Extremely poor customer service. I was biking by and had an issue with my breaks. Figured I would stop in to ask if I could get an appointment (I've gone once before and didn't need one, but it's early in the semester so I figured I'd check). When I tried to open the door a bike was in the way. Waited for someone to help move it, then when I walked in I was completely ignored so I waited until the worker yelled "why are you opening my door" at me. I was shocked and said "sorry, I wasn't sure if you would want me to bring my bike in to look at it when it's my turn." He then said "look around does it look like I can have another bike in here? What's wrong with your bike anyway?" I told him I was sorry (why? I don't know, I hadn't done anything wrong) and that the breaks were no longer working. He said, still in an awful tone, "well I can't get to it for weeks so good luck." I turned around and left trying not to cry. Do not go here--try the Great Bicycle Shop instead--they were excellent and so kind. read more

Like a good many of you, I've seen Joe's Bike Shop all along - it's just never occurred to me to bring my bike here. Well, 'lo, I had my bike "tuned up" (i.e., $85.00 for looking it over and squirting oil here and there) at another shop, but my left gear shift was still troublesome from 1 to 2 to 1. So I was walking around Lake Ella and I spied a pretty sweet Land Cruiser parked out back and so, naturally, that was going to cause me to "pull over" and check it out. The owner (Ed) was nearby and we talked about it for about 20 minutes. As an aside, it was a Lexus - which means it had MORE than a Land Cruiser, but without the cachet of the LC badge. Anyway - simply based on that exchange, I brought my bike in and two days later, I was ready to pay Joe and he said it was free. That just didn't make any sense - but, sure enough, I shifted through and it was as expected. I insisted on a healthy tip - it was worth it - and now I know where to take our bikes moving forward. read more

I found out it was the owner who was working and complained about how he pays rent for the bike shop and customers don't buy enough. Joe's Bike Shop is a great local shop to get a bike or a repair. My wife and I went to Joe's without having much knowledge about bikes. We just wanted a couple of bikes that would allow us to ride on trails, on the road, or in the neighborhood. Joe was very friendly and very helpful. He gave us a few bikes each to try out that fit our needs. He also let us ride the bikes around Lake Ella to get a feel for them. We had a blast! Once we decided which bikes we liked most, he gave us very reasonable deals on them. The shop also has biking accessories and offers repairs/cleaning for bikes. We have now had our bikes for about 6 months and couldn't be happier! In summary, Joe's Bike Shop was the perfect place for us to get bikes! Joe is very friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely will not give my future business or a recommendation for Joe's. I took my old Trek to him for clean up, tune up, tires (both existing were noticeably shredded) and tubes if needed. Picked it up a few days later and immediately recognized the old shredded tires were not replaced. One tube had been replaced (Joe argued that both tubes replaced) and bike was cleaned and lubed. My problem with Joe is that he was not truthful nor was he even aware of what he or his staff had actually done. I mean, how does a bike mechanic rem 2 shredded tire, replace a tube and not notice the ragged tire. In the end he did replace the tires but charged me for additional labor which I feel was exorbitant under the circumstance. You know what they say about 1st impressions...! Stopped by per the recommendation of several friends to look for an entry level mountain bike, and noticed a few that caught my eye. I have shopped for bike parts and work any most all places in Tallahassee. Joe's is the best place for prices and service. He sells $5 tubes "All Day Long" and replaced a bladed spoke on my road bike for $10. Other places in town charge over $9 tubes and over $30 to replace a spoke. Save you time and money and go to Joe's first. read more

This may be the cheapest bike shop in town, but as in so many things, you get what you pay for. I went in with a bike problem, left my bike, and returned to pick it up a day or two later. So far so good: good price and fast service, I thought. But on my first ride, I noticed two problems, one of which (clearly the result of a sloppy job at Joe's bike shop) I was able to fix myself. But the other was beyond my abilities, so I returned to Joe's and explained the problem; Joe made an adjustment (at no charge), and I went home with my bike, thinking it was taken care of. On my first ride following this fix, I realized that the problem was still there. So again I returned, and this time Joe's assistant made another adjustment (again, no additional charge) and suggested that I was at fault for not making this adjustment myself. On neither occasion did Joe (Who was present during all my visits ) so much as express regret that I had been inconvenienced. So basically, I made three trips to Joe's bike shop for a job that should have required only one. Guess where I will be taking my bike for future service. read more
