I went to this doctor because apparently , the flushing, main st does not have that many good reviews on neck doctors. My impression at first was okay despite the negative reviews I see on yelp. However, after my second trip, things didn't turn nice. Don't get me wrong, the doctor is nice and smart and knows what he's doing. However, you have the receptionists and nurses who have the impression on people who just don't want to work. I noticed on my first time this nurse who took me in and did the regular check-up was not even having it with me... really? It was literally in the morning before 10 am. Can people be that grumpy this early?. Before my second visit, I got a reminder call. The receptionist was not too nice. They were giving me some attitude because my insurance failed ( not my fault, insurance messed up). Anywho, they were not too nice with explaining it. When I actually went for my 2nd visit, there were three receptionists in front, all but one was decently nice. There was this big boned lady who yelled at a customer who was asking if a certain doctor was in this room, if not where. This went on for a min with a lot of attitude. I don't know about you but if someone is working in your company they have to present the company overall. Because what you present to people affects the company and the physician's image. I hope they either replaced the nurses and receptionist or gave them some lecture about office equitte and customer service. Again, the doctor is great. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a doctor's office in the United States. Early this morning, the male receptionist at the front desk was extremely rude. When it was time to check in, he told me I had to pay over $300. I explained that when I made my appointment yesterday, a female receptionist had told me my payment would only be around $90. After I pointed that out, he paused, took out his phone, did some calculations, and then told me the amount was actually over $140, saying it was the $90-something plus a $50 copay. I paid the amount, but I felt very uncomfortable. Before that, I had asked him, "Are you having a bad day? The way you're speaking to me is not appropriate." He replied, "You're the one having a bad day." Later, after I questioned the charge, he simply said, "I looked at it wrong. If you don't believe me, you can look at the computer." He showed absolutely no professionalism or apology for his mistake. My concern is not whether I paid $90 or $140. What bothered me was his rude attitude and the lack of any accountability after making a mistake. It also made me question whether I was being overcharged because the amount kept changing without a clear explanation. I came to see a doctor, not to pay money to be treated disrespectfully. On top of that, the charges were confusing and not explained clearly, leaving me feeling frustrated and uncertain about what I was actually paying for. read more

DO NOT COME HERE... My mother was sent to this office referred by her primary physician. A 60 year old immigrant woman trying her best to keep herself alive with only conversation English. Living in elmont she traveled close to 2 hour just to get here and arrived at 2:15 for her 2:45 appointment. Just so that way she may be able to do any paperwork early. Only to be treated so harshly by the staff. She asked for there help in filling out the paperwork. That it was difficult for her to understand and she was told to leave and come back with it filled if she could not do it herself. All that travel, tired and beaten she calls me upset/crying asking if she said anything wrong and she only asked for help. When I called the office 3 out of the 5 times it went immediately into "this office is closed" the 4th time the receptionist said she couldn't hear me and hung up. 5th and finally when she "could" hear me and approached this issue the stated that it was her coworker who spoke to my mother and she will asses the situation and call back. She did not call back nor did she even try to sound as if she cared. For Mr.Huo...Is this the type of practice you envisioned when you opened this place? Doesn't having staff like this go against your Hippocratic Oath? Would you appreciate your mother being treated this way? I will be filling a complaint with NYSDOH that your practice does not treat patients well. And will be adding this review to any site in mention of this practice. read more

If you want to support your local ENT doctor and help them make money, go to this clinic. The $350 "deposit" isn't a deposit, it's your copay. Everyone gets a hearing test--doesn't matter what you're there for--you get a hearing test so that they can make an extra few hundred out of you. See below for all the reviews on the front desk. I don't really need to add more. The doctor's technique was terrible. Without exaggeration, I can attest that his technique was worse than the nurse I got at a different clinic a few weeks prior. Amazing doctor. He took care of my problem in a minutes where I was having pain in my ear for days. At Maut Sinai they were not that helpful or experienced as doctor Huo. There will NOT be a next time and 2. Your clinic is located smack down in the middle of a heavily Asian populated area and you expect every patient to know perfect English? The office front table is not the most friendly one, however Dr. Huo himself is very nice. Actually listens and answers my questions, and took my concerns of treatment plan into consideration. Initial visit didn't take too long (1.5hrs). Would recommend to family and freidns. read more

First time seeing Dr. Huo for a two months long cough. Wasn't sure about seeing him from the review but it was on my list of doctors referrals. Walk into a packed office on a Monday afternoon with baby crying and was expecting a long afternoon. But the receptionist was good, got the new patient form to fill out and called in within 1/2 hour for a prep exam check with the assistant PA Nat, she was very polite and took all my info and preformed her check before Dr. Huo came in 5 mins. Dr. Huo sent a scoping camera up my nose and down my throat and showing me on the monitor what can be my issue before sending me for a chest X-ray. The whole procedure was done in an hour and my whole experience was very good and both Dr. Huo and his assistant are very professional. Good job and thank you! read more

Dr. Huo is very personable, & answered my questions sufficiently. The wait time was within my expections: 30 minutes from waiting room to another seating area, then about 10 minutes to an exam room. The deduction in stars is due to the PA who initially examined me. At the end of his assessment (cursory history, a quick peek at my ears & throat), he told me he will spray my nose with "a decongestant," then left the room, without informing me of what to expect next in my visit, or washing his hands. I simply figured he'll either come right back or simply wait for Dr. Huo. I started feeling numbness in my nasal passage & throat within minutes. I had a momentary panic when I considered I maybe having an allergic reaction, then realized that he likely gave me Lidocaine spray or some other anesthetic so they may scope me. Granted, it doesn't take a genius to figure this out, but I've worked in health care for over a decade, & I'm a personal stickler for ensuring my patients have clear expectations in any procedure. I'm not sure of how much longer I waited there (maybe 10-15 minutes), & unfortunately the local anesthetic started wearing off by the time Dr. Huo performed a quick scope. It's uncomfortable at worst, but again, there was no explanation of what he is about to do. It's not a horrible experience, but I'll likely won't want to keep coming back should I need allergy shots. read more

The PA from Dr. Huo's office is very competent and thorough in her examination in terms of nose and throat. She is very knowledgeable and I definitely think if you have any problems you should go see her out because she prescribed me a nose spray and I really hate using sprays; I used it today and my nose really stopped running and I am talking about my severe running nose. Therefore, I definitely would go to her. She is just as good as the doctor. read more

I needed to have my left thyroid gland removed and was referred to Dr. Hou. Normally, I'm pretty nervous with surgeries but he was great at explaining the procedure and getting everything set up. Of course, during the actual day of the operation, scheduling chaos ensued (mostly due to a massive snowstorm) but the surgery went smoothly. Had some bad reaction to the anesthesia but that's not anyone's fault. Dr. Hou was also great with the follow up and his office staff are really very courteous, helpful, and professional.
