I hired Jim Stone to shoot a startup demo day in Santa Barbara, California for the Citrix Startup Accelerator. He arrived the day before to make sure that everything was setup on time. I work for the Monterey Jazz Festival and when one of my official photographers was injured right before the 2014 festival, Jim was the first guy I thought of to replace him on short notice. The shots Jim got this year...I can only describe as stunning and iconic. Just absolutely spectacular. He captured images that got a certain 'feel' of the musicians from angles and locations that no other photographer had gotten --ever -- and I have seen the majority of shots from incredible photographers from 57 festivals. I needed a professional head shot updated for my real estate business. In the past, this has been a dreadful experience. Fifteen minutes (or less) in a studio with someone who just makes me feel like any other agent scheduled for the day. I'm a pretty confident person, but these kind of experiences have made me feel self-conscious and lack direction. The results usually reflect that. Then I feel like I want out - but wait - I have to pick from the three not so great pictures. Having Jim take my photo was the absolute opposite. He made me feel relaxed, took his time to bring out my personality, and coached me in such a fun way so that it led to the best photos I've seen of myself EVER (not just in head shots)!
