A clown. I hired this dude to sell my mobile home in Grass Valley California and regretted doing so almost immediately. He promised professional photos for our ad on Zillow and took several terrible shots with a cheap cell phone with what appeared to be a throwback camera from the year 2001. It was my house but My mother was handling the sale for me as I was evicted following an incident where I'd been the victim of domestic violence and vandalism. I was not allowed to be on park ground s except for to work on the remaining repairs my home needed so my mother handled the majority of my business there. Jeff didn't seem to understand that he was working for me and complained repeatedly that he couldn't show the house or take better photos because I was there. As though I posted some sort of risk, or was attempting to prevent Jeff from doing his job. Fact is he was lazy and thought he could blame me, not realizing that I was the one who'd hired him . My home was worth about $150,000 as it was fully remodeled. Everything new... New heater+A/C ($20,000), vinal wood floors ($10,000), water heater, paint inside and out, plumbing, newer roof, new deck, electrical, garbage disposal, $10,000 custom built tuff shed, cabinets, counters, carpet etc . 3bd 2ba two living room areas, seasoned landscape. Jeff barely got me $99,000 when all was said and done. As a forced sale I expected to take a loss, but the loss i incurred was so substantial that I am still struggling to recover. Save yourself some grief. Pay a little more to go with relax gold or century 21. In the end your bank account will be far more cushioned than if you try to save a buck going with this off brand knock off who fails to deliver on his promises and then deflects responsibility to the very person who's paying him ...... We were moving here from Colorado, we had visited the area earlier and made an offer on an Auburn home. We sold our Colorado house, packed our belongings and while driving away from Colorado, we learned that the house we anticipated buying fell through. We own an RV and decided to live in it while we looked for another house. We had many forces working against us; 1) We were fairly uncomfortable in the RV. 2) We really wanted to get into a home asap. 3) We are fairly experienced at buying homes and also fairly fussy 4). We know a good Realtor from a mediocre one and are not impressed with pretty faces and big smiles. We were doing the "home hunt" daily, met a variety of Realtors and while the pressure to get out of our RV and into a home mounted, we were unable to find the home that met our needs and we surely didn't meet the Realtor that we trusted to be our one and only, "home hunt" person. I met Jeff at an open house, he was low key, but immediately I was taken with his listening skills, he seemed "real", he was interested and easy to talk with. He Told me his philosophy wasn't to sell someone a home, it was to find the right home for that person. that struck me as so many other realtors we had worked with tried so hard to "sell" us a home. We agreed to spend a day with Jeff looking at homes. We were clear with him about what we wanted and what we were willing to pay - his listing skills were perfect and he found us a number of homes to look at. Most realtors can go this far, but now is where I became very impressed - He knew the neighborhoods, the history of the homes, he did his homework on every home we looked at. Jeff also has excellent knowledge of local building codes and could warn us about any potential problems. AND he has knowledge and experience fixing and remodeling homes himself. He could look at something like cracked concrete and off the top of his head, he could give you the cost per yard of concrete and give a fairly accurate cost to repair the cracked concrete. If I liked the house but wanted a shed, he could give accurate advice relating to building codes, fees and he could walk you through the process and requirements of building the shed. He has functional knowledge of good contractors and best prices on building supplies. When we looked at a home with Jeff, we felt like we had a whole crew of supportive, knowledgeable people working for us. We had a wonderful, positive realtor searching out the best properties. that met our needs. We had a person as skilled at home inspection as any home inspector I have ever seen. We had a Contractor that could find and estimate the cost of repairs needed on the home. We had a person that was so connected in the community that he could advise us on who to use and who had the best price and who to stay away from. And we had a friend that wasn't trying to sell us a house, he was trying to find us the house that honestly met our needs. We found a home we love and remain extremely thankful to Jeff. His skill sets runs deep and his listening skills are so refreshing. If you feel your realtor is trying to sell you a home - I would run fast and far. If your realtor is helping you look at a home objectively, seeing the positive as well as the potential problems and explaining the costs and issues that you might come across and treating you like you are his/her only customer....then you are probably working with Jeff. Being new to Grass Valley area, we were looking for someone who knew the area well and what things to look out for when buying a home in a more rural area. After reading HyperMega M's review, we were convinced that Jeff was our guy! His review is pretty on point about how Jeff works and is exactly what we wanted. Jeff worked with us from the beginning, first looking at potential homes to buy in the area. He's very knowledgable in the materials and things that people use in their home and could tell you if anything is undesirable (water damage issues, old material, etc). It's almost like having a home inspector with you while touring homes. We were drawn to a house that was the most expensive among the homes we were set out to look at. Although it looked perfect at the surface, Jeff pointed out irregularities that might hinder our long term satisfaction of it. By doing this, he clearly showed us that he was looking out for our best interests, as he would risk taking a lower commission, which we really respected and are grateful for. When we finally decided on a house and got our offer accepted, Jeff was available any time for questions and always kept us updated throughout the process. He even convinced the seller to cover repair costs even though it was in the contract that they wouldn't cover repair costs. He even took it upon himself to button up some minor issues that came up on the inspection for us. To top it all off, while we are in the process of moving and selling our house here in L.A., he's been going out to our house in GV to check up on it to make sure our pipes don't freeze during the cold snap or just to make sure everything's ok! Total waste of time. I contacted Jeff because I own two properties in the San Francisco Bay area and am considering selling one or both properties and buying property in the Northern California Area. Because one of my properties is a rental I cannot sell the property immediately but wanted "comps" of properties in the area for review. I explained that I expected nothing expect comps at this time and he didn't have to view properties or even show me properties. If something peaked my interest and met my criteria I would contact him and we could move forward from there. Simple right. After an initial email no response following. Not even the courtesy to email me after I reached out asking if he has any interest in working with me further and explain that sending me the comps was more work then it was worth. I grew up in Grass Valley but have lived elsewhere for 20 years, so I wanted to find a realtor who had lived here long enough to be able to tell me what has changed since I left. I also didn't want to be just a number to a realtor who would be passing me off to his assistant most of the time. I called Jeff after reading the Yelp review about how he got up on a ladder to change some lightbulbs for a client, and I knew he was the realtor for me within about 2 minutes! I love that he worked at SPD and knew the town as a resident before becoming a realtor. He also knows everybody and can give you a vendor recommendation or a quick DIY solution for just about every issue. This was especially helpful to me as a first-time homebuyer who was mostly unfamiliar with the ins and outs of rural living (I'm looking at YOU, wells and septic tanks!). You can tell Jeff really loves helping people find the perfect home by his unflagging enthusiasm. I never felt like I was bothering him when I called or texted, and he always made me feel like my home search was his top priority.
