Jesson & Rains is also a full-service business law firm. Edward and Kelly help businesses and non-profits form and organize, review and draft contracts, and handle employment issues, collections, mechanics liens, insurance disputes, and litigation, should the need arise.
Edward was named to the Business North Carolina Legal Elite list for the Construction category in both 2018 and 2019. Kelly was also named to Business North Carolina Legal Elite for Tax/Estate Planning category in 2019. Less than three percent of all practicing attorneys in the state were selected as Legal Elite.
Kelly was named to the North Carolina Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers for Estate Planning in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, Edward was named to the North Carolina Rising Stars list for Super Lawyers for Construction Litigation. The Rising Stars list is reserved for the top 2.5% of attorneys age 40 or under or who have been practicing for 10 years or less.
Meet the Business Owner: Edward and Kelly J.
Edward's practice focuses on all aspects of civil litigation. He also handles business formation, contract drafting, and the creation of firearm trusts. Prior to joining Jesson & Rains, Edward worked at major law firms in the fields of insurance coverage, bad faith, professional malpractice, construction defects claims, commercial litigation, complex securities fraud, and insider trading actions. He has extensive experience in both federal and state courts.
Kelly focuses on estate planning, probate administration, and business law. She is a seasoned litigator and has tried numerous cases. Prior to joining Jesson & Rains, PLLC, she represented local governments and businesses in matters ranging from personal injury suits in state court to discrimination, police liability, and other constitutional law claims in federal court. Kelly served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Angel A. Cortiñas of the Florida Third District Court of Appeal in Miami.
