I used to stop by Mills Outlet all the time and always loved the experience. It's been a few years since my last visit, so I decided to make time to visit today. I've always enjoyed walking the fabric aisles to admire the vibrant colors and unique upholstery designs. They usually have great remnants at good prices, but today, I have to say, I was very disappointed--and this will likely be my last visit. While browsing the precut remnants, I noticed an employee staring at me. I moved to another section of the table, but the same employee "coincidentally" hovered near me again. I ignored it and kept looking, determined to find a piece for a special project I had in mind. As soon as I found something I liked, I turned around to see her standing nearby, pivoted toward me, and she commented, "I see you found something." After a long day at work, I was simply looking for a quick, creative outlet to pick up some fabric for my design project. Instead, I felt scrutinized and uncomfortable. As an avid fabric purchaser who regularly shops in fabric stores from Raleigh to High Point and NYC, this was a disheartening experience. Most stores I frequent are welcoming and allow me to browse freely without unnecessary oversight. Mills Outlet, please do better. Your customers come to you for inspiration, not judgment. I'm no seamstress but this place is so much fun. It makes me wish I would've kept up with my Home Economics classes. In any case if you happen to be a seamstress or are just in need of anything related to material definitely visit Mill Outlet Village. This place is certainly like stepping through time but in a great way. They seem to celebrate a somewhat lost art. There are old pages from newspapers on the walls, antique sewing machines set up on display. The variety of fabrics are by no means out dated however and I like that they have areas with small pieces for various projects. My husband and I wanted to reupholster our dining room chairs and found a pattern we liked in the clearance section. They do have some miscellaneous home items such as lamps, rugs and other decor pieces but mostly fabric. The folks that work here are down to earth and love what they do. If you can't find something just ask. Off Capital it's a tad of a challenge to get into, but well worth a visit. read more

It had been many many years since we had visited Mill Outlet Village. There used to be multiple buildings. Now there is ONE building that has everything you need !! One stop shopping. Their assortment of fabrics is phenomenal. We always head to the "discount corner" first since none of our projects required much fabric. We were able to get 2 out of 3 of our fabric selections for under $10 a yard. We even got foam for a headboard. They have it all !!! Cord, trim, buttons.........This place is a MUST If you are doing any home projects. We were able to get fabric to recover 16 chairs AND fabric and foam for a headboard for under $120. Two thumbs up . Now I need to go and get back to stapling !!! read more

We had some sagging couch cushions that needed to be replaced. We wanted to replace the foam rather than purchasing a new couch. Mill Outlet had great customer service and gave us an accurate quote over the phone. The price was super reasonable, especially compared to some other places we had contacted. We did opt to restuff our cushions ourselves rather than pay $15 per cushion. It is a bit challenging to do so I understand why they charge extra for that...but we were very happy they gave us that option to save us $45! We dropped off a cushion and the cut foam was ready the very next day! Our couch looks and feels like a brand new couch! The foam area is in the back of the store. The rest of this store is huge and has a lot of fun fabrics! read more

Mill Outlet village is a great place to find fabric. Either sew custom items, like bedskirts and shams, yourself or find a competent workroom. All the things I ordered had to be redone elsewhere. There are no samples of work so you have no idea who is doing the work. The sewn items did not match the measurements I gave. Take your faburc elsewhere. read more

