You could easily spend your day wandering from stall to stall, from top to bottom taking in the scene. Whether you're looking for flowers, fish, fruits or veg, come to the market and get a deal. But be careful of the merchants who insist on picking the fruit for you! I once came home with over 20 rotten bananas and several squashed kiwis. Even though I only paid something like 3 Euro, I was disappointed because I had to throw most of the fruit out. A friend of mine swears that the market's fishmonger is the best and told me to buy oysters from him so I guess there are good and bad stalls. Even if you don't actually need to buy anything, I suggest you saunter down this street. The funny things that I have overheard from these Dubs could fill the pages of a book.

We were running out of time on our hunt to find them when I realized, 'I've got my trusty guidebook!!' And that's how we ended up here. It was 12 Euros for 6 oysters and a glass of wine. Since there were four of us, the lady was nice enough to give us 4 cups of wine (yes, plastic cups - it's a farmer's market, what do you expect!) They even threw in an extra oyster! SO FRESH! SO BIG! (cue that's-what-she-said joke). Compared to NYC oysters, these babies looked like they were on steroids! They also have this dipping sauce (had onions and was really vinegar-y, but good. But if you don't like the sour, you should just take the oyster straight.) Didn't eat anything else from other stands because we just had lunch. However, I believe they had shish kebabs, crepes, and bread. Oh and FYI - Sheridans Cheesemongers was there (saw this place on Anthony Bourdain when he went to Dublin so thought this might be worth mentioning). Definitely check out this farmer's market!

The pie man has a booth here and they truly are the best pies I've ever had, nice selection of chicken, beef, veg, so much flavor. There are constantly long queues at the checkout. Usually only one register is open with a huge line of people waiting. Sometimes there are two, but only when it's extremely busy. Here, you often can't do that, which is frustrating--especially when you want to send your child to buy something and give them cash. Every time I visit, the staff at the tills seem rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. With the cost of groceries being so high, customers who are spending a lot of money deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect. It beeped, and before I even had a chance to move it back, I was shouted at by the staff member on the till and spoken to as though I were a child. It was unnecessary and quite embarrassing. This isn't an isolated incident - it seems to happen every time I shop here. Tesco has a lot going for it, but the attitude and manner of some staff members really detract from the experience. I think staff would benefit from additional customer service training, particularly in how to speak to and treat paying customers with respect and professionalism.
