Everyone I spoke to was nice and competent, but Dorsey-Carlone also had the best prices. Stephanie helped us get the paperwork ready in advance of his death to reduce the burden on the family after the event. Stephanie was so warm and caring. On the day my brother-in-law died, her team showed up promptly and acted professionally. Stephanie was extremely helpful when she came to the house to get all the paperwork done. We didn't think we'd have his ashes back before his memorial, but Stephanie made a special trip to the house when they came in the day before his service. We did not do the service at Dorsey-Carlone, just the cremation. Stephanie recommended the Cortlandt Colonial for the celebration of life, which worked out very well. She was extremely helpful and her presence was very comforting during a truly terrible time. I would recommend Dorsey-Carlone without reservation.

When my 46-year old husband died, all I wanted was a cremation; not a funeral, not a casket, not a fancy urn, not memorial candles or cards, not any of the upselling garbage Ned was trying to hawk. He asked questions in a way that made me extremely uncomfortable and upset, as well as upsetting my friend the Reverend, my mother, my sister, and my sister-in-law. Ned reeled at how he'd have to "get extra guys to help" handle my husband's 300lb body and went into morbid detail about what kind of cardboard container they'd have to reinforce to hold my husband. He went on and on about how I was "lucky this isn't Texas because you'd have to embalm the body before cremation." I did NOT need any of this. I asked very specific questions and was treated like a child, with no specific answers given. As a brand-new widow, being treated like a child and charged nearly five thousand dollars to be treated like a child is mind-blowing, disgraceful, and an abomination. I get it, Ned, you're tired and are used to pushing people around who are grief-ridden. What you did was disgusting.

It's in what appears to be a (big) old house and there's another beautiful old house on the same property, with a lovely yard in-between. Apparently this funeral home has been in existence for a very long time.

I chose this place because I was promised nothing was going behind my mother's headstone. Guess…read morewhat, a year later not even half an inch behind hers causing it to lean. Then, some maintenance truck must have hit her headstone and knocked off it's pedestal. I called and they tried to fix it and told me "We've never seen anything like this...it won't budge. Do you have any enemies?" Seriously? Then they just left it broken. They gave up. Then at another funeral I mentioned that they had told me the hill where I buried my mother was really lovely and a nice spot and the woman WHO SOLD ME THE SPOT says outloud..."Oh, you don't want to be there. That's not where I would put my loved one." Really? Okay. The headstone was put in in spring of 2004. I have had flowers I planted stolen, actually dug up and put on someone else's grave. I had winter resistant plants in, they were ripped up. This is the worst cemetery in New York State. The historical aspect is great and 30 years ago...it was great.....but for anyone looking to use it now, the roads are not maintained and there are beer cans all over, people will dig up your planted flowers and steal them, and they damage things with their trucks and don't fix them. I'm looking into having her moved.....they should be the ones paying for it but that will be unlikely.
