Dr. Austin is an excellent physician. The Brownsville office can be very busy, but the staff do their best to make sure every appointment is on time. I was dealing with an ear issue for roughly 6 months due to life making things very difficult to make appointments and get treated. Dr. Austin stuck with me the whole way, making sure I overcame the issue. If you have ear, nose, or throat issues, I would definitely recommend Dr. Austin. read more

Never saw Dr. medical assistant went to show file came back and said we'd be seen by PA. She was kind but very confusing in her diagnose, contradicted herself and left us very confused. When questioned it, we were made to feel stupid. Very Rude receptionist actually raised her voice at me and I kindly asked her not to scream. She was bothered that I questioned item missing on our prescription. It's been almost 30 days since my visit and I still don't have medication they never corrected prescription. Dr. Austin is a phenomenally smart and knowledgeable physician. We've seen Dr. Austin for a broken nose, surgery, throat issues, tinnitus, and vertigo. He does it all and he does it well. He spends time listening and the examinations are thorough and gentle. I love that he is invested in the patient; taking his time with the diagnosis and treatment. We never feel rushed and always feel welcome and important. The location is easy to find and the office staff was warm and inviting. Dr. Austin is a funny and friendly doctor. "Doctor" Austin isnt a doctor. He's a butcher. I would advise to everyone reading this to PLEASE FIND SOMEONE ELSE. If you want to end up in the ER gushing blood to the point of a transfusion, almost die, and be told to dress better while feeling like ---- while under this care, go see this guy. If you value your life and want to FIX your issue and not leave with MORE issues PLEASE GO TO SOMEONE ELSE. He lacks care and concern. He changes lives. Don't let him change yours. read more

Overall poor experience. This ENT felt like they just wanted to push through patients fast and make easy money. My situation: It all started one day I felt a weird sensation in my right ear. I purchased an ear camera and made sure nothing had crawled in there. Then for the following months, I began experiencing issues with my right ear: a sensation of water, numb around the ear, dizzy, vertigo, increased migraines, light-headed, etc. My first visit was an urgent care that diagnosed an outer ear infection and prescribed some antibiotics. That did nothing for the symptoms. A month later my primary doctor gave me a referral for an ENT specialist. I choose Dr. Austin in Brownsville because of the great reviews. The first part: My insurance had an issue faxing in my referral, they told me they wouldn't check me in until they received it. I spent an hour back and forth with my insurance and the ENT until my insurance told the ENT office to just print it themselves. Took them less than a minute to log in and print. Not sure why both sides didn't work that out before I arrived, took an hour out of my day to help them do such a minor process that allows them to earn money. (Also the receptionist area was chaotic. They had a mess and the clerks were constantly moving around. Seemed like they had a hard time doing their jobs) The second and main part: The initial screening questions seemed normal but then the doctor started to focus on my background work as a mechanic, exposure to sound, and diagnosing me with hearing loss. It was unusual and unrelated to the issues I described but I did the very easy and basic hearing test. After the hearing test, he said everything is normal. What I am experiencing is normal and left the room. Unbelievable! I was laughing. I didn't leave and asked the nurse for him to return. 15 min later he returned somewhat annoyed. I asked again about the symptoms I am experiencing and if it could be related to issues in the middle ear. He said there were no signs of fluid behind the eardrum which would appear as yellow (that seemed reasonable) but then he again said everything I am experiencing is normal and left the room. I left the ENT confused and frustrated why he was so focused on my hearing than the symptoms but it was obvious he was not interested in addressing the issues I went there for. For a week I tried to understand why he would just spend seconds looking at my ear and then tell me all was normal. It is possible he determined the outer ear and middle ear are fine in the few minutes he spent with me but these symptoms are not normal for anyone. Just a few days ago a friend told me I was mumbling and slurring my speech. I can't believe a doctor would suggest these symptoms are normal. I am now going to follow up with my primary doctor to make sure there isn't some other issue related to these symptoms: Inner ear infection, Stroke, Tumor, allergy, etc. Hopefully and likely just something minor rather than major. read more
