So, today these guys came over to check out a possible short in our heating system. First off- they called when they said they would, and, the showed up on time too! Now, I don't know how many folks have had contractors never call back, then, not show up- has happened to us more often than not, so, I'm really impressed. Imagine my surprise when this young guy, Miguel, shows up (I admit I was skeptical because he looked like a high schooler). He asks me to describe the problem, and actually LISTENS, takes notes, and gets to work right away. He was here checking every connection and determined the problem. Even replaced the batteries in our main thermostat. Suggested a course of action, put everything back together and promised to get us an estimate in a few days. Did I mention he wire these little booties covering his shoes so as not to damage or dirty my wood floors? I've never experienced such an articulate, professional & knowledgeable technician. He was also able to explain the problem and the solution to me in a way that I understood our options. I can't say enough about him & this company. Always a great experience when working with BSE Mechanical. I've had them do tons of work for both Plumbing and AC service for my home in Warwick, NY. Good pricing, great service and unlike many of their competitors, still locally owned and operated. And pricing is a great deal less then other Full Service HVAC & Plumbing companies. Starting with the estimate Mike came on time went over the entire job and available options for a new boiler install to replace my 31 year old boiler. The price was fair and I witnessed a boiler install they did five years Prior, so I knew they did nice work so I hired BSE Mechanical. The install, three men showed up with three trucks. Eric Cody and Joe showed up for the job. Joe was great laying out the new boiler design and going over my concerns with the job. Cody was busy piping out the boiler controls, valves and components While Eric was wiring up all the electrical components, this three-man team was a pleasure to watch work in harmony. Had to have my garbage disposal replaced. BSE Mechanical was able to schedule and have repaired with 48 hours of my initial request. Jodi and Walter were great to work with- professional and respectful. Walter made sure there were no leaks, the disposal works properly, and the area under the sink was clean. These guys rock the clock. Excellent communication, prompt arrival, low impact to the home. Did a full bathroom addition and even though they had to do some follow-up work that was slightly unrelated, they did NOT charge us extra. I had guests over at my new house right before New Year's, and my water well pump seem to be giving out. I called friend of mine who I lived in the area for quite some time, and he recommend I called BSE. I can't believe how excellent these guys were. They were able to pencil me in that day, and made it to my house within an hour to assess my situation. Mike and Tony then left to make a quick trip to get supplies, and were back at my house within moments. They were able to get my well pump switched out in below-freezing temperatures quickly, and it cost me a lot less than I thought it was going to cost. They also went above and beyond, explaining my water purification system to me (as I had never had one before), and loaning me a hose and nozzle so I could flush the sediment out of my lines with the new pump. From this day forward, these guys are the only ones who are going to be allowed to touch my water system at my house. They are very trustworthy, knowledgeable, honest, and extremely reliable. If you have a problem with your water system, these are the first guys you should call. You will be glad that you did. read more

This company is reliable and fast. Eric, the technician, was knowledgable, efficient and very helpful. He came for a furnace cleaning and checkup and went well above and beyond by checking an old thermostat and advising me on an upgrade, as well as bleeding air out of a baseboard heater in a very inconvenient and annoying place. These guys may be good with basic plumbing and leaky faucets but beware with high end fixtures such as exhaust fans and ovens. They do not do any research before moving things and breaking them permanently without remediation or taking ownership for their mistakes. This review and rating is based 100% on their pricing. Prices are beyond ridiculous. It took literally a total of 37 minutes according to my ring doorbell camera times from the time they pulled up to my house until they drove away. Actual time changing the part on my boiler was about 25-30 minutes and I was charged $340. They completely take advantage of their customers. They charge $145 for the service call. That is just to step in the door, nothing else at all. No evaluation of the problem or anything at all is included in that. And that is not an emergency call. This is during normal business hours. Then they charge you an absurd amount, which is a flat fee, for whatever specific part you need replaced. They charged me $175 to change a $25 zone valve head. This was NOT replacing the entire zone valve where they would have needed to drain the system, sweat the fitting to remove the old valve and put in the new one, then refill and bleed the system. This was "simply" unscrewing the head from the zone valve and screwing the new head in. I understand that it is "labor" to unscrew and screw the new part in and they certainly should be compensated for that labor, but they clearly gouge their customers on the pricing. Any decent company that cares about their customers would take into effect the actual labor being done and bill their customer's accordingly. So in the end I got charged $340 for a $25 part and 30 minutes of labor. That's means it cost me $315 for the total of 37 minutes they were at my location ($145 service call to walk in the door, nothing else + $150 labor + tax). I not only verified this pricing policy with the technician that was at my house but I also called the office and spoke to them to confirm. I have zero complaints about the physical work that was done or the person that did the work. They were friendly, knowledgeable and quickly did a great job. After reading this review make a decision for yourself on whether you would choose to do business with a company that operates like this and clearly does not value their customer's. I will mention that I have been a very long time customer of this business on large projects (ie: New house construction and additions) and while I did not expect any discounts and I am certainly willing to pay for service at a reasonable rate, I also did not expect to get taken advantage of with the pricing issue I mentioned in my review. It is sad that this is their operating model and I do not see that I will personally use them going forward unless I am left with no other option. Hopefully I provided enough detail on my experience for you to make an informed decision. I also posted this review on their Facebook page. BSE is great. Reliable, friendly, courteous - all of it. I first came to use them when I was having an emergency - a frozen pipe, no heat during a frigid winter when I know they had tons of other emergencies. And I was not a customer at that time - but they treated me like I had been a customer all my life. And I have been since that day, probably 8 years ago now. Seriously - couldn't think of a better company!!! We knew it must be "too good to be true" when we bought our house in West Milford - turns out we didn't know how correct of a statement that was! It's really turning out to be the money pit! However, Brian & Stacy, along with Louis and Laura from the office, have made a set of terrible circumstances go as well as possible. They are VERY respondent to calls, super organized scheduling, and they really care about their customers. The owner, Brian, has made multiple visits to our home - both to look at complicated situations/give quotes, but also just to check on how everything is going. I typically don't write reviews, but I received such great service from these guys today that I made an exception. Woke up to no heat. Called them and scheduled an appointment with an hour and a half window. They showed up as promised. When troubleshooting didn't identify the problem right away, the tech called for help. The owner and another tech showed up to evaluate. They reviewed all that was done, put their heads together, and solved the problem. I now have heat. Great service at a fair price.
