He was straightforward with what could and couldn't be done. The fact that we had 17 year old walls with chips, cracks, holes and puppy bite marks didn't faze him. The whole Dunn crew were fast, efficient, super thorough and friendly. We enjoyed having them in our home! Vince explained the process the entire time and had great communication through the process. Their work is impeccable! They left my home completely clean each day, with Vince personally ensuring the job was well done. The attention to detail was excellent and customer focused service top notch! We are 100% happy with the results. We are so thrilled with this crew we are already planning our next painting job to get them back! If I could give them 10 stars instead of 5 they would get it.

After talking with several paint contractors, I decided to go with Vince Dunn based on his professional approach and high ratings. His fee was more than double the competetors but I'm a person who's willing to pay a premium for a quality job. The job was to repair wrinkled tape joints and paint a FROG. Grave dissapointment came in when I saw botched up tape joints. He subed the job out to an evening part timmer who did not even re-bed new tape and there were globs of plaster troughs along the edges. When I pointed this out Vince became defensive, making rediculous excuses. "It was like that", "not our understanding of the contract", etc. Then he through the simpathy card, "I have bills to pay, overhead, etc." My down payment was enough to cover all that and them some. I'm a fool but not an idiot and wasn't going to pay the balance until he fixed the botched up work. He did agree to come back and fix things but the repairs were marginal. It was very uncomfortable that he put me in the posistion of being the unreasonable, difficult customer. But I just wanted the job that was promised and I was charged for. This was a basic paint job, not the Sistine Chapel. He was also contracted to paint the vaulted living room ceiling and only painted the flat part, not the slanted parts. Said "it's not part of the ceiling. " Completely forgot to paint the front door, said "it wasn't in the contract." The hell it wasn't. I showed him the $500 charge for the front door. Despite the contract, he never painted the door and just refunded the money. But I really needed that door painted! The other painting was mediocore because there was missed spot and you could see the old colors. He told me he was going to apply 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint. Never happened. It became surreal dealing with this crazy, non-sensicle stuff. My only objective was to get the best painter in town but I ended up with a smooth talking salesman who gains your trust, exploits it and doesn't honor his promises. I would expect treatment like this this from a low-end contractor but not from someone who sells themselves as a premium quality contractor just so they can charge premium fees.
