Finally got to Bodega to be greeted warmly, English menus provided once the waiter picked up that our German was less than ideal. I pondered switching over to speaking Spanish, but didn't want to confuse things any more. Had some nice German wine and a collection of tapas - everything was excellent. Didn't get to the main plates (I'm a sucker for tapas) so I can't comment on the offerings there. Dessert (I'm a sucker for that, too) was good - we got a flan and crema catalaña with a sweet sherry. Desserts were decent, but had room for improvement. Would happily go back and recommend this to anybody looking for a change from the great German food in town.

Service was great as we had at least 2 servers catering to our needs. We shared the tapas plate special for 2, and we like it a lot. A fair selection (consisting of artichokes, sardines, olives, seafood salad--love that!, etc), but be aware that it serves mostly as an appetizer as the portion per person was not so big. I had the "Sepia a la Plancha" (grilled squid), and to my surprise (usually I am skeptical about seafood quality in southern Germany), it was fresh and cooked nicely. My friend got the seafood special for 2 (consisting of several types of fish, shrimps, mussels, squid), and they also thought it was cooked nicely. Since our main dishes all come with salad, the servers just brought a huge bowl of salad for us to share. I'm a fan of family-styled dining, so that was a plus for me. Portions for the entree were big, so we had no room left for dessert (sigh...). The meal was on a pricier end, but for a special occasion, one cannot go wrong with Bodega. Tip: If you want to try their Paellas, you would need to make the order much earlier (either a day before or when they open for the day).

We got the Meat Grill Plate for 2 - pork & beef skewers, chicken wings, breaded cheese, broiled potatoes, dips, and salads- it was both filling and really well flavored! The atmosphere was lovely on the inside- high ceilings, wood bar, and set tables. Little out door area too. The place was pretty full and seemed to be locals- It is in a residential area away from the tourist hot spots. A table of Spanish speakers sat near us and it looked like the owner/ manager came out and talked with them too. Last but not least- the service was really good- seemed to be only two servers running the whole place and they had a perfect balance of always being busy working and ready to assist you when you needed them. We originally sat with a couple of local Germans and after they left a musician from the local college joined for her meal. Great schnitzel options here and true charm stood out for us. The tapas are served on simple white plates, it looks like nothing special but believe me, they are soo delicious!! We always go as a group, so we can share several tapas and paella. The paella is not cheap but of high quality ingredients (they're generous with the seafood) and it's always nice crispy at the bottom of the pan, so make sure to scrape that off! If you're lucky, they have live music and flamenco dancers, which is pretty extraordinary. On a summer night we prefer to sit outside though and get tipsy off the homemade sangria :)
