Now they called the shop and told them they will not pay for the remaining $1,000 labor charge since I did not use the shop they recommended. Please note, I was not given this option in the beginning, and on top of that why will I take my car to a shop I do not know. This is bad practice that should be illegal.

My HUGE problem with Uvalde EMS is that they refused to accept my insurance information. The gentleman I spoke with assured me that the State of Texas had passed laws that forbade ambulances from collecting via insurance companies. He basically refused my insurance information. He then proceeded to bill me directly. When I wouldn't pay before he submitted a claim to my insurer, he filed the bill with a credit collection lawyer. This company is basically not wanting to settle claims with an insurance company and is gaming the system to unethically extort money. If you have to deal with them, you have my condolences.
