Good price and good place to go for alterations in Markham. I took my wedding dress to get altered back in 2020, which was a complex dress with 10+ layers of tulle and a train. Jenny did a great job tightening the waist, shortening the train, and hemming the dress. We found Jenny on Yelp and decided to give her a try. She was very responsive and was available evenings and weekends which was very convenient. We had 10 pairs of jeans and slacks that needed hemming and tapering and she did a fantastic job with each pair. She made straight cut jeans into slim fit look incredible. I found Jenny's Alerations through Google and I am so happy that I did. She had 3 five star reviews at the time. I was in an absolute pinch and needed a dress hemmed for a wedding. I texted her a picture the night before (around 9:30PM) and she replied right away. The price was so reasonable! She told me I could bring my dress in the next day and pick it up within 3 hours. When I brought my dress, I put it on and Jenny measured it to my liking. She finished hemming the dress in 2 hours instead of 3. I am so impressed with her service. Jenny is super nice, her prices are so reasonable, and her service was VERY fast. She told me she has 40 years of experience - I believe it! Thank you Jenny! I tried Jenny's Alterations for pants hemming and to shorten shoulder straps. All the items I asked Jenny to do alterations on are brand new and never been worn. Jenny runs a home business close by and when I met her she advertised herself as having 45 years of experience as a seamstress so I was willing to try her out. Truth be told I was not at all impressed by her sewing skills as the quality of work she has provided was HIT AND MISS and for the most part shoddy at best. She knows how to hem cotton pants, but with polyester pants, her skills is severely lacking. She does a poor job in measuring, and is NOT detail oriented. She does not take into account the appropriate length for me, to ensure a perfect fit. She did not check her work to see if both sides are even and symmetrical. I had to ask her to fix HER mistake THREE times for my polyester pants as it was still too long and sweeping the floor, not to mention the uneven stitching at the bottom that was noticeably sticking up on one side. She told me she fixed the problem, but it's obvious she didn't, so now I need to take the pants to someone else to fix the problem that Jenny did not repair. I also had to ask her to fix my dress straps THREE times because she did not measure the length of the straps against my shoulder while I had the dress on for her. As a result the straps ended up too short and the fabric was severely cutting into my armpits! What I found most upsetting about my first time experience with this business was Jenny's unprofessional demeanour. She couldn't control her emotions and became blatantly upset with me for politely asking her to fix HER mistakes. She wanted to charge me twice to fix a dress shoulder straps that was not fitting right because she did not do any measuring. She DEMANDED that I pay her upfront before fixing her mistake. Jenny LITERALLY GRABBED MY ARM, USHERING ME TO LEAVE, AND RUSHING ME TO PAY, WHILE REFUSING TO LET ME TRY ON THE PANTS AND DRESS THAT SHE HAD JUST COMPLETED REPAIR ON, claiming that she fears me noticing her mistakes and that would result in her having to fix another problem. Jenny is a fast worker, but that's about it. I wasted a lot of time going back and forth thinking my clothes are ready for pick up and ready to wear, only to find out that there's problems time and time again. Jenny charged me $12 for hemming polyester pants, $12 to shorten dress straps, and she wanted another $8 for the same straps that she had to fix because she did not do any measuring! I do not recommend Jenny's Alterations to anyone who values excellent workmanship, quality of service and their time. read more
