Although Bolton cente has a whopping four branches of Greenhalghs this patricular branch is one of the two smaller ones yet still has a decent window display of many mouthwatering cakes etc and a great selection of goods inside. Inside you can buy pretty much what you'd expect from hot sausage rolls and pasties to cakes and cookies as well as sandwiches and drinks. they also offer meal deals etc for adults and kids alike which are always worth considering to make it that bit cheaper. The staff are always friendly and willing and there is a general relaxed atmosphere even when it's heaving with customers. The products themselves are extremely tasty if not a little more expensive then it's competitors Greggs.

First impressions were of a really cool place to hangout (seating for about 20), with an atmosphere and decor that wouldn't be out of place in the Northern Quarter or Didsbury. I got chatting to the girl behind the counter who was very knowledgable of their product range and after myself umming, arrhing and probably over thinking it went for their pie of the week - the pulled chicken balti pie. At £3 for a pie that you'd definitely need to share it was super tasty from first to last bite (lots of meat, good range of veg and a lovely crusty pie case) and good value along with it. I can't wait to go back and try their standard range of pies, see what their next pie of the week is and even give the Stockport pie a go - basically posh meat and potato! Stockport needs more places like LOTP - here's hoping it's the first of many to arrive on the scene.

Especially when their goods are generally pretty tasty and of a higher quality than here. Their selection of savouries and sweets are pretty impressive and rival the other local bakers in the area, but with Greggs and the excellent Greenhalghs just down the way from them, I'd say that Pound Bakery is a place you should go if you literally only have a pound to spend for your dinner. But then again, you can't get a drink. Or some sort of accompaniment, which we all know is imperative to your lunchtime snack.

Greggs are usually £1.85 for 2 pasties, so it at least 85% cheaper than it's rival. The selection of pasties seemed very impressive, better than greggs. And 2 loafs for £1 seemed another great steal. Hot drinks are 50p each and cakes are £1, again great value all rounded to a pound or less. Overall great value for money, good selection and quality that doesn't seem to differ with greggs. It caters for everyone, not just those on a budget, like it very much!

I like to visit here in the summer when they have a small outdoor seating area and you can sit back with a nice sarnie and enjoy the sunshine, making for a relaxing all round experience. As with most of the sandwich companies in Liverpool the staff here are very down to earth and extremely friendly meaning that as well as your food you often get a nice chat here also. The actual range of food here is nothing exceptional but it certainly competes with its many rivals who are dispersed around the city. This company also caters for parties and functions and are good for simple party buffet food. To summarise another very down to earth and unpretentious sandwich shop within Liverpool, let's hope they keep up the good work.

How about a Panini or ciabatta melt? It's all here. The only scruples are the fact that it does tend to be somewhat overpriced, and their fickle pricing system doesn't seem to help matters. I mentioned that I'd been there to a Liverpudlian friend who said, 'Yep, bet if you had that again you'd pay something different for it.' It apparently depends on who's working at the time or how generous they are with the ingredients. Strange, non? Also if you're on foot it's fine and dandy but if you're in transit with a car you won't find parking nearby, the area's emblazoned with double yellows. Never mind, though, because they have CAKE! Yes, homemade and fresh cakes and biscuits which are all exceptionally bad for you and even more exceptionally lovely. If you can get past the few cons this really is a good little sandwich spot for a tasty bit of lunch.

It's expensive for a lunch take away. For my small avocado and chicken sandwich, a smoothie, a yoghurt and a banana it was around £7.50 which I couldn't keep doing every day, but as a one-off it's fine.
