Ten minutes later the owner John came up my walk and I directed him to the crawl space, whereupon he emerged 5 minutes later with the verdict: the 12 year old water heater was DOA and leaking. Since my mechanicals are all squeezed into a crawl-space, he would need to locate a new heater designed to fit in such spaces. He spent about 10 minutes on his phone and told me he could have a supply house in Hanover drive one right up. Additionally, he told me an electrician would be necessary to install an emergency cutoff switch and offered his go-to guy if I didn't have one. I didn't and he made the call. An hour later he came back with his helper and the new tank. Meyer Electric out of Swartswood showed up 10 minutes later and both crews went to work. 3 hours elapsed and I was back in business! I am completely satisfied with the workmanship and with the fast response to hot water dilemma. I love that the operation is a family affair and local. I'm lucky too that John has a good relationship with Bill Meyer Electric, who came on very short notice and did the work for a fair price. This was a 2 day project using the 1st day to remove the old system and seal ducts and day 2 to install and test the new system. They arrived on time with all the necessary parts and equipment to handle any potential problems. During the duct sealing process, it was determined that the existing duct structure had the equivalent of a 25.8 square hole. After sealing, this was reduced to the equivalent of a 2.3 square inch hole. IMPRESSIVE ! The new system was installed per plan and has been running well for over a month which includes one or two 90 degree days. It is so quiet that one can hardly hear it. I picked Monday (since the weather was horrible and I thought the problem was in the outdoor part of the system). The tech was there on time, was courteous, professional, showed me what was wrong and how he fixed it. He informed me of what he was doing along the way, and made sure I knew more and less expensive options (when available) for parts he used. I would highly recommend this company for all HVAC needs. The three installation guys (Michael, Jamie and Darrell) were great! They cleaned the work area and left and everything nicer than it was before the work began. I was really impressed with the quality of their work and the professionalism of the guys installing the system (and they are very likeable personable guys too!) I had 3 other quotes from other companies. Like one review here said, H&I weren't the lowest quote and they weren't the highest quote I received, they were right about in the middle. In the end, I went with them because: 1. I already do business with them for my oil delivery so I already know they are super nice and helpful. 2. They didn't have a pushy salesman that pushed me to close the deal the same day as the quote like another company I had give me a quote did. 3. They were honest (at least I believe they were haha). There was another sales guy from another company that told me BS and I knew it was BS when he told me because in my research I found things that contradicted what he told me (and other techs I spoke to said he was incorrect.).
