This place is cute & has a decent selection of dog/cat products! The prices are a bit higher, but most items seem to be handmade or high-quality, so we did not mind splurging a bit if it means supporting a small business. The first time we went we were double charged for one of the loose treats. We didn't notice it until we were home & didn't really want to fuss over $10 during the holidays. We were not offered a receipt during our second visit (I made sure to ask as I wanted to double-check while there) because their printer was down. I gave them my email but never received anything (yes I checked all folders). It's not a huge deal, but we will probably go elsewhere. read more

Jett and Monkey's is such a cute shop, and it's located in the heart of the East Village. We showed up for Small Business Saturday and brought our dog, Gus along for the trip. The staff was so nice, gave him a couple of bandanas. They've got a lot of specialty items that you would find at any local health-conscious pet market, but there is just something about this location and set-up that makes for a great atmosphere. The little shop is PACKED with toys, clothes, foods, treats, bones, bow ties.. anything you could possibly want. They've got their own small pack of small dogs behind the counter, which is adorable, but they can be overbearing if you're not used to that many dogs in a small area. A great place with an inviting atmosphere and items to make your dog feel like a person, too. We'll definitely be back! read more

Jett and Monkey's is the cutest shop. Right when I walked in I was welcomed by wagging tails and awesome customer service. I originally came in looking for a few treats but left with some awesome Dachshund swag as well. They have a wide variety of food, treats, leashes, clothes etc. I had a hard time picking out what I wanted but ended up buying the soft baked snickerdoodle treats for dogs. Everyone working was very very friendly and even said they try the treats themselves! Wow! Can't wait to come back in the future. This pet shop is fantastic. My dog, Pip, and I visit every couple of days. We're always welcomed with a chorus of dogs behind the counter. They have a great selection of dry and wet dog food, lots of gear and toys, and very friendly and helpful service. They have a great loyalty program as well. We're very lucky to have found such a welcoming shop. The shop itself is very cute with a wide selection, and the owners also host pet-related events and are two of the friendliest people I've met in Des Moines. Jett and Monkey's Dog Shoppe is an adorable store for dog (and cat!) owners who are looking for upscale pet items in a boutique setting. The shop itself is beautiful - exposed brick, bright colors, and great merchandise display. The items that they carry are really unique and not likely to be found at your local PetSmart - my favorite find was a cleverly designed water bowl that keeps our overeager dog from drinking too fast and vomiting all her water back up (gross, I know - but she hasn't done this once with the new bowl!). They have leashes, beds, collars, apparel, grooming products, food, treats, guaranteed indestructible toys... you name it. There is a small selection of cat items, but mostly everything is aimed at dogs. You'll probably even find a few dogs wandering around the store (last time I visited, both Jett and Monkey were in the house). The food they carry is very high-quality, and they have everything from organic treats to baked goods for your pet. I used to visit stores like this in bigger cities and think the East Village would be the perfect place for an upscale pet shop - guess someone else thought it was a good idea too! read more

Well I don't own a dog, never have.. But I have walked a few, and clean poop up off the sidewalk a couple times. And I have also been into Jett and Monkey to buy some gifts for family with dogs! The place is super nice and they always have some pups in the store chilling! You can get it all here, toys, healthy food, leashes, bowls, you name it they got it! I like to give my pups high quality food and treats. Rawhide is not good for dogs, it is not digestible like other dog chews such as duck feet and bully sticks. Petco and Petsmart do not carry many all-natural dog chews, so I was happy when I found Jett and Monkey's Dog Shoppe while staying at a nearby hotel with my pups. Their prices are pretty average for specialty dog shops, and they have a really nice selection and variety of different items and gifts. I stumbled into Jett and Monkey's while visiting Des Moines on business. They have a great selection of toys, treats and food for both dogs and cats. The owner was very knowledgable and helpful in picking out things for my creatures. They also offered to complete orders over the phone and ship the items to me. Both my dog and cat love the Truffle Mac n' Cheese treats I bought there. The catnip crochet toys were also very popular and have since been destroyed from too much playing. Great place to get Halo dog food and safe treats for my Basset hounds. They also have a buy 6 get one free program for Halo which helps because good dog food isn't cheap! On a positive note! It's a local owned store! Amazing location and nice things! However, my wife, dog and I only one in to shop. The person working seemed we were a bother and not welcoming. Being that I was the only one in the store for the first 5 minutes or so I would have appreciated a greeting of some sort. My fiancé walks in with our dog a few minutes later and their group of dogs by the register start barking. Their response, "oh it's cause a chihuahua walked in." Cute stuff in their store and we came in to pick out something for our dog Kaia's birthday. However, it was just a rude, unwelcoming atmosphere. This was the funnest shop I have ever been to visit! We (my Puggle & I) traveled six hours to visit with Jennifer on another matter. While we were waiting to talk to her we walked around the shop. There is anything and everything a dog could want. I was impressed with every customer that walked in brought their dog and was treated like family.