She discovered Mill Outlet Village years ago, and she takes advantage of me living here and gets me to purchase things for her. Fortunately the staff there has always been very helpful to this poor guy who hasn't a clue what I am sent in there to get. My husband & I visited Mill Outlet Village for the first time. We were looking to have wicker chair cushions, ottoman cushions & some pillows for my home. A friend told us that we would not be disappointed. I felt a little overwhelmed on entering the store. It was huge!! Soon after a pleasant lady came over & volunteered to help. She directed us to a counter where we met Francesca. She listened to our needs, directed us to the area we needed to check & from there on we felt confident enough to select some fabrics that worked for our needs. Great resource for upholstery/drapery fabrics and notions (custom cut thick foam, all the buttons). I came looking for bra making supplies (microduoplex, lace, cut and sew foam, elastic) which they didn't have. The clothes making fabrics I looked at were either entirely polyester (ponte) or not thick enough for my purposes (flannel). The prices were eye popping cheap or very, very fair. One of my first outings on the day places had "opened" up and I was anxious to get some material for a sewing project I had been wanting to do since the lockdown...But I patiently waited, without complaining until this place opened back up..BOYCOTT!!!!!!.ONLY HALF of the PERSONS waiting on customers had masks and less than HALF of the MANY people in there had masks..sign on door said they were not required...HAH?????? .WHAT KIND OF INTELLIENCE IS THIS SHOWING?????? I went to Mill Outlet Village to get the foam replaced in my sofa's seat cushions. I dropped them off on a Saturday morning and was able to pick up by close of business the following Monday. I was expecting it to take much longer! The cost was moderate and well worth it considering that the new cushions make my sofa feel brand new again. This is not a Joanne Fabric or Michaels big box craft shop. It does have a small section of fabric for garments, but nothing much and definitely no selection for quilting. The Mill Outlet has been around for a very long time and is my go to for good quality home decor fabric, trim, supplies for DIY upholstery or home decor projects. They have a big selection of outdoor fabric too. If you need to make a custom pillow, cushion, roman shade, etc. you will find everything to complete the project. read more

Seems as if Hobie the Cat got in an argument with one of the pillows on my couch (His Couch?) and I'm in the Mill Outlet looking for a pattern that while popular 10 years ago is now a bit out of style. Along comes this nice little Lady that quickly finds my fabric among gazillions of patterns all over the store and makes recommendations for several folks that can reconstruct my pillow. I have never had someone with such a horrible attitude try and help me before. We took a piece of fabric on approval, drove all the way out here to return it and get our $25 refund. Their policy is they don't do cash approvals and you must have your receipt. Realizing we did not have our receipt upon approaching the desk, explained our situation and this particular woman OH MY GOSH I have never in my life. She was so rude and belittling right off the back. And seriously lady get a LIFE, we get it's your policy and could honestly care less about $25 but to be so incredibly rude and disrespectful to customers is just completely unacceptable. THAT is why people hire designers so they don't have to deal with incompetent assholes like the dark haired woman with glasses that works in upholstery at Mill Outlet Village. So this place is, like, some sort of foam and fabric outlet. It is kinda near where I work, so I decided to go here after a trip to Michael's to buy ribbon didn't land the ribbons I was desiring. When I pulled in midday, I was surprised to see SO many people shopping. Large senior crowd up in here during the day. This place is pretty big inside. There's a strong country flair, but you're in NC, so that can go hand in hand with places that sell crafty whatnot. There are giant boards hanging from the ceiling to denote which crafty items are located where. I was able to navigate through and find the ribbon section. I did not find the ribbons I needed here, but their variety was really pretty good. A lot of women were buying fabrics. Most of their fabrics seemed to be geared towards home interiors and upholstery, so keep that in mind if your shopping for fabric for frocks. Traffic can be a bit of a beast in the stretch of Capital Blvd. between Burlington Mills and 540, which is where this place is situated. It is not located near a stoplight, so you'll have to plan to U Turn, which is a bit irritating in a very busy area. Get crafty. Go Mill Outlet. Word. read more

Great place for 90% of what you need for home projects. Doesn't quite carry everything needed for re-upholstering furniture. Wish they would stock/sell curve-ease (aka ply grip). But this store does carry vinyl printed table cloth fabric, gingham for apparel, BUTTONS, outdoor fabrics. I've bought foam, buttons, thread, decorative trims, pillow forms, drapery lining, patterns and many other things there for home decor, for clothing and for costumes. If you are looking for upholstery fabric, then this IS the place to go. If you are looking at other types of fabric, then you would be better off driving down to Wake Forest road & 440 area. They have some nice mirrors and other items too. The most off putting is the large population of elderly customers who put on too much perfume. Staff is nice and helpful. I've been a customer of Mill Outlet Village for at least three decades. In my opinion, this is the best place in the Triangle area for home decor fabrics and trims. Their decorators are helpful, as are the sales associates. I've purchased fabric for dozens of projects, large and small, through the years and highly recommend them. Note that the outbound Capital Blvd/US 1 traffic can be horrendous during the rush hour, and Mill Outlet Village is extremely busy on Saturdays (probably because they aren't open most nights or Sunday. If you can visit the store during week day mornings or early afternoons, you'll likely have better luck getting quick assistance, otherwise, plan to be patient. It will be worth the wait. read more
