Took two skirts to have hemmed and wanted to charge me $80. The price chart on the wall has hems for pants, shirts, and skirts all priced less than $20 and hems for wedding dresses priced at $80. So why does a hem for a simple size Xsmall skirt cost $40 each? Then asked if I wanted it next day and told me for expedited next day service it's $100. Total rip off. People of color go elsewhere, this is the second Asian business I went to that overcharges black people. Charge people based on the price you charge everyone else for the same service. Total waste of time driving across town for this. The $80 fee was also getting the two hemmed skirts back one week later. Response to the owner's comment: I was asked if I wanted the items expedited, I then asked you the price. You hesitated for five minutes while trying to come up with a number and then said "to get it back tomorrow it will be $100". I then said, I will wait for it next week. You then quoted me $80. So the price is a $20 difference for a six day wait period? Make that make sense. You completely overcharged me if not based on race then based on pure greed. I am 5'2" and weigh 130 lbs. the skirts are both an XSmall, but they're extremely long. All they need were hems. I have lived in almost every state in the US and have been getting my clothing hemmed forever, this was overpriced, price gauging! I am willing and capable of paying the amount you charge but when I took a look at your price chart and watch you hesitate on giving me a price I knew you were scamming/ charging me based on race or just being down right greedy! In this case you lost a loyal customer. I too am a minority and respect those who provide the same exact customer service across the board to everyone, no matter race, socioeconomic status, or financial ability to pay. I have been going to Kistler's whenever I'm in town for over ten years and she's phenomenal. However, due to her recent closing had to find another seamstress. Very friendly and helpful tailor, but we had a miscommunication. For those who are getting suits tailored - she does NOT do suit jackets. I messaged her with a request to get a suit tailored, she told me to come by for an appointment. I drove 30 minutes out of Columbia to see her for the appointment, and the first thing she said to me was that she didn't do suit jackets because of how much time they took/they weren't cost effective. I spent an hour of driving to not get the service I was told to come to her shop for. But she knows what she's doing, and does it very well! I'll be back when I need pants altered. I hope she eventually modifies her pricing so that suit jackets are cost effective. She has a reputation for being one of the best tailors in the Columbia area so it would be great to be able to get full outfits tailored there instead of pieces. read more

Took the time to call about alterations that I needed within about 4 days, the owner ONLY asked what I needed and I answered that I simply needed a dress that was too big to be taken down to fit better. Lady said 3 times, "Yes I can do by the time you need. Just bring it in"!!!! So I spent money on a Uber just for her to spend 1minute looking at my dress and her telling me I need to to get someone else to do!! I was so disappointed in the LACK of professionalism. No apologies. Nothing. I wish she would of asked the proper questions like a person who actually does alterations and not of rushed me off the phone just for me to waste my time coming in, just to be told I can't be helped. She was rude and did not care about the inconvenience she put me in just to get turned around. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY DRY CLEANING/ALTERATIONS PLACE I GO TO HERE IN COLUMBIA. Ms. Jenny was so sweet & very professional. I took my military uniforms here to get pressed & they came out perfect. Since then, I've taken a hat, more uniforms, & a few pairs of pants to get dry cleaned/altered. Their turn around time is immaculate & they offer delivery in the local area! She hasn't delivered to me yet, since I haven't had to use it, but she did offer to deliver when I dropped off the first time. I love that option because I can't always get off work to pick up dry cleaning on time. Anything you need done with alterations, I bet you she can do it. You won't be disappointed. read more

I took a bridesmaid dress to Jenny's 10 days before the wedding I was in because it came in late. Needed it hemmed as well as the shoulders taken up. She had the dress finished in 4 days!
