While the dollar amount is about $5.00 per visit, it adds up not to mention the neglect, deceit and or theft on their parts. The only reason I continue to shop there is the difficulty and time with traffic crossing the Mississippi River bridge into Baton Rouge. I can only assume they are counting on that.

It seems someone wasn't going to come in and it threw the entire day's schedule off. They continued to talk, the cashier continued to scan my purchases. This sort of meeting could have waited a few moments - speak to the cashiers that weren't busy, fill in the cashier helping me later. Customers don't attend staff meetings!!

The time has come for me to update my review of the Red Stick Farmers Market! I can honestly say it…read moreis one of the greatest things about Baton Rouge. It allows residents and visitors to buy fresh locally grown produce and more from small businesses in our community. There are all sorts of vegetables, fungi, and fruits (in season) but that's only the start. One can buy meats and seafood at the Market, as well as dairy products. Then there are the plant vendors, who sell everything from houseplants to garden plants. Then there are the craftspeople who sell things ranging from soap, to canned goods, to baked goods. There's the food vendors as well, in the Main Street Market (which is open weekdays and Saturdays), and at the market tables. There's often live music performed by local artists. There's events for the kids, and adults as well, with themed weekends all summer. Things that emphasize the local produce availing in that time. These can include cooking demonstrations and activities for all ages. There's plenty of free parking in the Galvez Garage, and in inclement weather the market moves inside on the first floor of the Garage so it goes on rain or shine. Going to the Farmers Market is an important weekly event for many people, including me. Give it a try, and you can come to enjoy it as well.

Rusting, dusty shelves, damaged floors, and OVERPRICED food. The meat department needs to be condemned! The meat never looks fresh or edible. If you need something from customer service and they are busy doing something else, be prepared to WAIT until they finish what they are doing before you get service. They don't acknowledge you standing there, not even looking up to at least say "I'll be right with you..."

I've attached a photo of cheese we bought less than 24 hours ago full of mold growth. This is not uncommon for this grocery store. I've had to explain to a manager what powdered milk is & they are constantly out of basics like almond extract or chicken bouillon. I've also had to alert management of very expired product still on the shelves. I want to support local business but this is ridiculous.

Known for their delicious and diverse king cakes, they have all sorts of treats and special items. If they don't have it, they can usually order it as well. I was searching for a unique beer to bring some friends, and they have one of the largest and most unique selections in the state. The list of beers is growing every week as well. It's almost overwhelming all the different types, but hey, just go back and get another kind later! Their chicken salad is probably the best in town. It has flavor and larger pieces of chicken, so it's not a spread like others in town. Their pimento spread is great for parties as well. They have tons of different cheeses and olives and different Calandros brand goodies. Their produce is always fresh and reliable. They don't tend to cater to special diets, so if you have special dietary needs or restrictions, you may have to go to another store for those. But by nature, you can find items that will work for you. Top all of that with friendly owners, friendly staff, and friendly people all around, and it always makes an enjoyable shopping experience!
