    Terrace Park (from Albany website)

This is my neighborhood park. Or at least was. For the first five years of my life, this is the park I walked to, hung out with my friends, and played with virtually every dog who was brave enough to get near my sticky little fingers. I still have five digits on each hand, BTW. I can't remember if neighborhood moms disapproved of us walking to the park in 1945-1950. I think every child on Albany Terrace was included in the "pack" that headed up to the green grass near the clubhouse. SO...its unlikely that those moms disapproved. More likely, it gave them a moment to hang out the laundry in the backyard before we returned home for dinner. Today, when I walk into Terrace Park, I'm thrown back in time to those early days. Very little has actually changed in this little corner of Eden. The play structures are a bit different, one can no longer walk on a car-free pathway all of the way to the corner grocery. (Now Berkeley Natural Foods.) But its still very much the same park, populated by very much the same people who frequented it in 1950. And...in a world of changes, its very reassuring to know that you CAN go home. At least for a brief visit. Once again, thank you Albany.

Nice small park. My wife as getting a pedi on Solano, so I had to bring the kids to a park and this was close. Bathrooms available. Dog park. There bigger kids playground is nice. Sometimes dog crap in the sand. The gated smaller kids park isn't bad either. Parking.. only parking for a few vehicles.

Awesome park for a picnic or similar function. Lots of entertaining dog chaos. -2 stars for mosquito bites.

Nice park. Easy access and I take our little ones there and parents are always very cordial. Kids are happy to come there and play.

IMHO it's worked best for us from ages 1-5 years, although my 6yo still enjoys time in the sandbox. There's a tot friendly slide, a couple baby swings, and a sand lot. Lots of toys - kinda like a toy graveyard. My toddler feels like she hits the jackpot when one still has working batteries and makes noise. A few old play kitchens and houses, board books, plastic trucks, baby walkers, and tricycles and balance bikes. There's benches around the perimeter for parents to watch kids. A mini picnic table for snack break. Lots of nannies bring their kids here on weekday mornings and afternoons - before and after naptime. They turned off the water fountain/ water bottle filler when COVID shut it down. Street parking. Ramp to bring in your stroller. And, bonus for me, my 2yo and 6yo can both be in the SAME park at the same time. A few things to be mindful of: the sandbox has a very small slope that leads down into it, which might surprise emerging walkers. If your kid is like mine and oblivious to folks on the swing, they might get whacked by a swinging person. And sometimes the slide is a bit too fast. My other kid with a big head and dense build rockets off of it like she's on a water slide. But other than that, myself and some other parents can zone out a little, get a slight mental break, or chat with other parents in a tot lot that it's mostly safe.

This area is surrounded by redwoods, so you feel like you're picnicking in the forest. There's a little enclosed playground with play structures, climbing structures, and swings for the little ones. It really was a beautiful and serene venue for a picnic. There's a small parking area that fills up quickly on weekends. There's a soccer field right by the park, and tennis/pickleball courts too. Although the park is located right by the freeway, the redwood trees make you feel like you're out in nature.

My son has soccer here on the weekends resulting in a full parking lot, but as I explored this small but mighty park, it has so much to it. It packs a punch with something for everyone. Downside: * it's located on a very busy thoroughfare, between the highway and San Pablo Ave. * there is indeed no ocean view. I'm assuming this is the neighborhood name. If you cruise up the hill in the residential area, the views are lovely.

It's a nice new playground, with interesting play structures and a nice cushioned ground. Clean bathrooms, water fountains. Unfortunately no shade in the late morning, which is our usual playground time. It looks like they've planted some trees so eventually that will change. Part of the playground is enclosed by a fence, I guess for the smaller kids. But my kids wanted to play in both areas and i found the fence annoying because the gate is on the side farthest from the unfenced section. (I would be in the fenced area with one kid and the other one would want help so I'd have to walk all the way around.) Obviously not a huge deal, but when I'm evaluating playgrounds I certainly think of parental comfort, and how easy it is to park myself in one spot and be able to see everything. Yes it's next to the highway, and there's plenty of traffic noise. But there wasn't any smell or fumes when we were there. We'll certainly continue to come here, most likely on the way to/from Target.

The lady ignored us and continued to fetch with her dogs. The other parent says a lot of neighborhood folks uses the toddler park as a dog park and sometimes she gets scared and won't bring the baby when she sees too many dogs. Come on, there is Point Isabel Dog Park less than 5 min away and Buchanan dog park also less than 5 min away. Please bring your dogs to a dog park and to not a clean children's park!
