You pay for your admission at the register in the gift shop and then you literally pull the curtain back to step into the museum. It's merely one room of memorabilia of Chris Stapleton, Keith Whitley, Patty Loveless, Loretta Lynn, Billy Ray Cyrus and several others who are from small towns in this same area connected to the strip of highway where you'll find this museum. There is apparently live music here on certain days. The portion of the building dedicated to that is what takes up most of the building. So, looking from the outside, don't think that it's all a museum. Would I pay admission again? No. But they have to keep the lights on somehow.

But the fourth floor does hold this museum, which is not huge but does comprise several rooms. I was offered a tour with the warning that this could take minutes or hours. Unlike most visitors, I was not primarily interested in the Hatfield-McCoy feud, but the history of medicine in the area. This topic does get one bit of hallway to itself. My tour guide wasn't really knowledgeable on the history of osteopathic medicine (which would be a big ask, frankly), but did have plenty of anecdotes about the area. Other topical rooms covered all sorts of local history. The Hatfield-McCoy exhibit is front and center, but there is definitely more than that to be discussed. It isn't fancy, but I didn't feel bad about spending $5 and some of my time here, and I left with a little piece of coal they offer as a souvenir.

We showed her the proof of the overcharge and the advertised cost of admission, and she falsely claimed we were threatening to assault her. We did no such thing and didn't even get in her face! As we were leaving the owner, John Andrew Oldfield, started yelling at us and threatened to call the law if we didn't leave, which we were already doing! Never going back here again! Terrible, terrible people!
