Long-time Joann Fabrics shopper here. I usually do my damage at the local stores - purchasing the supplies for various creative projects. During the pandemic, it was often tricky to get the merchandise locally, or at least to do so in a timely manner. That's when I started ordering online. Since things have gone back to mostly-normal on the in person shopping experience, I don't do as much buying on the website to ship to me. What I do, though, is usually purchase on the website and have the option of shipments when the local stores don't have enough stock, or if the items are online only. When I use the website I get a discount from Rakuten, plus additional coupons that are only for online ordering. That all being explained, I'm on the website fairly frequently. Shipping is often reasonably quick, so that's a plus. What I am deducting a star for is the website itself. It's often slower / clunkier than an ideal site. It will do things like up the quantity of what I'm ordering. I've learned to check the online cart very carefully before I finish the transaction, because when I want a quantity of one, due to the performance of the site, I may end up with two or three instead. Once the order goes through, the fulfillment can be hit or miss. Not sure if that's on their computer systems globally, or the individual store. I suspect the former. I've had orders confirmed, only to have items cancelled out before it's actually time to pick up. That gets frustrating! I just placed a new order this evening. We'll see how much of what I ordered will actually be available for pick up. Fingers crossed! Wish they'd turn some tech gurus loose on fixing the glitches in the ordering system. That would be amazing, and would help restore more faith in the company to their shoppers. read more

I use the framing department on a regular basis for business and personnel. Always more than satisfied. My son went to China for school and came back with some trinkets that he wanted to save from his trip. We thought why not a shadow box. We brought in the trinkets and I attached a photo of their creativity. It looks awesome!!! Be sure to join their awards program. I made an online order March 7th for $72.27, that came out of my bank account. On March 10th, part of my order was shipped and they charged my account another $32.13. Today on March 13th the second half of my order was shipped and my account got charged $40.14. So my $72 order has cost me $144. In the mean time, it caused my bank account to overdraft which cost me $35. Do NOT order from Joann unless you have unlimited $$$'s in your account! read more

Even though their website says, "curbside delivery" I found the ability to purchase anything from our local Jo-Ann Fabric store in Holyoke very difficult. Everything you'd want (and know they would have) says unavailable for store pick up. I even looked in the window, spotted an item, then looked on line to see if I could purchase it and it says "not available". So I had to resort to shopping online and have it mailed to me. Spent 2 hours online trying to find just the right item I wanted. Ordered it to be delivered. One week later a small plastic envelope showed up. I ordered 12 yards (36 feet or 432inches or 10.97 meters) of ribbon. What I got was a yard and a half of ribbon. I rechecked my order and my order was correct. I ordered and was charged for 12 yards. Noticed they got the charge correct. So I sent a message to their customer service email. Response said 24-48 hours I would get a response. Obviously besides not being able to measure they can't tell time. 72+ hours later, still not response. Going to give it another 36 hours and if no response I'll dispute it with my credit card company. Side note, if you don't plan on servicing the clients during a crisis like this, don't put on your site "curb side service". Totally useless. read more

This JOANN store is located adjacent to the flagship HQ offices. I'll be honest, I pretty strongly dislike certain types of crafting. I came in here looking for some fairly basic supplies for a specific project. The store is HUGE, which is great for crafters, but very overwhelming if you don't come here regularly. I had trouble finding someone to help me, otherwise I could have probably cut my time in half. They appear to only have cashiers and folks in fabric but no one floating. The store itself is extremely well-organized, clean and had several version of the items I needed. They also had a gigantic holiday section that was really a sight to see. I would recommend this location, because after all, if you can't find it here, you probably can't find it anywhere. But for now, I think I'll stick with the Solon location because its less overwhelming! read more

I downloaded their app after hearing lots of positive things from other knitters regarding the variety of available yarn. I tend to purchase both variety and quantity, and was pleased to see new-to-me brands. However, the clearance prices and sale prices were still expensive, and the coupon policy for multiple coupons is misleading. Who has the time to track app coupons vs. paper coupons vs. web coupons? Ordered 18 yards of fabric, they cut it into 12 and 6 yards making it worthless. Then proceeded to charge me three times for the order. They refused to cancel the order, lied about returning my money by releasing the authorizations, waited until all 3 charges hit my account, refuse to refund me. I have to wait 2 weeks to get order that is wrong, then get a return label, send it back, wait a week or more, wait for them to confirm they received it and then they will refund me....maybe. Every time I have called it's the same run around and refusal to do anything except lie that they will release the funds. Horrible customer service and too dumb to get an order right for fabric. They have one job as a fabric online dealer, provide the fabric that way ordered in the length ordered. How do you not get this right when it's all that you do? read more

