The purpose of my visit was because I've been experiencing symptoms of perimenopause for the last 2 years and over the past year they've started to get worse. When I mentioned some of my symptoms to her, she completely dismissed my concerns and told me "Feeling hot all the time isn't a symptom of perimenopause." She also told me my PCP was full of for sending me to an obgyn and that I should go back to my PCP to address my concerns. The only bloodwork she ordered was to check my thyroid levels (which were normal). She used coded language to fat shame me by telling me I needed to "make lifestyle changes." She also suggested I try magnesium and get on an antidepressant, but failed to look at my medical history and see that I'm already taking an antidepressant. Do not visit this practice, especially not Ms. Johnson, if you are experiencing symptoms of perimenopause or menopause, as you will not be taken seriously.

Once I parked and made it in the office, I signed in. Only a minute later I was called to the front desk and given a parking pass to display in my car window. Once that was done, I was called back. They gave me plenty of time to look over the paperwork about this particular study before signing the release form. My appointment lasted about an hour and a half - a little bit longer than I'd hoped. However, every one there was super nice and friendly.

We called Planned Parenthood and explained the situation. They advised that some of their locations currently had a grant where birth control could be obtained at no charge and they gave us the locations. This location is one of them. We set an appointment and family member asked me to go with them. The appointment went great from the time we arrived. There is a full security check here so be prepared for that. It was pretty easy. Once we entered their office an employee assisted us right away. They took patient through all the paperwork and the process. I sat in for a portion of the appointment with the medical professionals and was highly impressed. One of the first things they asked was if the person wanted me in the room - I love this for the patient! The person did want me there, so I stayed. They went through medical history, reason for visit and options. Everyone was thorough with options and effects. Family member was able to obtain birth control on that same day and felt so much relief. At their regular Dr office they had been going to they were told the appt alone could be $250+ and that the birth control could be $1000 or more... If you are hesitant, I would encourage you to visit this location. Every person we encountered was friendly, informative and patient. We felt very comfortable.
