When the next opportunity arrived,I went ahead and booked her. It was a rare moment of being thankful for spam emails. (After not hiring her, i would get emails of mini sessions.) What I've learned after 4 babies, is that a good photographer is worth the price. Moments float by quickly and the next best thing to a time machine is a great photo. In the end, Naz is not expensive. She is upfront with her prices. Other photographers can either be subpar or will up sell you once their session is over. I will tell you that I hate pictures and am very critical in the way I look in them. I was surprised at how great i looked. My oldest has the most unnatural smile, kid #3 thinks he's funny and will do the opposite of what you ask and the baby hates strangers. I thought it was going to be the worse day ever. She worked with me to narrow down our location and vision (I was scattered and had a lot of conflicting ideas) -- all with patience, calm and a steadiness that made me feel super confident with our final plan. Did I mention, I kept changing my mind on everything...?! Naz is super creative, personable and has a magnetic presence that makes you feel completely at ease. Even my super wiggly, active and spazzy 2-year old (who, at the time, was a late walker and just getting a handle on moving around on his own) sat still for and gravitated toward the camera. On April 24th, we finally managed to have the shoot after a month of unfavorable weather, as we were planning an outdoor shoot. Stacey came on time and we had an amazing time! But that was the end of the fairy tale, the rest is a horror story! We paid Stacey her retainer before the shoot, and were told to pay the remaining after the shoot, which we did. We paid her the total amount for a full family shot, and she promised to deliver the photos in 7-10 days. Two weeks later, as I never heard back from her, I tried calling her and emailing her, I was unable to leave a voice mail and she didn't respond to my texts. She got back to me a few days later apologizing and asking me to pay the balance minus a rebate as she was late in delivery, and promising to post the photos the next day. I was surprised as we had already paid this woman the total amount. I emailed her back with a copy of my card statement showing that we paid her the full amount already. And since that day we never ever heard back from her. Never. I first thought something happened to her, and I was genuinely worried. Even my husband thought the same. I realized we had common Facebook friends, so I tried to find out if she was fine, after getting a confirmation that she was fine and her family was fine too, I decided enough was enough and I will let everyone know what she has done to us. We emailed and called and texted, but never got a response, and I left her several voice messages as well. This woman has disappeared with our photos and the money from our session. I am horrified that someone so highly praised in the industry in the area can risk her reputation and behave in this way. Not only we couldn't get our photos, she took our time and money. We really wanted to have photos with our son, before he outgrows his baby chubbiness. Stacey knew this very well. This woman is an absolute fraud and do not trust her!! She stole our memories, the one thing we paid her for. Don't trust her, you have been warned!

By her own admission, Sarah works much more in a photojournalistic style; she focuses on telling a story through her photos, capturing moments and images that are both evocative and beautiful. I also appreciated that her portfolio was more muted and subtle with light and color. I personally find that many photographers are much too bright, even over-exposed, and I didn't want to have to worry about that. Going into the wedding planning, I knew that photography was going to be the largest single thing my wife and I were going to spend money on, so our expectations were high. Despite those high expectations, Sarah still absolutely blew us away! She was professional, communicative, and extremely easy to work with. Going in, Sarah was clear to ask us questions and get clarification for what we wanted from her. Even though she was travelling from doing a wedding the day before in another state, she was punctual, timely, and ready to go. She was perfectly unobtrusive during all the key moments of the day, yet managed to capture them beautifully. She took requests with grace, and even prompted us for photos during the reception that we were exceedingly grateful to have. She took to heart the requests we had made prior to the wedding and followed through with them with precision and care. More than anything else, I was extremely impressed with her vision and direction. Her experience spoke volumes--she was able to guide my wife and I with clarity and directness, while never pushing us or making us feel rushed. The photographer uses a camera that you or I could invest in and the "natural" lighting for photos outside of the studio. The studio shots made my daughter's face look very greasy from all the lighting used in the space of the studio. The pricing changed several times and the deal on Yelp was not provided to me although the photographer said it was. I would definitely shop around and/or ask all the questions you have in writing before signing a contract. I am cutting my losses with the actual sitting fee cost I paid. I WILL NOT be purchasing ANY of the photos from this photographer. Nor will I use this photographer again in the future. I'd like to respond to the photographer's comment. The photographer does not know why I chose to provide my Yelp review now. However, I will share my reasons. After going back and forth with rescheduling a date for the session (once on my terms another on her's) we had the session in October. I purchased the discount deal on Yelp after consulting with the photographer and her asking me where I found her (I found her on Yelp). She just said ok. When we spoke afterwards and I informed her I purchased the deal on Yelp. She tells me she already gave me a discount. During the consultation the photographer asked if it would be an indoor/outdoor session. I exclaimed I would like both so she quoted me a session sitting fee quote for both. The photographer stated in her response to my review she gave me a discount for an indoor/outdoor session. She never stated at the time of the consultation it was for the Yelp discount or that you can only use one discount. I would have made the decision that worked out as the best deal. She provided the online gallery for my review. Before entering the online gallery to review the photos she has a rating/review pop up. In order for you to enter the photos for review you have to rate it review her. I've never seen business practices like this. If your confident about the work you provide you would allow you customers to rate/review you after they review your work. Some of the pictures were good (the offsite photos) others were awful. All the indoor shots in her studio were awful! The indoor studio shots were where all her cap and gown shots were taken. The photographer had an abundance of lighting in her studio and only used "natural" lighting for the gym and outdoor shots. Needless to say, as a "PROFESSIONAL" photographer you prepare and provide lighting regardless. I'm not sure how this photographer feels she went above and beyond for me but, myself along with my daughter were her assistants for the session. So if anyone went above and beyond...it may be the client. Here nor there, I took my lost on the sitting fee cost I paid her for her time. Her quality of photography is by no means the quality of going to a studio. Do your research and get everything in black and white so you do not get bamboozled for SERVICE, QUALITY and YOUR VISION!
