Jetta in Zachary at the crossing food be old and dried out.. the coffee always empty no good…read moreservice there. But Jetta in slaughter is perfect. They great you when you come in and leave out . The store always clean and coffee always fresh . You can smell it. And it's clean nothing in your coffee floating around..the food is awesome man always fresh bot dried out. I go there every day because they only there game.

This is a great convenient store to get a plate lunch . They offer quite a few different ones every…read moreday. You get a meat, 3 sides and a bread choice for $8.75 tax included . I've been three times twice I've ordered the country fried steak , and once the baked chicken. You can choice one of two of their desserts as one of your sides I've got peach cobbler twice and bread pudding once. The food is actually really good. For sides the usually switch it up I've tried the red beans, macaroni, white beans, Lima beans , cabbage, and broccoli cheese casserole. All of their sides are pretty good as well. My only complaint about the food is once the peach cobbler wasn't all the way done I don't believe because it was all mushy and gooey . The also serve lots of other food items and offer normal convenient store items. The staff is always friendly . Last the only bad thing about coming here is there are so many holes they definitely need a new parking lot . Which honestly won't stop me from grabbing a lunch to go!

Used to be my favorite spot to stop at, even though the prices are higher than other nearby stores…read more But now, the attitudes of the workers there are horrible. They are always fighting with each other. Most of the cashiers are slow, the hot food is horrible now....especially the grits, smh. Such a shame. Not the same place at all.

It was just happenstance that I found this gas station/convenience store. So how and why did I end…read moreup here? I thought you'd never ask. A big part of my life is attending meetings. I never expected when I started my career that it would devolve into one meeting after another, but it has. On this day someone decided to schedule a meeting in the middle of nowhere near Zachary, LA at 9:30. While this may seem like a perfectly reasonable time to set a meeting, this meant a leisurely drive through Baton Rouge during peak traffic times. For those that are unfamiliar with Baton Rouge traffic, I would prefer to be waterboarded that sit in that horrific nightmare. Since I abhor sitting in such traffic, I left 2.5 hours early, fueled up with a massive coffee, and glanced at Waze to see if there was any delay. That giant red line on the map listing a 45 minute delay was like a knife to the junk. I decided the back roads were the way to go, so off I went. If you've never taken the back roads from I-12 to Zachary, you really should. It is a beautiful drive through the country. But remember when I said I got a massive coffee? Yeah. After about hour 1.5 my bladder was fulllllllllllll. I had to pee so badly that I almost considered pulling down some dirt road and then I realized that seemed like the plot from some redneck horror movie. I'm all for rednecks doing redneck things, but buckshot fired at me when I am at a tactical disadvantage didn't sound enjoyable. Then there it was. Crossroad Grocery is an old gas/station convenience store combo. There were the typical small town shop things I expect when I visit places like this. Old men hanging outside talking by a pickup truck, friendly cashiers, and old bathrooms with pervy photo having vending machines above the urinals (has anyone peeing ever really bought horny goat weed).I was so happy when I found this place. I felt like a new man as I drove out of the station. I am super thankful I found this shop. Of you find yourself on the back roads, it's a great place to get gas and pee.