Joann, the dream place for crafty people. You can find everything you need for your craft projects in this store. The fabric section is just huge and it is actually almost overwhelming, so many choices. Between patterns, colors, textures and design, it's so hard to choose. They also provide classes, which I never tried, but I think is a really good idea to learn and discover some activities. The good thing, at least for me, is that they always have clearance sections. My personal opinion is that they are overall a little pricey, so I am always looking for good deals. read more

on saturday, march 13, 2021 i went to joann's online website. i wanted to purchase a couple items so put them in my cart and tried to check out. i was paying using paypal. after going through the payment processing, i clicked the button to confirm the order, but a box popped up with red letters stating that my order could not go through due to payment not accepted, and to "try again". i did this, going through the checkout as instructed. again, a message in red appeared telling me that no order could be completed and payment was not accepted. again it said "try again". by this time i had had enough and i left the site, not having made any purchase. i then received two emails from paypal saying that joanns had charged me two times for 2 orders that did not go through! paypal cannot remove them. i spoke to them and they said joann's had to delete them from my paypal account since they did not process any orders, but did take payment even though their website checkout said they did not. joann's owes me a refund to my paypal acct. of $31.94. i have just filed a complaint against them with bbb in hudson ohio today, march 16. read more

I was against shopping on Amazon, due to its impact on small businesses, but I bought 4 pieces from Joann two months ago, they were shipped likely 2 weeks after the purchase and they sent the shipments separately and one got lost, they don't provide a tracking number so you can follow up with USPS, you can only track it via their website. the online orders are not associated with any stores so you cant call them to inquire and already I have sent 3 follow-ups emails to their customer service that has not been addressed..so you are better off shopping from Amazon, they are faster, very responsive with a much better customer-oriented service than Joann! I recently decided to take on the task of making some drapes for my kitchen. Cannot think of a better place to go than Joann's for material and notions. This place is a dream come true not only for the fabric selection, but for the craft selection as well. If you are smart, you will get on their mailing list and secure some coupons before you head over there. I always go with coupons and end up saving so much more on what I purchase. Overall, the store is super clean and the people are very helpful. Regardless of that part, the selection is what is impressive. I purchased a wreath online from Joann Fabric on 3/20. Their site says order should arrive 6-10 business days after order placed. Today marks 11 business days and I do not even have a tracking number yet. They have my money and they have my item. I HAVE NOTHING! I have emailed their customer service several times and all I get is scripted replies. One response from them said they would expedite the order....THAT WAS ON THE 24TH. Still nothing! Stealing customer's money is not the way to conduct business! I have never had such a bad experience from an online purchase. I just discovered today, 3/5/2020, in a WNY Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft store that they are selling a product with a grammatical error that should never happen and charging $39.99 for it. If you're thinking BFD (a Toledo, OH acronym), please rethink that conclusion. American schools have already been inadequate for over 50 yrs. An inadequate education equals some seriously adverse consequences because it's logically and scientifically impossible for the former to exist without the latter. So, despite many exceptions, millions of people from GEN Y and Z and possibly the youngest members of GEN X have graduated from high school and college not knowing all they need to know and not having developed critical skills --- thinking, speaking, writing, and comprehending what they read and hear --- to optimum levels as most baby boomers and previous generations had. We have a real mess when that complication is added to the fact that, inasmuch as what we all see and hear out in the world acts as a way of reinforcing what we all learned in school, what younger generations learned is being reinforced . . . changed, actually . . . by incorrect information. If their writing ability is at least reasonably decent after HS and college, its quality will deteriorate after exposure to the mounds of incorrect wiring and punctuation on the Internet and, eventually, in magazines. If their spelling is above average after HS and college because they were fortunate enough to learn reading via phonics, that superior skill will become damaged and/or handicapped by all the incorrect spelling we're seeing all around us. So, what's the error? Jo-Ann Fabric is selling a print of a watercolor of the face of one bunny which has written below it the words "Every Bunniey Welcome" in a manner similar to calligraphy except the last letter in misspelled "bunny" does NOT look like an "s" if that's what it's supposed to be. If it did, the message is still incorrect. Long story short: It's correct as "Every Bunny Welcome" or "All Bunnies Welcome" but not as stamped on the print. So, please, please, please do not buy it and ask your local store to remove all copies from its shelves. If we don't maintain the highest standards, you'll be shocked at how fast and how low our standards of quality and excellence will fall. Thank you. read more

