Josh and the team at Purofirst of Gwinnett did a great job on my home. I had some, arguably, fairly…read moremild water damage. A water remediation company, which was overall pretty good, got a little overzealous on removing some paneling that they thought had water damage. We also discovered asbestos in the 60's mastic in the original linoleum beneath some carpet that had to be pulled up.
I dragged my feet looking for a contractor because I'd seen horror stories on the local news, and I didn't know where to begin. My insurance adjuster asked if I had someone to do the work, and when I told him I didn't and needed help, he said they had a few that did good work and were honest. He brought Josh with him on his house visit.
Josh looked at everything, had a few suggestions, noticed a few things that needed to be fixed/replaced that I had not, and then prepared the estimate. When we got the green light to move forward (after the asbestos work and having a plumber jackhammer our slab to replace pipes), Puro said they could start our work in a week, not months. A day later, we received a call that a crew was available the next day!
Tim, Saul, and the team who did most of our project were friendly, courteous, detail-oriented, thorough, and really knew their sh#t. It was clear from the start that they were trustworthy such that we felt fine leaving the house while they worked. They went above and beyond to minimize the mess (drywall, hello?!), hang plastic, and sweep. Saul even painted a few extra feet of one wall because he wanted to be sure it matched well.
Our project entailed re-drywalling and new flooring in our den, which came out great. Our guest room needed paint and trim work. Our small bathroom was a big piece of the work; it was a total redo. Puro's tile guy, Ben, really had his work cut out for him. His work was meticulous -- he's a true craftsman! The end result is #effingawesome!
One of the benefits for us was Puro's relationship with the insurance company. They've clearly built credibility because when they realized the planned drywall wouldn't do the job, Puro worked directly with my insurance company to update the costs, no questions asked. The plumber's work on pouring cement over their handiwork required a diamond saw to even things out -- Josh made a call, and it was handled. There was not one issue with the insurance because of Josh! Shout out to the office staff, Heather and Jennifer. The entire team had great communication. Emails were answered quickly, and no question we asked was treated as dumb -- and trust me -- I'm sure we had some dumb ones! Josh also had great suggestions and ideas, many of which we went with, with great results.
Special thank you to our great insurance company, Central Insurance (never thought I'd say that about an insurance company!), and their awesome adjuster, Coby Jackson. Without Coby, our experience and the eventual review could have been quite different.
Bottom line: we had a 3-week (ish) renovation, which is probably small potatoes for Puro. However, we were always treated like royalty, as if ours was the most important project they had going on. The end result is 3 rooms that we love again!
Disclaimer: yes, I'm a writer for a living, but no, I wasn't asked to write this review, nor did anyone pay me for it. In fact -- I didn't tell Puro I planned to post one! Take this for what it is, an honest recommendation that reflects our experience. If you check my reviews, you'll see I'm equal opportunity with both positive and negative reviews.
