We engaged Blood Law to prepare our estate planning documents and were ultimately very disappointed with the experience. The cost of the services ended up being almost double the amount originally quoted, with little transparency along the way about the increasing fees. Before executing the engagement letter, I called to inquire further about the process as the minimum deposit structure seemed odd for the drafting of discreet documents. I was assured that they use the same form of engagement letter for all clients, but that for estate planning clients, the retainer is treated as an estimate that should generally cover the discussed documents unless changes are made to requested services. We made no changes to our requested services, but the cost increased by thousands of dollars without any explanation. When we tried calling and emailing to gain clarity on the significant increase in fees, they (a) refused to speak with us by phone and (b) continued to charge additional fees while ignoring our emails. For something as important and sensitive as estate planning, we expected much clearer communication regarding pricing and billing expectations, and for any professional establishment, we expected that we would be able to receive an explanation of the increase in costs. Even more concerning was the quality of the final documents we received. The estate planning documents were riddled with typographical and formatting errors, including misspelled names and inconsistent font and numbering changes throughout the documents. These are basic details that should have been carefully reviewed before sending finalized legal documents to clients. We ultimately had to spend our own time identifying the mistakes, but were not allowed to fix them ourselves as we were explicitly prohibited from receiving word documents. Therefore, we spent the time identifying the errors, but were charged additional legal fees for the implementation of fixing such scriveners errors. Given the significant cost, we expected substantially greater attention to detail, professionalism, and quality control. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet those expectations. I would not recommend Blood Law for estate planning documents. read more

They took money out of my account without prior notification I paid over 8000 in legal fees fo my divorce fee. were three phone calls and administration. I never even got my husband a representation letter. When I brought this to their attention o was told there would not be refund of last no notification of withdrawal which we had discussed three time prior. Take my advice do not use this firm. I would not use this firm again. I was quoted a price by the attorney who was to work on our Trust. The end amount paid was twice the amount quoted and they would not return the $1300.00 excess we had in our account. Very very disappointed in the service received. read more

I swear If i could put 0 stars, I ABSOLUTLEY would. My lawyer was Michaela Morris. She is the definition of unprofessional. After several weeks and THOUSANDS of dollars with very little communication and a lack of response to my email, I requested a meeting be scheduled. Her paralegal scheduled a phone meeting for the next day and emailed me to confirm. Michaela never called or even had the decency to email me and say she needed to reschedule. Actually, they never even reached out to me to reschedule the meeting, I had to email them to express frustration and was met with an "Im sorry" and "I can reschedule". This after she was late to prior meetings. Not a good look when you're funneling thousands of dollars from me. Moving on.. I had a calendar call come up for court, Dec 4, It was Dec 9 before I heard anything about how that went and the email was immediately followed up with a request for $15,000 PLUS another almost $600. This is a very simple and uncontested custody case.. all of the information the have "collected" on this case CAME FROM ME. I sent this firm every document they have. They have produced absolutely NOTHING. These people have charged me WELL over $10k to file a few motions and attend a virtual calendar call and have a audacity to request another $16K? Absolutely NOT.  So i sent them an emailed requesting my complete file, ofc all they send me were the documents that I sent them myself MONTHS AGO. Pissed isn't the word. What am I paying these people for?!? So today I sent them an email essentially firing them and letting them know exactly why... their response? "That is completely fine". Lol Those emails are attached below. This law firm is disgusting, unprofessional, unethical, and they lack morals. I cannot WAIT to report this to the state bar and open up a civil suit. READ. THE. " do not " use this law firm!!!! my lawyer who supposed to represent me was in a trial somewhere else. i was represented by a newely hired lawyer who had no experiance or any clue about my case. she kept calling me the wrong name in court. i had to finally correst her. . of course ; i lost my case and $12,000. plus, i had charges leveled against me. Do not use this firm under any circumstances! Despite the retainer agreement, the firm will bill you for those not supposed to work on your case. In several cases, I was billed by 5 different people for "case review". I was also billed for things that did not happen, and when I asked for further details, none were provided. The firm also dropped the ball on my case causing me to rack up huge bills for a very simple and straightforward case. In late 2024, I hired Blood Law to handle my Divorce Equitable Distribution. My final cash settlement from the marriage was only $26,000 and they billed me $20,000. I received $6,000 cash from my settlement and they got $20,000. It was a very negative experience. read more

