Our 7-yr-old daughter asked every day for two months to start karate lessons. When I started the search for schools, I originally needed something nearby that would fit her school and my work schedule. This school was perfect on those practical levels. It's clean, well-maintained, and family-friendly. Parking is easy to find, and the pricing structure for classes is affordable and reasonable. What has exceeded our expectations is the excellent staff, instruction, and care. Our daughter loves Sensei Anto and Sensei Aram, and has made friends in her classes. She looks forward to class and practicing at home. She recently passed her test for yellow belt and the experience provided her with such pride, joy, and a determination to continue and excel. Like most kids, there are moments where she doesn't want to participate or acts up; Sensei Anto manages his kid classes well. He knows when the kids need a run-around break, and when behaviors need to be addressed. He balances fun with technique, pays attention to kids who need extra guidance, empowers more advanced kids to help out lower levels, and generously gives praise when deserved. My 7 year olds just started here. They staff is really great and they are loving it. My kids were sick this week and were able to participate in thier class over zoom. It is very pricey ($200/month for 2 classes a week, +$99 registration, $100 uniform, and $20 groin protector) but I actually called another similar place in the Pasadena and they were about the same price per month. read more

Both my kids were enrolled in classes here. Sensei Anto was an exceptional teacher. He was patient and kind with the kids, yet firm and authoritative. When my older son was experiencing some of his own personal setbacks, he took some time to chat with him and help in any ways he could. My older son was enrolled into the adults class and my younger son was in the level 1 class. The students in the adult class were supportive and kind to my son. They were eager to help him learn which we appreciated. The students in the level 1 class were also kind and respectful. I enrolled my daughter at the beginning of this year, and she is very happy to come to every class. I love that they do not only emphasize the skills they learn, but work on character aspects as well. It is a very well rounded program that has helped her gain confidence, become more focused, and less anxious. She is thriving personally, academically, and in class since she began. We held my daughter's 8th birthday here and it couldn't have gone better. We invited her 2nd grade class and they had a blast. Marine and Sensei Anto attended to every detail and even thought through a back up plan if it rained. My daughter has been at the Pasadena Kenpo school since she was 6 years old starting as a white belt. Now she is 13, and a black belt and is working toward achieving her adult black belt. She has sensory integration disorder and my husband and I believe that karate saved her. My daughter started attending classes a little over 2 years ago. I love the change I've seen in her since starting classes here. Some people have more interest in self defense however I like the other aspects of martial arts. With the help of her instructors she has really matured. She is more focus and patient with herself. She is motivated to constantly improve. She's much more active and her stamina has also improved. I think it's wonderful that as students progress they are encouraged to help teach lower level classes. The staff is amazing and I can honestly say you feel like a part of the family here. The instructors are very warm and encouraging but dish out tough love when it's called for. There is also summer camps & camps through out the year. This place is awesome my son's been here for a little over two years now. The staff is wonderful and helpful they wear gloves and mask and clean the mat in between classes to make people feel real safe and checks temperature and hand sanitizers. There are lots off martial arts school. My 13 year old son earned his 1st Don in tae kwon do when he was 11 . I wanted him to take kenpo but couldn't find a school where I live. ( tujunga ca, ) let's just say that tae kwon do is a great Olympic sport. Kenpo, however gives you the tools to prepare yourself for real life situations. Ok so I've trained here with Sensi Anto after a friend recommended it. After I tried it I loved it so much that I told my younger bros to go there and they did it too and now they're ahead of me. If you want someone you care about to learn self-defense you can't beat this place. I've trained with cage-fighters also and nothing beats this place for the mental aspect of martial arts. You can go and learn to fight anywhere but I guarantee only a few places can offer the true martial arts experience. I've seen too many place that fake it and too many kids learning things that I know will probably give them a false sense of security and they will end up worse off. Anyway people, put on your ghee, and step in to a dojo that will make you a warrior when you step out! Train with the best. True masters of Martial arts are sensis Anto and his brother Berj.
