My cousin has a tree nut allergy so going out for dessert can be a bit challenging, especially when it comes to ice cream (where there can be some cross contamination with the scoops) but soft serve is usually a safe bet so we were able to enjoy a nice lil' treat at Jenn & Larry's! They're a VERY cute ice cream spot right by the water in downtown Stratford offering a variety of treats like the aforementioned soft serve with a few different dip choices (peanut butter, chocolate, oreo, blue raspberry, cotton candy, butterscotch, etc etc). They also have vegan options and froyo, floats, sundaes, flurries, sorbets, and more! Pretty much anything you could want when it comes to frozen treats. My cousin and I were playing safe so we both went with a soft serve twist. Mine was doused in a ton of sprinkles and she went with the crushed oreos. They were delightful! Jenn & Larry's is the quintessential quaint little ice cream parlour from a bygone era that thankfully still thrives here in Stratford. Striped awning, bright pink signs, simple menus. They don't sell hard scooped ice cream here. What they do (and do well!) is soft serve ice cream, shakes, sundaes, frozen yogurt, blasts (think Blizzard or McFlurry), and ice cream sandwiches. They also sell some interesting flavours of San Pellegrino that I've not seen before. We ordered the malt shake because the sign said it was voted the best malt shake in Ontario. It was indeed very malty in flavour, albeit a bit sweet for my palate. Will see if they would mix chocolate and malt next time, or perhaps try what they're best known for, which are their dipped cones. No real seating here (unless you can squeeze into the kids sized seats and table out front) but you can take your frozen treats to go as you sit riverside, or go for a stroll in the nearby Shakespearean Gardens. Got recommended on instagram, but a bit disappointed by the hype. I found the ice cream to be good but nothing special. Unfortunately, the service was so-so, as the cashier's attitude was unfriendly and unwelcoming. As tourists, we felt particularly uncomfortable with the way we were treated, which marred our experience. Really enjoyed the ice cream here. I got a regular sized pistachio pudding frozen yogurt and the pistachio was great without being overpowering. Plus the size is huge. The milkshakes were good and the cookie dough blast had homemade cookie dough. There are maybe 4 seats outside and a bench nearby - mostly people are taking out and walking around. Located in the heart of downtown Stratford, this is a great choice for soft serve. Aesthetically, it looks like a typical old-school ice cream parlour, but it's super clean, staff are friendly, and they have a good set of choices on the menu (basically, it's ice cream or a milkshake). First, location. This place is located just off Ontario Street (the main street with all the restaurants and shops), not too far from away Boomer's Fries and the Shakespeare Gardens. Second, seating and space. Shop space is limited (it's pretty small). It's probably best to grab your ice cream and head outside to sit by the benches overlooking downtown Stratford, or at one of the many outdoor benches nearby. Third, the ice cream and milkshakes. We actually ordered both! We had the: a) salted caramel milkshake and, b) chocolate vanilla swirl soft serve on a cone. Both were delicious - temperature was cool, tasty, and creamy. No complaints at all, and definitely satiated our cravings for something nice, cool, and delicious! For a soft serve cone, and a milkshake, we paid around $7.00. Jenn & Larry's Brittles and Shakes is a family-run shop featuring brittles and shakes, as their namesake states. The base flavour is the SUPREME (plain nut brittle) but the flavours add on from there. Everything from bacon, to Thai ginger, to chili pepper to pistachio! The shop is very cute, with pastel interiors. Brittles are $4.39 per 100g. Can't wait to dig in to mine! read more

Quaint! Was treated like a customer should be. The interior was a reminder of past cuisine and looked very welcoming to a plethora of cultures due to their sign with multiple linguist renditions of "Ice cream". Would frequent said abode if I resided in Stratford. read more

The Ice-cream, cakes and peanut brittle are delicious. My favourite is the strawberry shake. This is my go to ice cream place. The servings are generous and sure to please. A great local business that cares about their customers and supports the local community. The Sometimes there is a line but it moves quick and is worth the wait. read more

We were walking back to the car after hours of walking around Stratford, when we saw this little ice cream shop. I'll admit I was a little disappointed when I saw the only had soft serve but wow, it was the best soft serve I ever had. I got a "little" sized chocolate. I swear it was custard, it was so smooth and creamy!! I wish I had gotten the larger one. Even my daughter, who doesn't like chocolate soft serve, loved it. I had to fight to keep her away from mine!! The employees were friendly and pleasant. The location is a little off the Main Street so make sure you try to find them. This is one of the better soft come ice cream I have had (and I've had a lot!) it was dipped in their chocolate dip which was so delicious but takes a while for the chocolate to harden over the ice cream so be patient. I will definitely be coming back for more :) read more