This store is the JoAnn's mother ship. AKA the flagship store. While your smaller local stores don't have all the panel prints this store has a bunch of them. Much appreciated. Square footage is large. Would recommend a bench for the husbands but the seating by the patterns suffices. These people are knowledgeable and considerate. They know their inventory and their store very well. Good with pro tips and guidance when you ask. Great non-boring prints on the heavier canvas fabrics for tote bags and such. If I could, I would give them no star. Here is my first and last experience ordering online. I placed an order a week ago on Sunday for some fabric and 4 zippers. On Tuesday I got email about shipping. The order arrived a week later. To my big surprise I recieved a small envelope with one zipper only. I got this dissapointing explanation: Please note: due to the item being unexpectedly out of stock we were unable to ship the total quantity you ordered. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and your bill has been adjusted accordingly. Thank you, Customer Care. Further, I tried to call them and of course they were already closed since I am on the west coast. I look forward fighting the shipping cost for one zipper that will probably be twice the cost of the zipper. What I am missing here, is a little thinking... I ordered 6 wreaths for my windows for decorating for Christmas on November 26, 2018 to be picked up in store. I didn't hear anything, so contacted them via email one Dec. 2 because I couldn't track my order. The response was that I would hear something back in 48-72 hours. When I didn't hear by the 4th, I contacted them again. Same result. I finally called them today, the 5th, and was told that the product was out of stock. They had never told me that. I asked if they would be getting it back soon, and was told that it was still out. I said that I wanted to cancel the order. THEN I was told that the order had already been cancelled because it was out of stock. NEVER WAS I NOTIFIED, NOR WAS THERE ANY COMMUNICATION WITH ME ABOUT THE ORDER. Cashier was very rude and even when I showed her my valid in-store coupons and the price that my two fleece fabrics were on Jo-Ann.com with my coupons she still did not want to correct the price. I had to ask her 3 times to call a manger up to help me! I truly feel like I was racially discriminated against as even when I showed her a picture of the fleece which said that it was 70 percent off and then I showed her a picture of the sale advertisement, she told me there was no way I would be getting the fleece for that price. The Manger had to come assist me and prove to the rude Cashier that the fleece was supposed to be 70 percent off due to the JoAnn Anniversary sale. Love it!!!! I sew a lot and with 2 boys we are constantly doing craft projects. This is the main store and we come here AT LEAST once a month. They always have a good sale going on and we can usually get things cheap. I try to come alone here, so I can get what I need without interruption. If it's possible, I hate this place even more than I did previously. My father-in-law buys gifts for his employees every year but usually has my husband do the actually leg work. This year, they were both so overwhelmed that they forgot a very important friend/worker so I was forced to go to JoAnn's at the last minute. Ugh! Such a cluster f*ck of over priced sh*t!!! I had the lovely experience of attempting to buy a sewing machine - they only carry two brands, one being Singer (which is crap!) and another being a Viking (which ran no less than $250.00 @ the cheapest). I had bought a Singer sewing machine years ago- never again! so I wasn't willing to take the risk of making yet another costly financial mistake again. However, all I said to (who I thought was an actual JoAnn's employee & later found out isn't) this woman was " I have a Singer & it's junk. What is your return policy if I purchased one and ran into the same unsatisfactory issues & explained what some of them were. I understand these things are incredibly expensive and you don't want someone to break it & claim it was defective; I get it. But because of how expensive they are, I also wanted to get what I paid for...you cannot return any machine if you open the box. I'm sorry, this is bullsh*t, how could you possibly know if it works correctly unless you use it?!? So she continued to attempt to sway me to buy a Viking after explaining to me how Singer's are poor quality machines & a lot of people complain about them...then why is it only one of two options sold? Hm... wasn't buying her pitch. She would not get off my rump about buying this $300.00 + sewing machine once she realized price was not an issue. She kept asking me " Have you made a decision yet"? while I was trying to read the options the other machines offered...she wasn't having it. Standing in line for 15 full minutes when it's beautiful outside is not my idea of a good time and all my fellow customers in line were speaking their frustrations. One woman just gave up and left after waiting abt 10 minutes. Neither one of them addressed the issue at hand. I have once again attached the emails that Joan Fabric sent me with misinformation. Joann Fabric sends me an email that my items have been delivered. I never receive them. They are not trustworthy and they lie about sending products. This company charged made another charge on April 14. I read negative things about this company deceitful practices to keep local stores open during the Coronavirus Pandemic. It seems they do not care about their employees or customers. This sent four emails , still no resolution. One email says it was delivered to Ports Neck CA the other email says it was delivered to my house. The problem is I never received the item. Website stated order would be received within 6-10 business day. I won't ever buy anything from them online again.
