I was excited walking into this place excited to look at decor for our wedding. We were greeted by someone at their desk, then after asking told "linens are over there, and hurricane glasses are over there." That's all. We didn't get asked what we kind of event, who we were, and we definitely didn't get any help with pricing. There were at least 3 gals there that could have done a lot more. It just seemed like no one wanted to make a sale or be helpful. It was over all just disappointing, so we left. read more

Thank you for responding but I'm not sure you get a clear picture of what happened. When I picked up the chairs, I did count and I was given 25 chairs. The problem was I actually took back 35 chairs and 10 chairs were not your companies. I was told in less than an hour, your company counted ALL of your inventory and did not have any extra chairs BEFORE I came and picked up the chairs that didn't belong to you. When I picked up the chairs they all fit in my trunk but bring back some had to sit up front. My problem was I probably should not have allowed others to help me load them and when I dropped them off I should not have allowed your staff to tell me "Im good" when he didn't bother to count them. So Mike you don't have to feel sorry for me. Lesson learned. This a WARNING for others to learn from my mistake of being too trusting of your staff. read more

THIEVES. They give used car dealers a good name. We have rented from them three times over the course of five years. The first time they charged us for "unreturned items" that we returned. The second time we had no issues. The third time...we just received a phone call that we were missing five spoons. After the first rental issue we made a habit of counting everything before returning the rentals. So this time like the last we counted everything to make it was all there. Now, a week after returning our stuff, we get a phone call. "Missing five spoons". So, if you're going to rent from this bait and switch operation, make sure when you come back you make them hand count everything in front of you. Or they'll steal from you. Good luck. read more

Fairly cheap plastic rental chairs... not exactly top quality but worked for the event. We rented the wooden tables which were cheaper but were not exactly in great shape so be sure to have a table cover and I wouldn't recommend them for wet weather. When I entered, there was a lady there on the phone and she didn't even acknowledge me or try to assist me when she was done talking. But a nice guy came out - Paul and helped us. He had great customer service and was very helpful and courteous. The tent rental fees were crazy expensive, so o suggest just investing and purchasing your own party equipment. Over the weekend my friends held their wedding at my home. On Friday the rental equipment was scheduled to be delivered. The "window" given was 8AM - 6PM. After the groom called in the early afternoon (no one from the company ever contacted us) the window was adjusted to 3PM to 7PM. The groom called several times. They arrived at 8:30PM with excuses. About 10 of us had waited literally all day and into the evening. If you are planning a wedding take this into consideration. Weddings are stressful enough without having to worry all day about essentials for your big day. read more

COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED. Beware--their hours are not stated correctly on their website. It says they are open. Yelp says they are open. They are not. The wedding is tomorrow. I went to pick up linens for my friend, the bride. She asked me to pick them up today. They were not open when I arrived this morning between their website hours of 9am-4pm. I called, and the message gave a rental emergency number, so I texted and called. No response. It is almost 2pm so I'm not sure what good a rental emergency line is if they don't respond to it. The website says they are open until 4pm today. The bride talked with Amy three times on the phone after her initial in-person visit, and she was never advised of a change in hours. She wasn't told to be sure to pick up on Friday. Her order has been paid for. How does a party rental business prepare rental items and not notice they haven't been picked up? read more

We rented tables and chairs for our intimate July 2013 Steilacoom beach wedding/JBLM reception here! Long story short- my husband is in the Army and I did everything I could from California. My mother rented two tables, chairs and table cloths. The chairs we received had not been cleaned, there was still nasty food all over them so we had to clean them ourselves. We rented two rectangular tables and they gave us two round table cloths for them. Will not be using their services again. read more

The staff there was very responsive to our calls and emails in the months prior to the wedding. They were reliable with the delivery as well. Update: American Party Place proved superb in the setup and take down of the tables, chairs, dance floor (outdoors) and arbor we ordered. The delivery folks showed up on time, with everything we ordered, and made for painless setup. I didn't have to worry a thing about setup as I got my hair and makeup done - a blessing on your wedding day! For the clean up, just throw the napkins and tablecloths in a heap, and fold the chairs. Two expenses, one great, one not so good. Good experiences, the rental process. We made an appointment (not required, but helpful on a bust Saturday), and the whole experience was a breeze. They have items and prices online and the website allows you to make a pre-order list and get an idea on what you will be spending. I was happy we went into the showroom because we changed our mind on a few items when seeing them in person (just personal preference not because they were misrepresented on the website). I think the prices are fair and they didn't try to add any hidden fees, etc. Bad experience, the return. It is GREAT that you can return Monday from a Saturday rental. Sunday afternoon, after we had recovered from the wedding a bit, my new husband and I painstakingly counted and organized all the rentals to return (minus the forks and knives, that was just too much). We accounted for everything except for one plate we had broken. We took everything back, and we we're trying to help the guys offloading to keep it all organized so it would be easier to count. We got a call a few days after saying that we were missing two dinner plates, a bread plate, and a fork and two knives. They just charged the credit card we had used to pay. I disagree. As I said we painstakingly counted all the linens, plates, and glassware. However, how can you argue - you're not there when they count it. It just felt a little dishonest. Also, we paid $90 for the damage waiver, and while I realize that is to cover broken items, I feel they should have credited any missing items towards that $90. Again, I disagree that we were actually missing anything, but if you were, do you really want to spend your wedding or party making sure that the caterers or bartender keeps a plate or glass they break...if I'm missing $40 worth of items, I paid $90 for a damages, so they would still be $50 ahead. I just didn't want to spend my honeymoon arguing with the rental place over $40. Lame! read more

I will be short and to the point. After being charged a $90 delivery charge for linens for our wedding, our napkins were not delivered with the rest of the linens. Since they are closed on Sunday (our wedding day) we were left without napkins. In addition the business had the audacity to leave me a voice mail message two days after our wedding to state they would be charging me for not returning the napkins that in they did not deliver in the first place. When I called them back (after our honeymoon) I asked to speak with a manager who I was told was on vacation. The woman I spoke with promised the manager would call me back. It has been over 90 days and I STILL have not received a call back. Worst customer service ever! Thank you American Party Place in Tacoma WA for helping to ruin our wedding day. It makes it easy to keep track of the cost as it adds up. Picking everything up and dropping it off was a really easygoing experience. I absolutely LOVE AmPP! They have the most fantastic customer service and the friendliest staff. They take care of all their own linens, meaning that they see any stains themselves and make sure they are taken care of AND well-pressed, meaning you end up with beautiful linens that fit the tables properly, lay smoothly, and don't have any ugly stains. They show up on time and have even helped my in a last-minute pinch. Even the delivery guys are friendly and professional. They also have a great showroom so you can go actually *feel* the linens and see the true colors for yourself instead of on the computer screen. Do not rent from american party place!! There are plenty other rental companies to choose from. I rented 4 round umbrella tables and 2 banquet tables..which from the looks of the pictures on the website..they are nice stained wooden tables. When I received my order..not only did I not get umbrella tables..but the tables were ugly faded plywood with stains all over them so I had to go get linens for my sisters bridal shower. The banquet tables were gray plastic and the picture online was nice wood. They told me they were low on supplies so I got the plastic tables even though I rented them a month in advance! After complaining I got my money back! Definitely do not recommend this place! read more
