This particularly location was small with no seating indoors, however, a bench on the sidewalk right outside the door. Downtown Naperville has recently become pretty trendy, with a Molly's Cupcakery, Aloha Poke, and a Gordon Ramsey restaurant in the area. Jeni's has a storefront on Main St and at least a dozen locations across the Chicagoland area, including 2 in the western suburbs (only two? c'mon!) When I first learned about Jeni's from a Yelp event, I was grateful for the one-off freebie but saw no need to buy anything further, as we already had a surplus of frozen confections at home. This time around, our stock had run low, so I became an actual customer instead of just a mooch. A pint of their ice cream is--you ready for this?--twelve bucks. I hesitated to tell my wife how much it was, but she pressed, and when I finally told her she let out an audible gasp. "Well, it tasted like $12 ice cream!" Good honey, I'm glad. Enjoy the subtle taste, buttery texture and magnificent purple coloring of the Wildberry Lavender, you 100% deserve it. I recommend the 'signature' (three 1/2 scoops for $7.25) in a buttercrisp waffle bowl for an extra $1.50. A 'standard' is 2 scoops ($6.50) and a 'flight' is a whopping 10 scoops ($21+) which I assume comes in a bucket with a small shovel. Staff are super friendly and they're generous with samples. Their seasonal choices are great, like sparkling cherry pie and Tahini oat cookie. I'm a big fan of the "double dough", a cookie dough flavor with lumps of tasty cookie dough. Their "darkest chocolate" is the best chocolate ice cream I've ever tried, bar none. Sumptuous. I don't think it's fair to compare this small batch operation to Ben & Jerry's ($6/pint) or Häagen-Dazs, especially considering the outstanding quality, variety, and eclectic flavor combinations. Jeni's is in a league of their/her own! * TL;DR * Initially, I wasn't so sure that downtown Naper-thrill needed another ice cream place (especially with a Red Mango, Coldstone, and Kilwins SO close by), but as it turns out, yes, it does. Such a cute shop in downtown Naperville. We decided to make a family trip out of this event. We went late afternoon - it ended up being a good time, as it wasn't too crowded but they still seem to get a lot of customers. The employees were super helpful and offered our kids samples to try and gave us some recommendations. We went with the honey vanilla, gooey butter cake and brambleberry. All SUCH GOOD PICKS!! The brambleberry tasted like pie and ice cream, vanilla was very creamy and the butter cake had small pieces of cake in it. Great place to stop by when strolling around downtown naperville. Something to note - there isn't seating inside due to the size of the shop, so plan to eat your ice cream while walking or along the river :) We had such a good experience and plan to go back there again in the next few weeks! read more

Came here for some ice cream! The last time I was here, it was mid-winter. This time, it was 90 degrees and perfect for ice cream. I ordered 3 scoops in a waffle cone. I tried 3 new flavors: double dough, sparkling cherry pie, and tahini oats chocolate. They had rich flavors and hit the spot! The scoops were large, and the staff was extremely friendly. This was our second visit to this Jeni's location. Having food allergies, I particularly like how sensitive and accommodating they are. There are dairy-free, gluten-free, and both dairy- and gluten-free options available. My significant other doesn't have any restrictions, so had a very wide choice. On the other hand, there was only one dairy- and gluten-free option on their menu the day we were there - a berry and lemonade sorbet. With no other option available, I did try it and it was good. (They had three different options we could get in pints, but we didn't have a freezer bag to carry it home in.) Jeni's was crowded both times we were there, and I'm sure it has to do with the caliber of their ice cream and wide variety of choices. I didn't count but will guess there were over 30 flavors available for cups or cones. And, their 1/2 scoops are the size of normal scoops. The smallest size available in a cup is two 1/2 scoops. And the difference in price between the sizes is very small. If you have enough of an appetite, I would opt for the larger sizes. The service was great. It was my first time trying Jeni's and it was a pleasant surprise! So many amazing flavors to choose from but I got the dairy free cold brew, wildberry lavender and blackout chocolate cake to share with the hubs. I've never had dairy free ice cream and thought, why not give it a try. I absolutely loved it. I know regular ice cream is supposed to be creamy and smooth but I love the dairy free one even more! It was light, refreshing and full of cold brew coffee flavor. I think I might start getting dairy free ice cream after this wonderful experience. I've taken away 1 star because 1.) The website said they open at noon but when we got there, the door said 2pm and they were close at noon. So we had to stop by somewhere else to have lunch first. And after getting ice cream, we almost missed picking up my youngest so that stressed me out a little with the wrong time since we live 45 mins away. 2.) There is no place to sit to eat so we ate it in the car which was not a big deal but the hours really messed us up a little. So I hope they fix that soon. read more

