"I don't treat labs. I treat people."…read more I needed a Dr. House, and I got it. A maverick. A hipster, standard-issue-nor-cal-hippy version of House. Plaid shirt. Burner. Rides a fixie. This guy saved my life. Literally. In the not figurative sense of the word. --If you have CFS/ME, Lyme Disease, a medical mystery or some other condition where you've been seen by a bunch of doctors who haven't really helped you--DO IT. --"Radical Access" is incredible. Dr. B is available by email and very responsive. Test results and appointment notes are often emailed to me, sometimes even on a Saturday. Love being able to make and change appts online. --RE: paying out-of-pocket. Going this route ended up saving money. Dr. Brandeis works quickly and efficiently to arrive at the right diagnosis and the right treatment. Won't order a bunch of unnecessary tests, and you can be sure the ones he *does* want matter. Staying within my fancy PPO insurance plan would have cost 5x as much and I'd likely have little improvement to show for it. Also, being nearly bedridden is expensive. Reducing time bedridden= smart financial move. --Supplements. Sometimes he'll make a suggestion, then emerge with a bottle. I'm always skeptical. But some of them turned out to be more potent than my prescription meds. No joke. To keep this glowing review balanced there *are* a couple areas that fall short: --Referral to specialists. This was huge shortfall and surprising given the level of service Care Practice. On 2 occasions I was advised to consult a specialist, but left with shrugged shoulders in terms of actual referrals and specific providers. Once I started contacting specialists, most of them ( and all the best ones) refuse to interface with patients directly and ONLY work via physician referrals. Trying to negotiate this process as a patient was not effective or efficient, not to mention overwhelming while sick. --Office staff is mixed. All-or-nothing. Either staff who are excellent and SO on their game, to borderline incompetence/negligence. Be well.

After dealing with several clinics and endless phone calls, I finally found Care Practice. I was pleased to find out that they operate for the many of us without insurance. I walked into the appointment with little knowledge of the place but was pleasantly surprised....they have a Naturopathic Doctor! Andrew is great and I was lucky to have had my appointment with him. Not only did he treat my needs with sincerity, he was also thorough, understanding, and honest. I only needed a basic strep test but was sent home with several remedies that are proving more effective than imagined. This is my first yelp review ever written and I think it is well deserved. I highly recommend Andrew (I have actually already recommended him to my friends) and will be back. Even though I already believe and trust in Naturopathy, it's nice to FINALLY find a Naturopathic doctor in the city that I can believe in.

He doesn't seem to be up to date with a lot of new information, even simple new treatments found in magazines in his office waiting room. If you aren't good at advocating for yourself, and perhaps coming across strong about treatment of certain things, you aren't likely to get much from him as a doctor. He might be fine as a see once in a rare time PCP, but I'd look elsewhere if you have something that needs more of a discerning eye. He's good about referrals though, if you ask questions he doesn't have the answer to. He doesn't really do anything to coordinate all your specialists care or ever seem to really know why you're in for an appointment and seems in a hurry to get you out, and is annoyed by too many questions from informed patients. Also, he uses outdated guidelines from certain associations which could potentially harm a client not yet sent off to a specialist.

Having dislocated my limbs multiple times, I know from experience thats not going to touch the pain. Doctor offered x ray for a tissue injury. X rays do not provide beneficial medical data for tissue injury. Left with out even bothering for the over priced Tylenol. She did manage to needlessly twist and wrench my arm though, so at least im in more pain then I left. The only professional was the desk staff and security. Good on them for being decent humans. The alleged PHDs could use some training and empathy.

This is a review of a single orthopedic professional, representing her orthopedic team , calling…read moremy home to determine whether my son would qualify for an "urgent referral" ( which was already issued by his primary care doctor). This representative dismissed my son's hip replacement urgency status when l told her that he could hardly walk with a walker, took Tramadol and Mexiclam , ( refusing stronger drugs so he would not risk addiction) so he was able to work as a machinist . The retort was, " Well, he is going to work , so that does not count." I also reported to her other symptoms which she wanted to speak to him personally about, which l told her that if she was as brutally rude, and essentially obnoxious he would dismiss this orthopedic team and Berlin Hospital completely. Although it is unfair to give a poor review of an entire team of professionals or a complete hospital in Montpelier, Vermont because of one individual, l will not follow-up the recommendation to take my son there for a hip replacement because their one representative was completely devoid of compassion.
