Online it says they are open until 9 on Saturdays. When we walked up to the door there is a sign that says they close at 5, but it was actually 5 minutes to 5 and the door was locked. I've shopped at this store for more than 20 years and never had a bad experience. I also shop at the Cary store and recommend both, although the Cary store is a bit bigger. Fabrics are well-organized and their stock of other craft items, particularly knitting and embroidery, is excellent. They've got a great selection of storage items to help you stay organized, and if you are decorating for a holiday or hosting a holiday-themed party you should definitely shop here. Their Halloween and Christmas decor is just awesome. I've never had to wait long even when the store is at its busiest. The cutting table is always more than adequately staffed and so skillfully organized that the line moves fast. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list and download their app. Sales are frequent and you will receive coupons that give as much as 50 or 60 percent off an item! Patterns can be extremely expensive, particularly the Vogue and Butterick lines, but they are deeply discounted at sale time and you can often find Simplicity and McCall on sale for 1.99 or even .99 cents each. Last but by no means least - the staff knows their stuff. They've helped me with technical questions and provided me with tips on my sewing projects many a time. I like JoAnn and this time I was able to buy the 5 inch foam to replace a cushion that had the 4 inch. This JoAnn is located in a non descript shopping area that has way too many stores vacant, Tenants are leaving in droves and the only remaining anchor is now JoAnn. Landlord must be a slumlord of sorts, I have seen too many stores move elsewhere in the past 5 or 6 years and I hope JoAnn stays since it is very conveniently located as far as distance to where I normally stay when in town, if they move I really hope they find a better place because after Verizon and Stein Mart left this parking lot looks deserted. I was able to find a 4 inch metal ring for a tow bar that nobody else carries around, not even the big guys like Home D and Lowes and for that alone I give them a 5 star. The manager at this store, Zina, is absolutely horrendous to interact with. My wife and 3 year old daughter went into the store the night of 1/17/25 and had a horrific experience. This was all due to your "manager's" attitude. My wife was looking for a nice fabric to use to create a new table cloth for our home and she needed help measuring it out. As anyone would do, went seeking for the nearest employee. Zina was there cutting fabric. Right from the very start Zina had a disgusting attitude. She made it abundantly clear how annoyed she was that my wife asked for help. She snatched the cloth out of my wife's hand and let out the largest most disrespectful and flat out gross sigh. A lot more went on that caused my wife and my small 3 year old daughter to start crying. When we go to Joann's, the last thing I expect is for a "manager" to make my family cry just for asking for assistance. Zina took zero accountability and refused to apologize for her nasty ugly personality. Something needs to be done about her. She is ruining your store. I went and let the other manager on duty know about this incident and she was incredibly sweet and helpful. I believe her name was Meghan. She needs to be recognized for her excellent customer service. She even seemed extremely fed up with Zina's awful customer service skills by stating they get consistent complaints about Zina. I need a store manager ranked above Zina to contact me in regards of this incident. We are very disgruntled. Zina should not be working in any form of customer service. Now, most people who bought this pair of black, very comfy pants off the clearance rack at Gap would have simply tossed them out unless you are Susie Homemaker and have the sew-how know-how to fix them. Being the most non-Susie Homemaker on the planet, I went on the mad hunt to find a replacement tie so I could have them repaired. I found something close at Jo-Ann Fabrics. This is a crafty store for Susie Homemaker -- innumerable types, styles and colors of fabrics, thread, ribbon, patterns, tools and accessories. If this is your type of thing, Jo-Ann's is for you. I found something like I was looking and at a good price. This store's goods isn't my thing, but I was desperate to save my pjs bottoms. The store was rather difficult to navigate and no one seemed to notice or offer to help me. Interesting stuff in the store, though. Update on the pjs: Upon further inspection, the waistband will have to be opened and amazingly I still have the original string that I ripped out. The overall experience when visiting a JOANN store has diminished over the years. It has become the McDonalds experience, full of Chinese manufactured fake household decor items and less about giving you the tools to make your own amazing creations. Over the years, this location has shrunk the scrapbooking paper crafts section to a far cry of its former self, leaving us jonesing for good stuff to make cards and other papery things. This store needs a big overhaul, I use to have a fairly new Joann's by me and it was leaps and bounds better than what is going on here. It is clear the store hasn't been updated in decades, due to this the selection can be quite slacking. I don't usually shop at Joann, but we needed fabric to make masks for my son. There is zero organization to this location