Flavors are inspired by pop culture and curiosities. You are offered a sample of any flavor you wish. I ordered the 3 half scoop size in a waffle bowl. I had to wait a short time as they ran out of waffle bowls. I had the Coffee with cream and sugar which had a bold coffee taste. Biscuits with the Boss created from the Ted Lasso show . It had shortbread cookies in a buttery sweat cream. It was good but not my favorite. The best flavor I had in my opinion was Gooey Butter cake which was cream cheese ice cream with crumbles of vanilla cake and swirls of caramel butterscotch sauce. Delicious! Gluten free and dairy free flavors are available. Ok They only have a small counter that you have stand at if you want to eat inside. Tables and chairs would be nice but they just don't have the room. Hopefully they will have outdoor tables when the weather warms up. I ended up eating in my car as I didn't want to walk around downtown Naperville in 30 degree weather. So tasty!! I had the wild berry lavender ice cream at my cousin's recommendation and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't overwhelmed by a perfume-y floral taste or a sugary sweetness either, the flavor was very subtle and delicious. It ended up being $15 for the two of us to get ice cream, but it's totally worth it for special occasions like today. There aren't any Jeni's located conveniently to us in Park Ridge, so this was a nice opportunity and only the second time for me at a Jeni's (the other was at their Southport Ave location a long time ago). Wife got a 2 flavor cone with wildberry lavender and cold brew with coconut cream. I also got a 2 flavor cone with wildberry lavender and darkest chocolate, and each cone was $6.25. As expected, it was a delectable treat of rich, premium ice cream. Is it the best? I can't say. All I can say is it's right up there in my mind with Graeter's, Capannari's, and Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream. Call it a 4 way tie lol. They do have a lot of flavors here though. Also distinctive is that samples are provided with a stainless steel versus plastic or wood spoon and customers like this I was told. I just thought of the dishwasher load myself. Note that there are no seats in here, so it's either stand and enjoy alongside a short bar they have, or carry it out. Anis was our friendly attendant and only on his third shift here. He did a mighty fine job and I hope the boss is reading. As with many ice cream shops, the crowd can come and go rather quickly, and we caught a nice quiet moment before a swarm hit. I've been to several Jeni's across the Chicagoland area and out of state. Jeni's is always so creative with their flavors. I tried their new cookie dough flavor, and it was amazing - not going to lie, that's not my typical flavor of choice but I'm glad staff recommended it to me. Apart from that, I was also able to try their new green mint chip, and it's probably my new favorite. I had three scoops of ice cream on this trip -- the green mint chip, cookie dough, and Texas sheet cake. She gave me a container to take it to go as well as a waffle bowl to go. Everything was well-packaged nicely. I love that they make their waffle bowls and cones in house, and you can even smell it from outside. I also bought a pint of cookie dough to go -- my partner really loved it too. A couple of tips here: they have dairy free options, they don't really have tables and chairs to hang out, and it's limited street parking that's first come first serve. You may have to walk a block or two to park at a lot. Jeni's ice cream is the most flavorful ice cream I have ever had. Whatever flavor you order it is going to have a strong taste. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and not artificial. My favorite flavor was biscuits with the boss but it seems that has been rotated out. This time I really enjoyed the strawberry. I liked the salted peanut butter with chocolate specks but I don't think I would get it again unless I'm craving a peanut butter flavor. Once we got in, the employees were super patient as it was my family and I's first time trying it, so we wanted to try some of the flavors out before choosing what we wanted! No seating inside (at least during that time?), but luckily there are plently of benches outside around Downtown Naperville. Also, the inside of the shop smelled SO GOOD! You could tell (and actually see!) that their products, especially their cones, are made fresh. Food: I choose the basic level of a plain waffle cone with two scoops of their milkiest chocolate. Very creamy and rich! It was honestly a bit too sweet for me, so I had a hard time finishing the ice cream. However, my sister got the Texas Sheet Cake (dairy free!!), and honestly, I loved that flavor much more! Would probably only get a scoop next time, but that's just me personally!