They screwed up my simple divorce which cost me ridiculous amount of money and still didn't get it right. My invoices were wrong constantly, charging me double on one. I gave a 5 thousand dollar deposit into the trust for a custody case; when I was unable to use them in court but was still charged $2 grand and now they refuse to give me back the rest of the money. I wish I would've read the yelp reviews before choosing them to handle a small matter. There Google reviews make them seem so reputable and useful. I hired them to handle a small matter that wasn't $5k worthy. And they breached my contract after withdrawing from my case the week of my court date. They tried to heckle me out of more money when I had enough money to cover my case. They will ask you to pay more money while finding ways to charge you for services they didn't provide. I was recently charged for services when my case was dismissed MONTHS AGO. After reading all of the yelp reviews, we all need to contact the bar of association and FTC. Everyone cases are different but their patterns are the same. They are scheming and taking advantage of hard working people seeking legal assistance. Something needs to be done. DO NOT HIRE BLOOD LAW FIRM - SCAMMERS & NEGLIGENT REPRESENTATION I had an absolutely terrible experience with Michaela Morris and Blood Law Firm, and I strongly advise anyone considering them to look elsewhere for legal representation. I initially paid $250 for a consultation where the reps lied advising Michaela was experienced with cases identical to mine. (Later finding out that Michaela had just got hired there, and the firm she worked at prior to Blood law she did not even work there for 6 months.) I paid $5,000 upfront for my DVPO case and $2,500 upfront for my custody case. (Michaela advised she usually charges $5,000 for each case but that if I hired her for my DVPO case then she would give me a discount on my Custody case.) From the very beginning, communication was horrible. I repeatedly called and emailed for weeks before my court dates, trying to schedule meetings, submit evidence, and prepare for trial - yet I was ignored. When I finally managed to get a phone call from Michaela, Michaela assured me she would prepare trial questions and go over my evidence with me. That ended up never happening. Instead, she waited until the night before my court hearing at 8pm to send me a few trial questions, never reviewed my evidence, and then showed up to court completely unprepared. She even brought blurry, unreadable evidence and refused to submit clear evidence that could have helped my case. She didn't fight for me in court, called me by my abuser's last name, and when I tried to speak up, she told me to be quiet. To make things worse, I later found out that they billed me for services that were never provided - including trial prep meetings that never happened, reviewing emails she never responded to, and courthouse visits she never made. They tried to scam me out of an additional $2,000 for fake charges. When I questioned the charges, instead of fixing their mistakes, a billing rep advised me that Michaela withdrew from my cases, leaving me without legal representation. To justify it, she falsely claimed I was "hostile" and "threatened" her - which was a complete lie. I had not even spoke to her, I only called and spoke with the firm director Helene. Who agreed in email that I was billed for services I did not receive and that I should have received them. Michaela even provided false information to the court and put my personal contact information on public court documents, putting me and my children in danger knowing I had a domestic violence protective order case. This law firm is unprofessional, dishonest, and negligent. They scammed me out of thousands of dollars, failed to represent me properly in court, gave me false legal advice, and then abandoned my case when I held them accountable for their overbilling. If you value your money, your time, and your case, DO NOT HIRE BLOOD LAW FIRM. They will take your money and leave you without proper legal representation. They took money and did nothing for me. When you sign the contract it says one thing, but what they do is the opposite. They are supposed to send an itemized invoice saying where and how the money is used. They do not do this. The receptionist is rude and disrespectful. Blood Law wasted my time and charges me a consult fee. I tried to set up a Trust told me I could there is no reason why I can't as other Attorneys have told me. They gave me no reason why they wouldn't do it for me. I have come to a conclusion that I am a Black Business man and they don't think Blacks can have Trust. read more

This firm was super responsive and was clear and consistent throughout the whole process, can't recommend them enough!

This law firm was a joke. I kept getting invoices with mistakes or just vague information as to what I was being charged for. I received several invoices that would state that I did not owe anything; then later that day, I would receive the exact same invoice but this time it would say that I did owe money. What?! When I would call to speak to someone regarding my invoice, no one would give me a clear answer. It was always, "We will have to call you back." No one would call me back. I was not kept up to date with my case and you could not speak with the attorney, EVER. I felt like they were not working for me. I felt like I was being scammed. The only pleasant experience I had with this firm were the two ladies I spoke with initially. Denise and Cassie. They were genuinely pleasant and explained everything thoroughly. These two ladies were the only good thing about this firm. Make sure you read the fine print in their fee agreement. read more
