I don't like giving bad reviews, but I will always give an honest review. TIP: Check-in on Yelp in order to get 20% off any service. Just got back to the office from my first visit to JG Skin. Feeling a little, irritated/disappointed in my experience. Let me tell you why. I arrived on time to suite 112 for my 1:15p appointment, but saw the sign on the door was for some other company. Nice girl at the front desk said the massage place was in suite 105, as they recently switched, so their business goes to 105 & vice versa all the time. (Weird since I just made the appointment earlier this week & was told suite 112) Ok, no problem. When I walked into suite 105, I was greeted by the lovely typical aromas of a massage parlor. Receptionist desk was empty, but there was signage to please be quiet due to sessions in progress & therapist would be out shortly. Saw on the counter there was a form to complete, so I began filling it out assuming I would be greeted by a person soon. Checked out the spot while I waited (see posted pics) then decided to call Johnna at 1:30p when I had yet to be helped. She answered, saying she had some sort of iPhone download/backup issue that caused her calendar to get messed up, but that she had just parked & would be right in. Ok, I thought. Explanation could've been given when you arrived. All I needed was that last part. Upon her arrival, she was somewhat pleasant & inviting by saying hi but then inquired if I had filled out the form. No sorry, no how are you doing. As I signed the form, she showed me to her room. I didn't get a good scope of it, but it seemed decent & clean enough, although I did notice a small stain on the pillow case she put down for me. She asked if she quoted me for the service, which I told her she said $40 but that I had purchased a Groupon after making the appointment. Right away, she had this demeanor of disappointment, mentioning "they take 1/2". I then told her I checked in & got the 20% deal, if she rather me do that. But since I got a better deal with Groupon, I told her I'd save the 20% for next time. We proceeded with the appointment & as I removed my garment, I explained to her that this was only the 2nd time I've ever gotten a Brazilian, so I was a little scared. We continued on with small talk but when she pulled that first bit off, I naturally screamed my head off. I'm then told to keep it down because there was a massage client in the room next door. Seriously??!?! Maybe you should find a better location, cuz who doesn't yell/scream when getting a Brazilian? Ok, I pulled it together & did what I could to be quieter. Small talk continued. She's been doing this for 3yrs, is in the early stages of pregnancy, & used to clean houses before getting recently divorced. She double checked that I wanted it all off, meaning the inner & outer labia. Yup, sure `nuff! But told her I still wanted the landing strip. 30min later, she wrapped it up & began talking about aftercare product. As she talked, I examined the job & noticed a few hairs still, specifically 1 fairly long one. Upon being called on it, she tells me that she didn't want to continue going over the same spot, as that could cause skin to come up. Oh! I don't want that to happen. But there must be something that can be done. Perhaps TWEEZING the stragglers would be a good idea, as that's what others have done! As I got dressed, she asks how I'll be paying (cash or credit) & says it totals $67! "I'm sorry, what, $67?!?!" is what I said to her. She said it was for the product, to which I respond, "Is that really necessary?" She insists it is in order to avoid bumps & stuff, adding that it can be used on your face, further selling it with "& your husband can use it too." I think all it is was something similar to a face scrub & moisturizer. At least that's what it sounded like. & She didn't even give me the option to purchase, she just said it's necessary. Well, I guess so. But Johnna, I personally think a customer should have the OPTION to purchase. Perhaps if you had done that, I may have wanted to come back for your services. Granted, I probably still wouldn't have bought it, but maybe I would've the next time if I noticed/realized that you were correct & that I did in fact need it. But now, it's too late & I've already made up my mind that I won't be returning. One last thing I forgot to mention: she did offer to trim my eyebrows, as they apparently were needing a little trim-up, so I took her up on it. That was nice of her, but as I look at myself in the mirror, I see she did an ok job. Only ok since I see a hair or 2 still a bit long & she didn't even wipe off the cut hairs from my face! Summary: Johnna was nice & sweet enough, but I feel like her waxing-game needs to be stepped up a notch. IDK if it's prego-brain or what, but hopefully she'll get better organized with her business. Johnna is AMAZING. This was my first time in 10 years and I really appreciated how fast she went while still making it as least painful as possible. She also chatted throughout putting me at ease and had a great "bedside manner." I had anxiety leading up to this appointment but the anticipation was the worst part. Feeling dang presh after seeing Johnna a few times. Cystic acne is tough to manage and with Johnna's help it finally feels like a work in progress rather than a burden to bear. It's a comfortable, independent studio. Johnna is very sweet and great at listening, explaining what she's doing and why, and doesn't just give cookie cutter facials - she truly tailors it to what she sees best fit for you. Let me just say, I have shopped around and am finally at home at JG Skin. By the time I found this place I had finished a membership at another massage studio. I was feeling like I would never receive the level of service and care I need to feel at ease and truly unwind in a massage, then a friend of mine recommended JG Skin. Hey sorry to bug you but I think I'm having an allergic reaction to the glue or something. The last two visits I am having extremely itchy, burning, and red eyes! It's happened twice the evening after your application of lashes. I know I read in your waiver about allergies. So I don't know what todo now. I believe that's why my lashes fell out so soon within 24 to 48 hours. The symptoms lasted about 3 to 4 days. Thoughts? Her response... I use the strongest out of the three types of glue . I also get that sometimes with lashes. If I feel too itchy I pay for a 20$ take off sometimes. I'm so sorry to hear this . If you want to continue I can use a brand new bottle of glue on your next fill . Last time I noticed that my glue didn't look the same . I think it may be getting old . I will through it away. Hopefully it goes away soon . You can use eye drops and also dial soap to wash the lashes . If there is bacteria growing the dial soap suds brushed on will kill it . Not very sanitary!!! Please be cautious people!!!!!! read more

