Not too shabby at all - considering highly priced airport food! Their selections of the buffet included salads, sausages with pieces of pork, pancakes and bread! It was a deal! You get to dine in as well, which was leisurely great! If you are not too hungry for a buffet, they do offer quiches, sandwiches, beverages and the usual cafe items at the front! This grand cafe conveniently has wifi too! I loved to linger here while awaiting for my flight returning home!

They are actually raising the standard of what is offered at the airport. The coffee is pretty good, using beans from micro roaster Haugaard, and they beat most of the other competition at Arlanda but the coffee offering is actually starting to be pretty good now with Johan and Nyström in Terminal 2 and 4, RC Chocolat at Sky City and in Terminal 5 as well as espresso House at arrivals in Terminal 5. The coffee here is good and while the espresso based beverages can vary a bit in quality the batch brew is good and they do offer free refills as well. Chocolates are of course also good but I will also strongly recommend the croissants as well as the fresh juices and ice cream.

Then I spotted in the distance, at the very end of the row of gates, a sign saying "Joe & The Juice". I looked closer, and they had some limited food, as well as coffee and juices. I ordered a spicy tuna sandwich, which was hot (temperature) and had some spiciness in the tuna mix. The bread was a whole grain, rather flat, but very tasty, and overall it hit the spot. They were out of the nitro cold brew, so I just had a normal cup of coffee. It was a perfectly good cup of coffee. Having finished that I felt ready to travel.

Räksmörgås or shrimp sandwich. It is an open faced sandwich consisting of hard boiled egg, lettuce and tomato topped with a healthy portion of shrimp. Very tasty. I seriously couldn't wait until reaching my hotel in the centre of Stockholm (almost an hour) -- so I made a quick stop here at Johan & Nyström, was equipped swiftly with a small roast beef sandwich (with radish and kiwi!) and a nicely made cappuccino. The surrounding cafe tables and seating are quite nice, stylish and well decorated. In true Swedish form, it feels sophisticated and comfortable without being over the top or garish. Even the airport cafes have style, it's true. If you are arriving from outside the Nordics, this is likely your first "sticker shock" moment -- yes, everything is expensive. For this little snack it was nearly 20 euros. The barista sits in a corner reading a book and it takes a bit before zie wakes up. I ask for a double cappuccino to go and I am genuinely disappointed when I drink it. It's weak, and it tastes more like a diluted single latte. Perhaps both the barista and I had a bad day but this was definitely below par and what I'd expect from Johan & Nyström.

I guess what disappoints me is that "A coffee shop just outside the 'Arrivals'-exit at the airport" sounds absolutely brilliant. Like, what else is there to do while waiting for that loved one to arrive? I'm generally of the opinion that we give each other flowers way too rarely, but coming of an airplane may be the one exception. It's just clearly not the time. And coffee isn't just a nice gift, it's also a crucial ally in the battle against the jetlag. So to summarize, I'm glad they're there, I just wish they would figure the location out and be a little better.
