The service we received from Joe went well above and beyond what I was expecting from a wedding DJ! First, before we even hired him, he took the time to meet with us twice to answer our questions, give us ideas and make sure we were comfortable with him and the process. We couldn't meet face-to-face because we live a few hours away so he met with us via Skype video chat. It was a small touch but it made a big difference. I was very impressed with how well Joe worked with our venue coordinator and our wedding planner. You can't go wrong with this DJ. He's just the best. I've been to a lot of weddings in my time, and I've never enjoyed a DJ as much as this one. We booked with Joe after reading his reviews on another website. I wish I found him earlier, as it sounds like he could have handled a lot more of the coordination, too, and knew our venue (Santa Margarita Ranch) extremely well. He was actually out of the country when we booked with him, but he was still able to write back to us and confirm that he received his check (through his wife who handles the money). Impressive! When our date started to roll around, I sent over a small list of songs we wanted as per our coordinator's suggestion. Joe requested we set up a time to talk, and it sounds strange to say/write, but I'm really glad we did! He was extremely professional and easy to talk to, asked me all about how I wanted things to go music-wise, and even played me clips of the processional songs to ensure he got the right vibe. As for the recessional, I hadn't picked one out yet, so he played a few suggestions for me based off of what I said my fiance and I liked. Then he assigned us some "homework" that was perhaps the most fun part of planning our whole wedding - sitting down and picking out a few "seed" songs for him to go off of for the cocktail hour and the dinner hour, as well as our must play and do not play lists. His rate is extremely good, probably the highest value we received throughout the whole process of anyone, and I could have made the value even better if I had him coordinate our wedding too! The one thing I would have done better on my end money wise would have been requesting the balance leading into the day and mailing the check off before the day of, so that I didn't have to worry about it on our wedding day. Oh, and the day of.. he was amazing. It's hard to put it into words, but one of my bridesmaids did quite well. We all first met him at the same time, about to head into our venue for the introductions as he was going up to everyone in the line ensuring we were in the right order and he was saying our names correctly. My bridesmaid said something like "man, I'm excited for this DJ. I feel like just looking at him, I want to dance!". For sure. And then as the night wore on, his song selection was just perfect. We had a great group together, everyone was dancing (very much thanks to him) and having an awesome time. Now my husband and I had chosen a relatively slow song for our last song because we weren't planning on having an after-party. Fortunately for us, even though the party was raging, everyone took this song really well and actually sang along to it as a group. Pretty awesome. But then, the best part, was that Joe picked an additional song as the true last song that was PERFECT. It was an artist we mentioned we liked, but we hadn't specifically mentioned/selected this particular song, and really, I can't think of a better song for that night. I don't know if he always had that up his sleeve or if it was some last minute magic, but ..really, it couldn't have been a better choice. We were very happy with Joe and, in retrospect, would certainly use him again if we were doing the wedding over. A few things that stood out: - Joe was very easy to work with both in preparation for the big day and on the day-of. We were able to hash out all the details beforehand with a couple quick phone calls, and Joe had several suggestions/clarifications for things we hadn't even thought of. On the day-of, Joe was easy going, had everything set up on time, and only needed 1-2 minutes to mic the officiant and review the processional schedule, then left us alone to mingle and do photos. -The music! People LOVED the music during all parts of the wedding. We constantly got comments about how great it was throughout the night. People kept asking us, "Did you guys pick this music?", which humored us because it was very obvious that there was a DJ at the controls. This stands as a testament to how well Joe was able to take our relatively short list of "inspiration" songs and bands and craft a playlist that captured our musical taste perfectly.Bravo, Joe! -As an MC, Joe has a real talent for feeling the mood of the event and making announcements that are both perfectly timed and delivered yet didn't make our guest feel like they were being bossed around or told where to go. If you want someone who makes planning easy, seamless, and fun, then Joe is your man. Planning a destination wedding is difficult enough, but Joe is local to Pismo Beach and he is willing to go above and beyond. He knows a lot of the other wedding vendors in the area and really made sure that we were on the same page about everything and that there were no questions left unanswered. He is perceptive and attentive and we really appreciated him being honest and providing suggestions (after first asking us if we wanted to hear his input). Come wedding day, he worked his magic, checked in a couple times when needed, but otherwise let us enjoy our day and helped move things along quite nicely. I really understand the value of having a wonderful DJ/MC like Joe who can read a crowd and assist with transitioning the different wedding events with ease. We had SO much fun! Our guests really enjoyed the music and even the other vendors commented about how awesome of a party it was. I wish we could go back and relive it all over again! Thank you so much Joe! read more
