When I got pregnant with my son JaCk, I knew he would be my last child. I knew I wanted to do all the things I couldnt do or did not have the means to do with my first two beautiful girls. It was always my dream to have portraits done of my newborn baby to capture the moments of undeniable love and pure sweet amazing LIFE! One morning in my OB's office I noticed a picture book with the photography artist being Jennifer Wilcox. Tears rolled down my face as I turned the pages of captured moments of life and gorgeous babies. So of course I called made an apt and we went to visit Jennifer one August morning. The photo shoot was exciting, I could not sleep the night before. We followed all the directions Jennifer posted on her webpage and endured a long fussy drive to her house. As Jennifer began her magic and gentle touch Jack was very sweet still and precious. Then my little sweet boy turned into any photographers nightmare,,,,,lol. He would not cooperate, sleep or maintain these amazing poses for long. He fussed fought and moved constantly. I just wanted to leave and felt horrible for Jennifer, but with all the patients in the world she rocked his sweea bottom back to sleep. With her soft touch, gentle hands and expert quick eye she invented ways to connect with JaCk. As we went through every beautiful setting and inventive props specially picked out for us. I felt as if Jack was the only baby she has every photographed. Jennifer opened her home to us and made my family feel like her family, my daughter even fell asleep on her couch. So as the shoot finished up I was hoping for one good shot. Jennifer and the setting was amazing but poor Jack was so uncooperative :( THEN I got the pictures in the mail and my heart was touched forever. I don't know how but Jennifer contained this little monster man of mine long enough to reflect his most intimate perfection. When I scrolled through her magnificent work of art I saw everyone of my children in JaCk. I can't even begin to tell you what a blessing finding Jennifer has been. The week that I found out I was pregnant, I began looking for a newborn photographer. I knew that I wanted to cherish those first few weeks for the rest of my life. I booked a session with Jennifer for my daughters newborn pictures during my first trimester and throughout my pregnancy I received emails from Jennifer, checking in on me and giving me tips and advise! She is so friendly and loving. During that first session, it became evident that Jennifer is a baby whisperer of sorts. She lulled my daughter to sleep and was able to keep her that way for nearly four hours. She worked so hard to make sure that my family was given one of a kind portraits. When Jennifer delivered the pictures of my newborn baby, I was brought to tears. Every picture that she had taken turned out amazing. She captured every perfect detail that made my daughter so precious to me. She even made my husband and I, sleep deprived and all, look like we just got back from a very relaxing vacation. I love to see all of the beautiful new memories that she creates for other families on her Facebook page and on her blog. We have continued to take our daughter in to see Jennifer as she reaches her first year milestones. It is sad to me that once she turns one, we will not see Jennifer again until we bring a new baby into this world. Eventually, all of the baby items that you have so carefully chosen will be stored away. The clothes will be outgrown and the memories of those first few weeks will become a little cloudy. But the pictures that Jennifer takes of your little bundle will last throughout the test of time. While pregnant I knew I wanted newborn photographs to capture my baby's innocence and beauty. I spent hours searching local photographers, going through their portfolios to find one who was not only talented, but had an artistic touch that matched my style. Jennifer's portfolio was the only one in which I loved every single photograph she took. And when I read her blog about her sessions I knew she was someone incredible. The love she showed for each of her clients was evident in her words and brought the sessions to life. I am still in awe of Jennifer's many talents. Her studio is set up to provide comfort to both babies and families. During our four hour session I watched her lull my baby to sleep in her arms and carefully arrange her in the most beautiful poses. If my daughter would stir, Jennifer would put her camera down and help her fall back asleep. She was so patient and gentle with my daughter and watching her work I knew I was watching something magical. My original goal for our newborn session was to get a couple good photographs I could hang on the wall. What I got instead was an entire CD with over 50 beautiful photographs of my daughter. Each one as beautiful as the last. And even better, she took amazing photographs of my husband and me with our baby girl. When I saw the images on the CD I cried because each one was so perfect and I knew I would always remember this incredible moment of my daughter's life. Friends and family raved about the photographs and wanted their own copies to hang on their walls. When I left the studio I knew Jennifer would be my daughter's photographer for the rest of her life. Like most people, we began looking for a newborn photographer before our baby was born. However, we didn't pick one until AFTER she was born. Not knowing much about photographing babies, we didn't realize that a six week old would be so different to photograph than a baby that was a week or two old. This didn't phase Jennifer one bit. She was patient, sweet , gentle, and professional. Jennifer works to get every shot just right, but doesn't rush the process at all. We never felt rushed. In fact, aside from feeding my little sweetie while I was there, Jennifer did everything for us. For first time mommies, this was a very welcome break! It felt like a "spa" day. Our daughter slept for the first hour or so and Jennifer was able to get lots of beautiful shots. After that, she kept waking up and rearranging herself making that 'oh so perfect shot' very difficult. This didn't phase Jennifer at all. She kept working at it until she got just the shot she was looking for. In addition to all of this, she was open to any ideas we had and was more than willing to try what we wanted. We left knowing that the shots would be gorgeous. We had no idea just how beautiful the shots would be. Jennifer's style of photography is timeless and will stand the test of time... I will never look back at these shots and think, "What were we thinking?!" We cherish the photos that Jennifer took and will be booking her for years to come. I love, love, love the pictures Jennifer took of my baby girl! We were highly impressed. My husband is a photographer/ creative director, and I have worked previously as a freelance fashion stylist assistant for photo-shoots. So I believe we have a pretty good eye for great photos. My husband initially took photos of our firstborn child, however, this time around we decided to hire a photographer. We were so happy we did. Babies are difficult to photograph, and Jennifer just has a special way of dealing with newborns. Every movement is so gentle and done with the greatest care. She is a true Pro at what she does. When I started looking for a newborn photographer, I'll admit I judged the local photographers in my area (south puget sound) by their website gallery. I did get recommendations for other local photographers, but none had galleries as nice as Jennifer's, and after reading her blog on the pricelessness of newborn photos, I knew I had to book her. Meeting her, she was friendly and warm. My son, Elijah, started the session well, but after time he did not want to miss out on the fun and wouldn't sleep. Jennifer was patient and extremely gentle with him, rocking him, burping him, and even changing him. She worked her butt off so that we could have priceless pics...and in the end we got them! My husband and I gave birth to our first daughter early last year. We wanted to capture the pregnancy and our first moments together as a family but not just any photographer would do. Jennifer did the most beautiful pictures of our son, Alexander. I took my time researching the best infant photographer in the area, and my experience with her exceeded all my expectations.
