Ontop of all that, I have emails from Trex stating the my deck is not fully covered under the warranty because of specific guidelines not followed. It has cost me double the money to have someone else remove his boards and install them correctly and professionally. If you want my opinion, hire a Trex Platinum or Trex Gold installer. Trex will insure the work they do and make sure it is done correctly. You may pay slightly more, but trust me, you don't want to go through the same headache as we did.

James and his son were hired to build a deck, fence and pergola for us. He gave us normal pricing on the deck and fence and then gave a discount for the pergola because we were having so much work done. He never built the pergola. We are currently sitting with lumber in our yard and no pergola. Before he ditched on the job all together, he charged $500 more than quoted on the fence and deck. We stupidly paid it and we have not seen him since. From the very beginning he would not show up when he said he would. He would not answer phone or text messages and then when he wanted to grace us with his presence we found that the lumber we paid for (higher than quoted) has multiple cracks and splinters. The FIRST time they came out to install, the railings were OVER 3 feet too short! It took the company SIX times of coming out and hours of time spent on the phone with the project manager, the installer, myself and my husband! The only person in the Company that ever apologized for all the problems, was the young man who came out to install. The product was very well done. However, only gets 3 stars because of poor customer service. Its hard to get anybody to answer the phone. I would call the girl who gave me her cell phone or left message there. I met with Eric (the owner) numerous times before the install to discuss exactly how the fence will be installed. He talked me into doing the fence a certain way (against my better judgement and what i really wanted). After months of waiting, the installer finally came to build the fence and it was built completely wrong and every single pole was crooked, misaligned or uneven. Many of the screws were half screwed in and the powder coating was chipped off. My 10 year old daughter even noticed how bad it was and said she could have done it better. The design was completely different than what was discussed and they left all the dirt in mounds across the lawn that was freshly seeded not 3 weeks prior. We had to clean it up so the grass would not die. We paid him in cash and he gave us a whole $100 off the price that already seemed high compared to neighbors that recently had a fence installed... I reached out to Eric and asked him to come fix the fence. He acted aloof and said he did not see anything wrong with it other than a few misaligned poles and that he told the installer to fix them (which he didn't). It took many tries for him to even respond to me and agree it needed fixing. He sent his installer out to look at the fence. Long story short, they took another 2 months to even fix the fence, because clearly we were not a priority and they left the fence open on one side for a month and still did it wrong even after a second agreement over text message as to how it should have been done like we originally discussed. Eric was nothing but a pompous jerk to me and my wife at this point and was clearly too busy to take care of his mistakes. I told him that if he took care of the fence in a timely manner i would still recommend him for future jobs, because i understand mistakes happen. That did not seem to motivate him at all. I saved all the texts and emails just in case anyone wants proof of his antics and attitude. As a small business owner, I am blown away as to how Eric does business and hope that he learns how to treat his customers. I will now have to pay another company to come fix his mistakes, because he now refuses to respond.
