Jimmy's moved from one side of Dickson to the other, which gave them a bit more space to accommodate more people. Been there a couple of times but it's not a place that makes me want to go back more often.
Food: there's nothing wrong with Jimmy's place food. On that night, we ordered prawn toast as an entree, black pepper beef noodles for my main and bbq/roast pork (char Siew in Cantonese) with one serve of steamed rice for my partner.
The taste of the food was good, the prawn toast was not over cooked, the beef was juicy and easy to chew and the pork was well flavoured.
The wait time for the food wasn't bad either. We had our meals in under 10 minutes.
Service: this part was a little lacking. Once we were seated, it was initially hard to get any attention despite it being one of their less busy nights. Once we had our orders in, service in any form was basically non-existent. No one looked our way, check if everything was ok and even trying to get them to get us our bill was difficult. It was no different from going to buy fast food in that sense, except we were paying more money for this!
Value for money: I am not quite sure if it's worth it. It is slightly more expensive than some of their neighbours. And though they have a pretty strong reputation for good food, I have yet to find a dish that wows me and makes them any different from some of the restaurants even within Dickson itself. read more
