I was able to schedule the first appointment on Friday morning. I arrived and checked in. I had a short wait before I was greeted by Adele who performed my services. I originally came in for a silk press but after the consultation it was recommended that I pivot to a deep conditioner and blow dry. Adele was amazing! She was attentive and knowledgeable and consulted with me about everything. She provided great services and was very attentive with my hair. I ended getting a trim and a different style than what I had originally planned but I love this even more. The prices are great too! I can't believe everything came to less than $20!!! Please bring cash for tips! You can pay for services via credit card but can't put tips on the card and the students work very hard!

Each and every time I called, I was transferred and it rang for 3 minutes before hanging up. Upon calling back, the person who answered sounded annoyed as if I was the problem. She never once offered to take a message for whoever coordinates the tours. They have no voicemail to leave a message and you can't reply to the automated texts they send after you fill out their form online to schedule a tour. It just tells you to call to schedule - yet they make it unnecessarily difficult to do so. A first impression of not answering the phone on multiple occasion, hanging up on multiple occasions and having no voicemail when someone wants to enroll says a lot about this school's professionalism. After so many tries, I gave up and contacted another school that booked me for a tour in less than 1/5 of the time I spent trying to get in touch with people at Empire!

I LOVE Rob Roy's in Taunton! I have never had bad service here…read more My grandmother is a hairdresser and for quite some time I was having my hair cut by her. Unfortunately, she lives far away and I knew I had to find somewhere to get my hair cut that was closer to my house. I had already been to Rob Roy's Academy to have my hair done for a few proms, family occasions and even before funerals. I always loved the way my hair came out, so I decided to try having my hair cut at Rob Roy's as well. Needless to say, I was very happy with the results! I now have my hair cut by Rob Roy's roughly every month and a half. They have always been professional and always help me decide how I should cut/style my hair. I have also persuaded other family members to try it as well, and my boyfriend was just as happy with Rob Roy's as I was! I highly recommend Rob Roy's Academy in Taunton. I do realize that it is a hairdresser academy, but I honestly believe that the students are just as capable as any hairdresser! I have even noticed that the students at Rob Roy's take their time and involve you in every step of the process. They listen to what you want and do not just do as they please. I find that the more experienced a hairdresser, the less they listen to their customer (usually!). This is not the case at Rob Roy's. Overall, I love this place. I always get a great haircut and professional service for next to nothing!

I'm currently a cosmetology student at Arthur Angelo an EMPIRE SCHOOL in Providence Rhode Island…read more I'm am discouraged and shocked at the what they call an education. First there is no a structured curriculum . One day we are doing hair cutting, the next braids, the next pin curls and in the next breath we are having a test on waxing which we've never done. When I first started, we were told we weren't allowed to use any salon product on our mannequin because it was a waste for students and cost the company money, so we used water for everything. The school is open enrollment. They accept everyone that comes through the door. Majority of the girls there don't take this seriously and are only there because their welfare counselor told them "this" was a good idea. They're always late if they show up at all and disrupt the "class" any chance they can get. Once (while teaching pedicures) the school refused to allow us to wear the pedicure slippers and told us to tape paper towels on the bottom of our feet. I refused and took a pictures of this horror. The teachers don't want to be there and talk down to the students. We were never taught how to properly curl or blow dry hair. We still burn the hair(I've been there 10 weeks) The theory is a joke. I get good grades. When we have test, The girls that fail are allowed to retake the test right after they've failed it and the new grade which is higher than mine is kept while their failing grade is dis guarded. I'm not allowed to retake the test because I passed the first time. This is a reminder you get exactly what you pay for. This school is the cheapest in the state. They said everything I wanted to hear in order to get me to enroll. I'm currently working on attending a school that takes education seriously. I can no longer attended a school that has no interest in producing hair stylists, partakes in unethical practices and could care less if we learn anything at all .

i cannot agree more with what you've said. i graduated in august of 2010 and since then i have had…read moreno help like the school had promised so many times to give us to get into the field. the school is a complete and entire joke. i'm repaying a $15,000 loan for a career that i now hate and haven't been able to do anything with. the teachers are constantly on cigarette breaks or chasing down students who have gone m.i.a. while the kids who actually want to learn are sitting there waiting for a lesson. i can say that i haven't learned a damn thing because they would give all of the clients who wanted perms and such to the people who had done one before. i can honestly say i have never done a perm or a relaxer on a client. instead, i was given clients who had been waiting for hours and were mad already so they would hate how long i would take even if it was five minutes. the best part is, they would give a client who would tip well to someone who they thought would be the best at whatever service was desired and i would be stuck doing endless pedicures. since graduating, i've noticed that about ten of the people in my class have actually begun a career in the field and everyone else seems to have gone back to school for something else. Also, they pride themselves on knowing exactly what tools you can use for state boards, but once you actually go to take the test they change up everything and you can basically use whatever you want because, like i said, the school is a joke. Also, i don't think it is physically possible for them to be more unprofessional. There were a few times where TEACHERS would come up to me and say "can you please work on this client she's a complete bitch and no one else will take her we know you're really patient." I could say so much more but i'll have to refrain. in all seriousness, POTENTIAL CLIENTS: do not waste your money, while there are some fantastic students that push out amazing work, most of us don't have a clue what we're doing and youu'll probably leave angry or with a half-assed hairstyle because we weren't taught properly. POTENTIAL STUDENTS: do not waste your money on this awful school, spend the extra few thousand and get yourself a career you will actually enojy and go to tony and guy or paul mitchell because i regret choosing empire every single day.

After some recommendations I ended up at Salon De Moda. And boy am I glad I did ! They are open late during the week and have Saturday appointments for those of us who have to work until five or later. My appointment was for two and I was greeted and seated right then. Why make an appointment if I have to wait ? No waiting here. The salon is super clean and very inviting. The workstations look like tool boxes and they have all kinds of neat decor. I was entertained just looking around. Onto the hair experience, I was taken care of by Tanya who is also the owner. What a lovely woman. She did a consultation first which and advised me on what to do to make My hair look full but not have to get it done all the time. I was there for an hour and a half in which my hair was cut and highlighted. This is an hour less Than I've spent at other salons. I was offered a drink which is nice when your just sitting around waiting for color to set. The other stylists are friendly also and every one that walked by said hello and chatted with me for a bit. What a great experience. I can't talk price since it differs for everyone depending on what you have done and kind of hair you have but I can tell you it was reasonable. I love my hair. I would highly recommend going there if your looking for a Hairdresser. Tanya was awesome and I will see her again but I'm sure the other stylist are just as great. Love love love my hair if I didn't say that before.
