I have been to other counselors and this was by far the worst group of counselors, I actually felt that they were dangerous for vulnerable people that really need help because they were so unprofessional and incompetent. The counselor at Bowie Youth & Family Services made my post traumatic stress so much worse. What did I learn from Bowie Youth & Family Services? That I will never waste my time counseling again, and won't recommend them to anybody.

Called to check in and they're telling me they don't have an appointment scheduled for me despite me having the email confirmation. No one was willing to stay late or see me over lunch. No one cared or offered resources of where else I may get my meds refilled in the mean time. It wasn't until I expressed how unsatisfactory this was that they miraculously found a same day appointment. Very poor service. I used the consult link on the website and stated what I needed but no one ever bothered to respond. I went back to the site to find a contact #. I reached someone and the woman I spoke to during the consultation went as far as to request insurance cards. I sent them over through text. We spoke on the phone for a long while where I told her my traumatic event and my grandkids traumatic event that they experienced. Needless to say it was an emotional consult. I waited months for a follow up and nothing. I texted the 202 number again and inquired about what was going on. You guessed it--no response. What's the point of having g a nicely designed and laid out website where it is filled with non truths and blatant lies. Providers like this should be reported. It's irresponsible especially when dealing with mental health to simply leave people hanging. If your children need therapy for any reason go see Sabra at NextPlace Therapy in Upper Marlboro . She gets back to you same day or the very next day and is honest from day 1. You will be seen within a week.