and the employees are RUDE. I understand that during this time, working retail can be stressful, but being absolutely awful to your customers makes it worse. At one point in time they had a number system going, but when we were in there, they had papers over the screens. The girl that 'helped' us literally had multiple papers pinned to her clothing that said 'PLEASE KEEP SIX FOOT DISTANCE' that was underlined and highlighted in red. I just can't get with that. Like Lesley F, I also felt myself decaying as I waiting in the line to get some fabric cut. I have heard other people talk about how Jo-Ann's has great fabric selection but the service is awful. It was not just idle chat, that was the truth. I found the items I needed and was dreading the visit to the cutting table, but decided to buck up, get a good attitude going and it will be fine. Passive-aggressive Shannon came out to play as the lady who was helping us acted as if she had just taken a big scoop of poo-poo to eat before I walked up and asked her for help. Oh geez!!! I've always been a big fan of Jo-Ann Fabrics. It's accessible and easy to shop even if you are not a master quilter or sewing expert. I stopped in to look around with no real items in mind. Sometimes you come across something cool when you don't have an agenda. The store is pretty big. It has a great selection of fabrics, ribbons and notions. No project is too small or large for Jo-Ann's. I like to change the buttons on jackets and blazers to jazz them up and Jo-Ann's has a great selection of buttons to choose from. One thing that may annoy some is that the line seems to move like molasses. One reason is if anyone purchase fabric it can cause a hold up but it's like that at any fabric store I've ever shopped so it is actually a common occurrence. It's ok. I feel that Hancock had better quality fabrics and deals. The faux fur here is very poor quality and the staff doesn't cut fur right. Resulting in your car/house looking like a shedding dog. The cutting lines can get long. However they tend to run 50% specials on remnant fabric. They have so many cuts and colors which makes the trip worth it. Everything else I will pass on. Plenty of crafty stuff. It's like Michael's but with a fantastic fabric section. Unfortunately I put all my fabric away because I was thrown off by a rude customer yelling at me for not saying excuse me. What can I say, I had a toddler with me who was slightly unhappy and I was in a mommy haze. Being rude because someone forgot to say excuse me seems way worse than forgetting an excuse me... anyway.... The staff took there time getting to the register (I had to by my toddler a duck toy) because three of them were discussing something some other staff did. "No she didn't!" Was one of there comments in there little circle discussion. It was just not the best experience. If I go back I will review this place again. Maybe it was just an off day. read more

Jo-Ann's is one of the best fabric stores that I've been to, and definitely the best fabric store in Raleigh. They have a really nice selection of common fabrics that stay constant throughout the year (like cotton and quilting fabrics), and they have a good seasonal selection that rotates throughout the year. My two favorite things about the store: the remnants, and the coupons. There's always at least one remnant bin that's typically 50% off, but sometimes can be more than that, too. During busy sales like the Veteran's Day sale, there can be up to 2-3 remnant bins. Just as a tip, if you're looking for just cheap scraps for random projects, wait until the last day of a sale weekend, especially if you're looking for holiday fabrics - other people are probably buying up the same fabrics that you are, and the scraps will be put in the bin the next day. The coupons are great - if you have a smartphone, definitely download the app. One thing that's great about this store is they just scan the coupon off your phone, so you don't have to print any coupons out to use them. Also sign up for their mailing list - you'll get emailed good coupons, on a pretty consistent basis. One of the downsides to the store is that it can take a while to get some fabric cut, so running up there on my lunch break doesn't always work out. Generally there's a line, so you take a number and wait for your number to be called. Sometimes people don't realize this and end up waiting around for a bit before they do, especially new people (it took me a good 3-4 people to figure out where to pick out the number on my first visit - check one of the columns around the cutting table). But that's something you get used to. Outside of Jo-Ann's, the only fabric store I've been to in Raleigh is Hancock Fabrics. Compared to Hancock, Jo-Ann's has a better selection of both fabric and notions, and Hancock doesn't have a smartphone app (that I've been able to find). read more

They did not honor a 20% off total sale which I discussed with a fellow customer and gal at the cutting table. Since we were told to be respectful because everyone is stressed I did not push it. After spending $130 and using 40% off of one cut of fabric, I came home and opened up my e-mail. Yep, there was the 20% for online and in-store purchases. Obviously, employees are unaware of coupons that ran May 2-6th. Yes, after much calling to another store who answers their phone, I was graced by a phonecall by Raleigh store. I heard excuses and yes, if I made a trip back they would figure it out. I live a good half hour away, so another hour would be spent in travel. At this point of making and donating hundreds ofmasks for over a month, I will use the fabric purchased today and be DONE! JoAnn's online has been spotty for a good month with the inability of validating my address. Yeah, the one I have used for 2 years. Yes, I am frustrated but wanted people who use this store to be sure they stand their ground better than I did today. I was respectful and did not challenge. read more

