Staff are always friendly and there's a well-stocked liquor section as well, where more or less anything can be found. Open until 10pm every night. Prices are a little extra, as you'd expect from this kind of place.

Brunswick Convenience store pretty much sums it all up in the name. There's your usual selection of cold beverages, general assortment of foodstuffs and last minute items such as deodorant and feminine hygiene products, along with a couple of varieties of phone credit. It has a better than average collection of loose sweets, with individual Trolli jelly lollies, Wicked Fizz, different flavours of Mentos and Zombie Chews among the highlights. The prices across the board are about the same as you'd find at a 7/11. They no longer stock metcards. It's open until midnight seven days, so it's a good late night alternative to the bevy of other supermarket-esque facilities that close up a tad earlier in the area.

I'm with the others here. Lygon (in)Convenience seems to overlook the obvious 'convenience' items…read moreand in doing so renders itself obsolete. Let's focus on the positives and eliminate the negatives. There are two reasons this place is good, three at a stretch. 1) the Commonwealth ATM out front. As a suffering Commonwealth Bank customer, you would understand the fucking hatred you get for using another bank's ATM at $2 a throw. Fuck you Commonwealth! I prize this rare gem of an ATM and will go out of my way to avoid filling you coffers any more than I must. 2) The dude who works here is a gent. He is so apologetic and seems genuinely concerned that they have nothing you require. He could be a fucker about it, but he's not. 3) They sell cold drinks on a hot day. That is all.

No phone credit, no metcards and a small range of goods. Ahmed, the guy that ran it seemed to do the longest shifts you could possibly imagine. I'm sure it has to have stepped up its game since and the guy who runs it seems really nice. It's a good location so should be a prime spot for a more convenient store.

Not exactly a supermarket and not quite a convenience store either, Lygon Fresh is somewhere in…read morebetween. The double shop fronted grocery store sells your usual, run-of-the-mill staple foods and fresh fruit and vegetables, plus a few Asian goodies like sauces and noodles. The last time I popped in, such was my good timing, that I scored a huge, fresh saucer-shaped Turkish bread for only $2.50 - half price. So sizeable was the wheaty treat that it took my man and I a good few days and several homemade dips to finish it off. Hard work, but someone has to do it. Time your visit well and you too can be a breadwinner like me.
