We were new residents of the area and we decided to go to Christmas Eve Mass at JDW- it was then that we decided this was the parish for us. we've met so many wonderful friends and participated in many faith based family events. we feel truly blessed to have family here now after relocation away from family and friends. My wife, Vivian, and I drove by this parish just to look at it on a Tuesday afternoon. You should look at their web page to learn about their liturgies and parish activities. Our inspection showed the inside of the church interior to be in typical post-Vatican II style. There is no organ. There is a high quality concert-size piano. The chapel is the entrance area of the church itself. In the entrance of the church proper, there is a nice sized eight-sided baptism font. There are church chairs instead of pews. The church is handicap accessible. Attached is a photograph of the interior. We haven't heard the music. One of the hymnals with the chairs is the "Saint Michael's Hymnal". A fairly typical parish church, located about 1 mile east of the Huntingtown center on Cox Rd. Ample parking. The church looks like it holds about 600 people. Mass is what I would call traditional. Communion at the Mass I attended was only distributed in the center aisle, so it took awhile. People were friendly but not overly so. At the Mass I attended the Priest used notes for his homily, which is not my preference, but he did an ok job of it. They also had two collections, but I'm not sure if that is a weekly occurrence. read more
