistakes, the setback and slope of the fence and the countless oversights and poor quality. The playing dumb routine rubbed me the wrong way as well as being blamed for being slow to stain the boards and told that no customer had ever complained about their TARPS or ever wanted to know the manufacturer and care instructions. Comb over your statement of work before proceeding with this company and make sure you have time to micromanage and babysit. Also, they go by various other names i.e., Chattel's Design, Aiken Pool and Aiken Fence. If you can speak Spanish that will also be a helpful because none of the guys working spoke English.

The Legacy team did my perimeter (3 board w/no climb) and paddock fence (no climb with top board)…read moreover a 12 acre property in Aiken. The entire process was amazing. Yes, we had some minor adjustments to address but they were able to provide options and see it through. In just about 8 days my entire project was fenced exactly as I imagined. They will be returning to install my custom gates soon. I couldn't be happier. I will definitely use Legacy fence for all of my future fencing needs.

I did have to add filler in some places that had gaps due to the uneven ground. No attempt was made to remedy the low spots (like bury the horse wire a little at the post) so I had to fix this myself. The double drive through gate was a FAIL. The ground was slightly sloped up to the west end of the gate. The west gate was built not square and the hinges not plumb to try to match up the 2 gates, which caused that side to sag dramatically (approx 5-6 inches) over time and bend the auto opener arm (east gate stayed perfectly level). I tolerated the crooked gate for a while but when the gate eventually would not operate due to west gate hitting the ground (on the down slope!) I requested that Legacy come back and rebuild the gate properly. They said it would be 3 weeks and that I would have to pay for them to come fix it. I rebuilt it myself!

The job was a total nightmare from start to finish taking over a year and costing more than double what was originally estimated. We realized too late that his company was grossly unqualified to take on a job of this size. They cut every corner and made every mistake you can imagine resulting in gross structural inadequacy and building failure. Workers negligently climbed all over my existing barn roof destroying water repellency. They abused our tractor using it without authorization claiming they couldn't get the proper equipment to put up the posts. They wouldn't show up for weeks at a time, leaving our equipment out in the weather then used our hand tools and walked off with some. They ran over the well and littered lunch trash on my beautiful farm. They climbed on my horse trailers using them for scaffolding while Dan repeatedly lied and presented us with new altered padded invoices. Structural report and photo evidence is too extensive to add here but feel free to email me and I will send it to you.
