She seemed to understand intrinsically what our personalities were and how we preferred to be photographed (either acting goofy...or not knowing we were being photographed.) Her pictures were beautiful: elegant but also very unique and heartfelt. In addition, all our friends loved her so everyone was happy to have their pictures taken. She blends so easily into a crowd that she seems like a friend or a family member and instantly puts everyone at ease. We got some amazing shots: dancing, portraits, families and just fabulous strutting around. It was a year ago and people still ask to see my pictures. And all of this planned with zero stress over a very nice cup of tea. Just show up and Kim will handle the rest. I can't recommend her highly enough.

(I eloped when I got married - so no professional photog there either). My company recently hired Kim to do a series of headshots for each employee and a group shot. We're a playful agency - and the majority of us identify as nerds so posing as "models" is not our natural state of being. However, Kim was great at coaxing out our inner Zoolanders. She really took the time to get to know us and get a feel for our company culture. We spent the day prior to the shoot walking around the area for a couple of hours and determining ideal locations. The following morning she was ready to rock. We did a series of indoor and outdoor shots. Kim has a very comforting and relaxing nature about her. She was able to instantly put me - and my other colleagues - at ease with her warm, positive and genuine personality. As she took photos, she'd let you see the results after a few frames so you could specify what you liked or didn't like about a particular image. If someone didn't want to seem rude or vain and expressed satisfaction, even if they weren't satisfied, Kim would pick up on it immediately. She'd gently offer to take more pics until those that were more self-critical felt comfortable with the product. She spent the entire day photographing our team and not once did she seem tired or annoyed. She seemed sincerely thrilled to be a part of the moment with us. We also got proofs back in rapid time! For all my initial nervousness and hesitation, this was a really fun and positive experience to be a part of. I don't think that would have been possible without Kim behind the lens though. If I ever need professional shots in the future - I know who I'll be going back to :)

A week later or so I went for the viewing of the images. They came out beautiful. I did a payment plan and once you pay everything in full you can receive your pictures. However, I was told via email that Dan would reach out to me once they were ready to pick up. I never heard back. I sent numerous emails with no response. I just want an update on the black book and digital photos. This was not my first shoot. The last one I did with another photographer and received my images via link two weeks later. Not sure what the hold up is. I'm ok waiting for my images I just want an update. Just poor customer service.

I met with Daniel Doke on the recommendation of a friend who used him for her wedding. She went…read morewith Curtis - one of Daniel's "employees," as he was more within her price range. Daniel was out of our range as well, so we set up a meeting with Daniel. A few days before our appointment, I told another friend that we were meeting him and she immediately started telling me horror stories about her cousin's wedding, when Curtis was the photographer. She said he took photos she didn't want, didn't take photos she did want, held them too long so they missed part of the party, etc. I figured everyone's experience is difference and despite our hesitation from this review, my fiance & I met with Curtis anyway. When we showed up, we were very impressed with the studio. It's a guest house off Daniel's real house and is very warm and inviting - nice couch, fireplace, framed pictures all over - very neat and clean. Daniel and Curtis were both there and left us for a few minutes to peruse their albums. Once they came back to chat with us, we found it a bit weird that Daniel did 98% of the talking. Yes, it's his business, but they both knew we were there to meet with Curtis, as he was the one we were interested in hiring. Curtis said one or two things, but we were not able to really get a feel for him, except to see that he wasn't very "forward" - which is something I feel a photographer needs to be. They need to feel comfortable jumping in at any moment to get a shot, but not ruin that moment. This was the main reason we didn't go with them. Yes, I had my friend's horror stories in the back of my mind, but if we had been able to chat with him - with Daniel jumping in every so often, instead of the other way around - we might have hired him. I think it's good that Daniel was there to support his employee and try to sell his business, but I think he should have let the photographer we were there to meet with do the talking.

My partner and I did an engagement session with Stephen and he went above and beyond from the…read morebooking process to receiving our photos. We were booking pretty last minute but we really wanted some good fall foliage in our photos, and Stephen was able to squeeze us in on a Friday morning and it was perfect. We booked a 1 hour session at Cider Hill Farms and ended up taking photos for an extra half hour with an outfit change and we had such a good time! Stephen was so friendly and relaxed during the shoot, and even though it is a very busy season, he was able to get us our gallery from Oct. 28 just under three weeks later. The gallery we received is absolutely stunning. The foliage and the lighting were perfect on the day of the shoot, but Stephen was really able to capture both, and colors in our photos are unbelievably beautiful & exactly what we were hoping for. The gallery is easy to use, easy to share, and easy to download from. We are really grateful to have these photos and would absolutely recommend Stephen Grant Photography for anyone in the area!
