We learned about how he ended up in St Thomas and thoroughly enjoyed our shopping experience with him! The selection here is really vast. I originally came in set on the idea of getting the most simple version of this bracelet: silver, no frills. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't consider my options once I was being shown around the pins, rings, earrings, and bracelets--all with different designs, metals, and such. But ultimately, I went with my original, simple choice, and the quality was amazing. Fast forward to this year and I have somehow lost my bracelet. If I were in Ft Lauderdale where I live, these clothes would have been probably $500 or so. Here the prices are more than fair. The staff are pretty nice. They have several fitting rooms. We walked all over downtown St. John looking for the best quality and price on jewelry. The Caribbean hook bracelets are very popular and come in a variety of sizes, styles, and made with different metals. I was looking for .925 sterling silver, and he had a variety already made. When I couldn't find the right size to fit my wrist, the owner said he would make one for me, and we picked it up the next day. I chose the fish hook design (rather than the traditional U hook) with a hammered finish. It's shiny and unique, and I love it! We talked a bit with the soft spoken owner, Terrell, who is from Hickory, NC, and has been in St. John since 2003. We actually ended up purchasing two bracelets, one as a gift for my daughter. Highly recommend if you're wary about being taken advantage of by the many jewelry retailers in the area.

The store was very nice too. I tried on some of the shirts, and got a couple t-shirts to take home. The material is very soft. Significantly softer than cotton, almost like satin. It does wick moisture better than cotton too. This was a significant plus since it was still summer, and I do a lot of outdoor activities. I also just like the way the shirts fit too. I before next summer I would like to buy their bedsheet set. Or at least a pair of pillowcases. The items cost a little more than their cotton counterparts, which is to be expected of course. But I am okay with paying more for a better product. The novelty of wearing a shirt made of bamboo is cool in and of itself, but the fact that its more comfortable, cooler, and wicks moisture better, makes it a very practical, useable product. I plan to buy some more shirts, and make it a staple of my casual clothing, as it's better than cotton in every way. The only fault I could say is that the clothing selection is a bit slim. However, overall, its great, as they have many other things besides clothing. Definitely check this place out. The fact that they are opening locations in regular mainland US cities goes to show that their offerings are not touristy souvenirs, but are very practical products.

For everything that is lesser quality, there are higher quality versions of said items. It's just a fact of life. The question then comes into play, "Is it worth the extra cost?" To me, the extra cost on said luxuries helps mitigate stresses that exist in life. Even if it is minimal or seemingly negligible, it adds up over time. Cariloha is a luxury brand. There's no two ways about it. In my eyes, it's worth every dime. Cariloha sells bamboo-fiber bedsheets, shirts, workout wear, and men's underwear. I can attest that after using their items for over a year. I use fabric softener on all my laundry, and the bamboo items are naturally softer than cotton. In addition, they are cooler (temperature). Cariloha claims it is 3-5 degrees cooler, I argue it might be more. Their shops on all the islands I've visited are tiny. Very tiny. Considering they probably get 1000-2000 people through their shops daily (from cruise ship guests); they are extremely well organized. Everything is folded and neat. When I was there, they were running sales on various items; pretty much the only discounts you will be able to find. Maybe next visit I'll pick up some of the bath towels. Bottom Line: [shouting] Cari-looooooooo-ha!