I found Johnna when I was staying in Roseville. She was my first experience with waxing. She does this well. I followed the waxing with a massage also very good and professional. Wish I could go lower with review rating. It has been 3 weeks since I got a full set of eye lash extensions and I still hate them. The lashes are waaaayyyy to long for me, they are very heavy on my eyes and are clumpy! I can see that some of my eyelashes have more than one extention on it and all of my "lashes" are the same length!!!! From corner to corner same length. So I really look like a drag queen gone wrong. Not very professional either, had to text her to get an appointment, she couldn't do it over the phone, odd but what ever and then she was 15 min late!!! Said it would take 2 hours, took almost 3 hours!! Maybe if she didn't go on her phone looking at FB so often during the process it might have been 2 hours! If you are looking for lash extensions I do not recommend the location. read more

Left Johanna's place very satisfied. Booked an appointment last minute, and was still able to be put on her schedule, I brought a Groupon for a Brazilian but she made me cancel it since it takes a chunk out on her end, but I was fine with that since she did do additional waxes on the house for me. I am glad I tried JG Skin. I decided to try some waxing. I found JG Skin online and I am glad I gave Johnna a call. She was very easy to make an appointment with and the pricing was not too unreasonable either. She did a great job so I decided to try her for a massage a few weeks later. She was able to get me in the same day for a 45 minute massage. Again, she did a great job and the pricing was far more reasonable then the chain places, where you only really get a reasonable price if you sign up to be one of their members which locks you in to a contract. I would recommend her for both her waxing services and if you ever are looking for a massage. read more

My first experience here was really pleasant. The building is right off the freeway, which is really convenient. The office's atmosphere was very relaxing, which was a relief. Crystal did my facial and she was very thorough in explaining what she was doing seemed to be knowledgable about the products that she was using as well. She massaged my face it felt so good! Johnna is very professional and passionate about her work. Just had my brows done and was pain free. I have also my facials done. From Korea, Virgina, Texas, and different parts of CA I am impressed with the cleanliness to the products used. The clarity of my skin from the microdemabrasion that was done excellent. Established in 2012.

After being trained in massage therapy at Heartwood Institute in 2001, Johnna owned Healing Touch Massage in Nevada County for several years. In 2011, Johnna attended Federico Beauty College for Esthetician training. After working at European wax center, Johnna opened JG Skin in January of 2012. Preferred booking times at 671 First Street in Lincoln are 9 am to 2 pm Monday through Friday but I often can accommodate later evening and weekend bookings in my Yuba City location 635 Palora inside Lux Beauty Lounge.

