Our initial meeting was great; we learned a lot about Leora, her family and her experience as a professional officiant. We received our draft script soon after meeting her. The script was a great start, but my fiancé and I made some modifications to the script and sent these modifications back to Leora for her review. Leora then informed us of the following: "I read through your draft several times and appreciate the additions you made to the script to reflect your values and beliefs. Unfortunately, my beliefs and values don't align, therefore I don't believe I'm the best fit for you. " Best wishes, Leora We are all entitled to make our own decisions and I don't fault Leora for making hers. However, while Leora appears to offer a very inclusive environment for all couples, I can say that this does not appear to be the case for ALL interfaith couples. If you need an officiant, I recommend that you go that route. There were like two officiants I found on Thumbtack that were trying to charge over $200. Susan was reasonably priced, and she was there promptly. I was a little bit concerned about how short the ceremony took, but it was perfect. My husband's children are small and it was great for them not to get tired. Definitely happy with how everything turned out.

Let's just get this out of the way - I don't go to church regularly, and didn't have a structured…read morereligious upbringing. Getting married into a family with a more traditional background made me nervous. How was I going to have a ceremony that appealed to them but also didn't seem blasphemous and fake to me? The answer: Rev. Claire Goodman. Rev. Claire conducts a lot of weddings in the Charlottesville area, and her experience shows. She's incredibly organized, but also specifically deals with interfaith marriages and the challenges that can arise there. She really made me feel more comfortable discussing ceremony basics, what my husband and I as a couple did / did not want, and was genuinely interesting in getting to know us better so she could tailor the ceremony appropriately. She made us fill out a super long questionnaire that, at the time seemed like overkill, but in retrospect was worth it. It definitely asked some hard questions which probably should be asked anyway when people are planning on getting married. But, that's a topic for another day. Rev. Claire usually likes to meet at Cville Coffee and she was prompt responding to text, email and phone calls. Half way through the planning process I moved from Charlottesville so these digital forms of communication were more important to me. On the day of the wedding Rev. Claire was on time, conducted a beautiful ceremony, and even stuck around a bit afterward to mingle with the guests and get a picture taken with us. I highly recommend her as an officient.
