Joann's staff at the Woods Crossing, Greenville, SC, location has personalized how Joann's has just stopped trying. Went to Joann's for four specific items: 1" parachute clips; 2" parachute clips; corresponding belting; Walking presser foot; and a Jean-a-ma-jig. Found the parachute clips without a problem but was struggling with the remaining items. Asked the sewing counter associate for help. She chose to point to the haphazard shelves I'd already searched. Reluctantly left the counter only after I asked her to help actually help me look through the mess. The associate pulled out every color despite my reiterating that I needed black. After several minutes of fumbling, the associate said that corporate is not restocking stores because the company's future is sketchy. I told the associate to forget the belting and show me where the jean-a-ma-jigs were kept. No clue. When I explained it's a sewing tool, we over to blankly stare at needles. At this point, the store manager called into the associate's open radio. When the associate responded she was helping a customer, the manager replied "Just tell him we're out of the product; I need you at the counter." A shameless lie. After 20 minutes on my own, I finally dug up what I needed. Everything was in stock but with no reliable system to find it. When checking out, I asked if any applicable coupons were available. The clerk said the buy-3-get-3 clip coupon was automatically applied, even though my receipt verified full payment for all nine clips. Another blank stare when I showed my receipt to the clerk. Joann's soul-crushing corporate culture is not my problem. There are plenty of alternative sources for its dwindling inventory. I do not recommend. I came here around 930 am on a weekday and they open at 9. They weren't busy at all. I've never been to this location ever and I'm not familiar with going to stores like this. I had to get something for someone. I stopped a worker who was walking past me and told her how I was unfamiliar with the store and asked her where something is. She points behind her (not at a specific area) and said it was back there. I was confused and asked where since she was pointing at such a broad direction and asked if her she could show me. This RUDE lady looks at me and "huffs" very loudly and rolls her eyes. I said for her to forget it and walked away. When I did that she ended up walking in front of me and tried to show me. I told her not to worry about it. Turns out the store is so disorganized she couldn't even find it herself. She stopped and asked another rude manager and without looking the manager said if it wasn't in that area then we don't have it. Turns out they did have it but it was in a different area. Interesting since two workers couldn't even find the item but they expected me to. I told the rude worker I didn't appreciate her being rude to me and rolling her eyes at me. She looked at me dead serious and said that she didn't mean to but she had glitter in her eyes and that was why it looked like she rolled her eyes at me. I looked at her and just couldn't speak. The lady at checkout was the only kind soul at this location. I called the 1800 number to complain and it was very obvious it was outsourced. I couldn't understand anything he was saying but he did say someone would contact me in 3 business days. I did the survey and was also emailed back and was told someone would contact me in 3 business days. I messaged them on instagram and was also told I would be contacted in 3 business days. Did anyone contact me? NOPE! It took two weeks. I finally messaged them on ig and told them and someone contacted me within an hour. A lady called me and she said was over that store. I can tell she was with corporate. She did not apologize to me but said she was busy and recently took over this territory. She vaguely asked what happened but interrupted me and said she didn't want to know the description of the lady. Thought that was strange since the workers there were all very different looking with age, hair color, and height. After I told her everything she never apologized. Just said she would try to go to that store next week if she had time and that would only be if she didn't have to go to their sister store. She said she would try to find out what happened and address it but she honestly didn't seem genuine. She seemed busy. She was very crass. I told her I felt like this lady was rude to me because I was with my baby on a weekday and that with me being Asian she treated me differently than she would if a white elderly asked her for help. Sorry, but that's how I feel. Either way the answer would be pretty bad. The lady responded and said that Joann's has a strict policy and blah blah blah. After I got connected, I got put back on hold with the annoying voice mail that repeats over and over again. In reading other reviews, I see the same problem with incredible rudeness has been going on for years. Both times I went in, the cashier was beyond rude. I asked a question, she just stared at me for a while, then shrugged. Her colleague was right there, but she didn't even bother to ask him. The second time, while checking out, I asked her how to find my discount on my phone. Again, she just stared at me silently until I gave up. I have never experienced such a thing! Not sure if the pandemic has run all the employees down or what, but I had a really negative experience here today. I asked an employee at the fabric counter for a very specific item, and she said they don't carry that (huge wrench in the spokes for my project). I spent 15 minutes reworking my project with what fabric they did have only to discover they had plenty of what I was looking for behind a display. 5 feet from the fabric counter. Checking out was even worse. If you don't like people why work in customer service? I'm sure Joann's is hurting for employees like everyone else, but they'll be hurting for customers if these type of interactions are considered acceptable. read more

Plenty of everything if you're a craftsperson. Fabrics, yarns, papers, cutters, notions, limited home decor, seasonal items. I've been in two different Joanns and in both I tend to feel invisible until I confront someone for help. The fabric is plenteous but the thread count is low, thereby making it not as desirable for quilting or garments. Weekly specials are offered on a variety of items. The staff at checkout are usually much more warm and hospitable than the floor staff. Just a personal impression here: both stores where I've shopped are kind of...junky. read more

This seems to be the only game in town when I just need sewing notions and non-quilting fabric (most of the other fabric shops carry fabric and supplies for quilting). The staff is always very helpful and friendly. It's not unusual for me to walk in looking for a particular item and walk out with two huge bags of 'stuff'. It's those specials and coupons that are offered! Today I was looking for a particular quilting book and walked out with fabric to make items for Preemies of the Carolinas and dresses for girls in Haiti. Joann has crafts, jewelry making supplies, patterns, sewing machines, outdoor fabric, fleece, flannel, cotton, collegiate and pro team fabric, specialty fabrics, special occasion fabrics, holiday and patriotic fabrics. This place has poor customer service. None of the employees have any knowledge about the items they sell. Today when I checked out, the entire check out process was silent. I was not greeted or even informed of my total. I went in once to make a large item purchase but ended up going to buy it from another store bc no one could give me any information about the product. Searching for patterns to sew for my baby granddaughter. Pattern books were for Spring/Summer, nothing current to Fall. Pattern drawers were in disarray and NONE of the patterns I wanted were in stock. The final straw was when I went to use the Restroom. The Ladies Room was filthy. Literally, the only booth open was covered in feces. Went to the Family Room where the condition was not much better. As I was coming out of this facility, the door jammed and I could NOT get out. I called out and thankfully a couple came along and the gentleman was able to kick the door opened. It appeared to be buckled and stuck on the tile floor. Again, the store is filthy. I love Joann Fabrics everywhere, it has to be pretty bad to get a low rating from me! It used to be that it was more centered around sewing and geared toward seamstress and home dec hobbyists, yarn etc. Now it is just everything else in addition to that. I usually purchase fabric online instead anymore, but Joann always has patterns on sale, notions you need, yarn, jewelry supplies. I have no interest in scrapbooking etc., but it seems over the years Joann is spreading itself a bit too thin. read more

very disappointing! called before I went (20 min away) to make sure they had what I needed and was told they did in multiple colors. when I arrived, no one ever asked is they could help. .in fact, i finally had to interrupt the employee and customer (they were not discussing fabric) to ask where this fabric was. .there was only 2-3 bolts of what u had asked for and there was only black and white! not a very welcoming store or helpful employees read more