Johnna is GREAT! I will definitely be returning especially since there doesn't seem to be any other options in the area for men. Also, my wife's service that she had at the same time was good if not better than the other providers she has had. This was my first time for this type of service but I did a lot of Google research before going so I knew what to expect. It didn't really hurt badly at all and everything felt great afterwards! Her small talk definitely kept my mind off things. To anyone wanting to try this, I would definitely say give it a try. Just make sure to talk to her first about any concerns you have. Her service doesn't cost much compared to others so there is no reason to not give her a try. She is a one woman show with a lot of experience which I liked because I didn't want to be a guinea pig to a trainee. I wouldn't want the guys at the office to know about this so I'm not using my real name. Not sure how others have the guts to do that. One more thing. I think she uses really good wax. It wasn't the kind where you put it on and then a strip that you pull off. It is hard wax and it goes on warm, dries quickly and doesn't really hurt that much when it is pulled off. Wow where do I begin! This woman is horrible as a beautician and as a human being. She was rude to me disrespectful to me and on top of that stole My money and I actually have proof I have a video I took just to make sure nothing shady happened and of course it did. She is a huge liar and on top of all of that she made fun of my skin. She made fun of a lot of things about me it seemed. She came off like she's better than everyone else and on top of that she was very late for her appointment and did not call. I think she just likes saying that she has a business but really she has no business being in business and I will never ever refer a person to her they are scam artists 100%! Basically her background is somewhat of a better word I could use but I'll just say, trailer trash. However she hunted and hunted and found herself a man with a family with money and now she plays that role very well. Please don't buy into her lies. You will absolutely regret getting anything done by her. She burned my face my eyelashes all fell off and she didn't even apologize for a refund or anything she was very snobby about the whole thing. This girl rocks. Johnna is as good as it gets in the massage business. I've been getting massages for 30+ years and she is simply the best. The facility is in a wonderful location, it's clean, and she uses nothing but quality products. The table is comfortable, with a face cradle, and has a heating element (blanket or pad) which I didn't use. Ok, so far everything is good but the only thing that really matters is the quality of the therapist. This is where it's really good. Johnna is as nice a person as you will ever meet and she easily makes a 'connection' with you. It's as though she gets into your mind and her hands move over you like a symphony. A little corny, yeah, but she is so so good. And the waxing thing. I went for it and it was so much easier than I thought it would be. Obviously, pulling your hair out with a wax strip will lead to some discomfort but it wasn't bad at all. And like her massage skills, she is obviously an expert in this area too. I had always woundered about brizillian waxing heard all the horror stories about the pain and one day (a long time ago) ran into Johnnas add and made an appointment I was nervous at first but as soon as I met her Iwas totaly at ease she has the warmest personality I've met she put me at ease from the start explaining all the way what was about to happen it was nowhere near what I had heard ,very pleasent (especialy for a man in mid 50s) after waxing I had the most wounderful Massage , Johnna is so easy to talk to and very detail oriented . I also made appointment for the wife she had the facial , wax and massage and loved it , she also purchased some of her products and is very happy with them . I always look forward to the next session , I also had a great session with Laura as Johnna was on vacation she also is very easy to talk to and gives great massage. All I can say is, Johnna is amazing. I felt bad because I called her to schedule a massage and she cancelled a personal meeting to accommodate me, but she had no complaints and was happy to take care of me. You can tell she runs a tight ship with her business and is very professional and customer service oriented. When I came to her office, she made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Before we began she went through a discussion of any particular areas that needed attention. The actual massage was amazing. I can honestly say it's the best massage I've ever had. She definitely knows her stuff. She is very friendly but will talk as much or as little as you want during the massage. Some therapists won't shut up during the massage, but if you want peace and quiet, she goes with it. I would highly recommend her and can promise you won't be disappointed. I started seeing JG Skin a couple of months after hip replacement surgery. My body favored my left side and I developed lower back pains and stiffness in my right side. Johnna helped me out using the massage techniques needed. My wife and I went to Reno last weekend and stayed at one of the finer hotels. I treated my wife to a couples massage package. The therapists were professional, friendly and experienced in their craft. The package was expensive and I am sure that the staff was well paid by this "big bucks" casino/resort hotel chain. I only pass this on to make a point. The massage in Reno was great, but no better than I get at JG. The massage at JG Skin includes the warmth and friendliness that Johnna adds to the service. Yesterday, I spent my birthday having spa treatments at JG Skin. Johnna, the owner, began my session with a very light waxing that was quick and painless. Next, she performed a HydraFacial with a light chemical peel and finished with electric ionization that made my dry mature skin feel smooth, supple, and nourished. After the facial, she began a one-hour Zen-like massage that total relaxed my sore and achy muscles. In total, her aesthetic skills were excellent, décor soothing and comfortable, and pricing reasonable. I gave her FIVE stars for giving me such a great rejuvenating experience. Another day at jgskin. This time for a one hour massage. The massage was comfortable and very relaxing. I dozed off a couple times dreaming I was on a private island sippin on a nice mojito. Until my phone kept going off, disturbing our session. I got another brazilian wax a couple days ago and it was better than the first. Less painful and a cleaner look. Johnna did a brazilian for me literally in under 10 minutes and it was practically painless (first time doing any sort of waxing, no pain meds, and I'm pregnant!). You can't beat her hospitality and relatability. Her suite is located in a georgeous and tranquil office space and her professionalism/skill are through the roof. I"ve had my wax done by Johnna twice now and both times have been great. She was very professional and the relaxed atmosphere was great. Everything went smooth and there was never an awkward moment. Sure some spots hurt more than others, but that's to be expected when having your hair removed via hot wax. Johnna is a rare find. I've had more than a few massages and there's a lot to doing a quality job. These days there are many MTs out there and finding one with talent like Johnna is not easy. Do yourself a favor and set an appt with her. I've not seen an MT with a better instinct for pace, pressure, and versatile modality.