I have placed several online orders during this pandemic and have experienced nothing short of amazing customer service. They have had an over abundance of orders coming in and some how they still continue to have a smile on their faces. If there was less than one star I would rate this store less! The employees are rude, uninformed and disinterested in helping. For a very long time I have tolerated their less than helpful manners. However, today was the worst! Trying to gather information and supplies to make and donate face masks was met with rudeness. They do not have the supplies needed. They don't care to help. The know their website is not equipped to handle the load of buyers wanting to help. Yet, they continue to advertise including through their sales emails for the very products they don't have in stock. Isn't that bait and switch?! I shop at Joann's all the time but usually during the day. The ladies who work the weekly day shifts are so helpful. I had to run in this evening to pick up something quickly and my app wouldn't work and was requesting a new password. The lines were long and Meghan the cashier was extremely cold and not helpful. I love this place because it's very spacious. You can take hours walking around looking at stuff. While I don't mind waiting in line, I do mind the workers attitudes. Most of them are kind. However, there is one older worker there that is just downright rude. She's always working the cutting table. If shes there when you are, you'll know right away who she is. There is one worker, however, that I find uncomfortable to work with. She is an older worker who works at the register and goes by a name that starts with the letter "M". Every single time I deal with her I feel uncomfortable. It happens when I want to add a coupon or another product (like a snack) to my purchase. Every single time I do that, she sighs or rolls her eyes as if I just gave her loads of work on top of what she has to do (talk with the other ladies at the register). All she does is click a button to allow these new items into the transaction. I don't expect to be treated like royalty, but I don't expect to feel like I'm causing some harm to the company by being a customer. read more

poor joann's, always getting a bum rap. I often see and hear the same thing about Joann's, UGH! I HAVE TO WAIT! IT"S SO TERRIBLE!!! But the problem many times isn't the slow pace of the staff, it's the fact that the lady in front of you has 20 bolts of fabric and wants a third of a yard of each. Most saturdays i go, they have every available cutting space filled with staff working their way through the line of crafters. If you're in a hurry, may i suggest, save yourself the heart ache and by pass any fabric store on a saturday. Staff are doing the best they can. Only so many people can cut fabric at one time. So do us all a favor, don't get your panties in a wad when you have to wait....breath through it......it's just fabric, and the good news is, your turn will come. If i have to wait, I just like to think of it as time to plan out my plan of attack on my new fabric....or maybe flip through the pattern book, they will call your number. and if there's a huge line, just grab you're number when you walk in and book it to get you're fabric. The other complaint i often hear is, O! IT'S SO MESSY! UGH!....well......again, often times this stems from the adventures of your fellow shoppers. i see people, pulling things out, shoving them back in, fabric falling down and customers walking on, and while i'm sure the staff would love to help fix this.....they're at the cutting counter, cutting fabric number 15 for someone. so with all that said, let's have a little grace for joann's, its staff, and the neurotic habits of our fellow crafters, :D Personally, I go to Joann's....all.the...time. and frankly, I think this place has a fantastic selection of fabrics and crafty items,....i can always find a fabric calling to me when i walk in, and if it's not on sale, i can always find a coupon, either in the mail, in an email, on their website, in a text message or on the joann's app, and i can use multiple coupons on a visit. What kind of fabric can you find here? well....what do you want? upholstery? quilting? suiting? bridal? prom? silk? fleece? terrycloth? burlap? utility? jean? bottomweights? corduroy? prints? solids? fun? beautiful? who thought that would be cute?.....yep, it's allllllllllllllllllllllllll there! they constantly are running sales on their patterns, 99 cents, or 5 for 5 or all kinds of stuff, i always stock up when they're on a sale. staff can usually answer the questions that i have, but sometimes you get someone who is there for a job, not because they actually know craft stuff. but that's ok! that's what youtube and google are for, :D so all in all, i like joanns, their prices are reasonable, and the selection is fantastic, it's one of my 2 favorite fabric stores in the area, and i can always find a coupon. just go in with a patient spirit and your creative juices ready to flow, b/c fabric will start calling to you. read more
