Mr. McLean, perhaps one should be asking you as a former Medical Doctor and a Lawyer, why you had to retain an employment labor attorney to represent you in the first place? Be careful judging others. Your own incompetence practicing medicine landed you in the hot seat. Perhaps you should do a self re-evaluation. Your ego is nauseating. Attorney Jeffrey Bruce has helped hundreds of clients. I will be posting many of those success stories and how he restored peoples' lives, and the compassion and dedication he provides to his clients. I seldom take time to write reviews - positive or negative, but my recent and substantial experience with Jeffrey Bruce (the only lawyer at the Bruce Law Firm) necessitates that I leave one for him, not as a way to seek retribution, but a way to help future clients expect the unprofessionalism, irresponsibleness, incompetence, and most importantly, shadiness that will most likely come their way when dealing with Mr. Bruce (and other lawyers like him) and steps that they can take to protect themselves. As a side note, if you're looking for complete and unbiased feedback on lawyers, do NOT go to lawyer review websites such as avvo.com and martindale.com. They are worthless, and apparently, do everything to protect the lawyers, rather than protect the public from bad lawyers. I left a couple of reviews on Mr. Bruce, and NONE was accepted even though they were factual and truthful. For some reason or another, each of these websites rejected my review. As for martindale.com, which might be the worst, in October, 2012, there was only one review posted for Mr. Bruce, which read as follows: " Overall Client Rating 1.5 out of 5.0 Communication Ability..................1.0 Responsiveness...........................1.0 Quality of Service.........................2.0 Value for Money...........................2.0 He waited 5 years to file, communication was non-existent, he talked to no witnesses, did not follow through in the deposition as he said he would, and ignored every request for fee schedules and balance statements." After reading this review, and realizing that my problems with Mr. Bruce paralleled those written by this reviewer, I sent Mr. Bruce an email which included this review. His response to me: "this was only one client out of my 20+ years of experience." (To any potential client, even one bad review like that is one too many.) Anyways, a short while later, another review, interestingly enough, appeared praising and complimenting Mr. Bruce: "Excellent attorney, knows his stuff!". And even more interesting enough, the first review no longer appears to be accessible (e.g. deleted). I'm not sure what happened - whether Mr. Bruce requested that review be removed, or Martindale.com unilaterally purges (bad?) reviews after a certain period of time. From my experience, these kinds of websites do more to protect lawyers, both good and BAD, than assist and guide the public in finding good lawyers. Getting back to Mr. Bruce, EVERYONE should stay away from him. Period. I now cannot think of one attribute that is positive. First, I will try to be as comprehensive and complete as possible with respect to my critique of Mr. Bruce, but there is no way I can fit everything that NEEDS to be written in Yelp's 5000 character limit. As a result, I might have to spread my review over several posts and this is not intended to mislead any reader in thinking that all the reviews come from different sources. Second, nearly everything that is written can be substantiated with proof (e.g. emails, recordings of phone conversations). In fact, after my pending lawsuit is over, I intend to publish nearly every email, conversation recordings, and video recording of our face-to-face meetings so the reader can decide for herself whether my review is factually correct or incorrect. (Unfortunately, I'm unable to publish any now without negatively impacting and possibly jeopardizing my ongoing litigation.) Finally, I'm also in the process of filing a complaint with Missouri's Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel in order to have Mr. Bruce severely reprimanded or sanctioned. With the way he handled my case, I strongly feel he should be disbarred. I'm also contemplating a malpractice lawsuit against him. I will also publish the results of the investigation and any lawsuits. I want to start off by saying that I have little doubt that LONG ago, Mr. Bruce might have been a competent, responsible, ethical even exceptional lawyer. He graduated second in his class - from the University of Missouri - Kansas City, clerked for a circuit court judge, has nearly thirty years of professional experience, some of which at large, well-established legal firms, was President of the Kansas City NELA affiliate and has received the highest rating of A-V from the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell rating service (yes, the same website that I alluded to earlier that apparently removed the negative review of Mr. Bruce). Indeed, this is an impressive list of credentials for any lawyer, and he wasted no time sharing them with me in our initial phone call in order to convey his legal prowess. But as in the stock market, past performance is no guarantee of future results - and this definitely holds true with Mr. Bruce.
